25.01.2022 Ginger Honey Alleviates Nausea From Travel and Sea Sickness... Ginger (Zingiber officinale) also includes turmeric (Curcuma longa), cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum), and galangal (Alpinia galangal). Ginger originated in Southeast Asia and was first domesticated around 5000 years ago by the Austronesians, an ethnic group (defined as speaking the Austronesian language family) in Southeast Asia, Micronesia, Polynesia Melanesia and Madagascar. Ginger has been used in cooking in ma...ny cultures for centuries and has been highly prized for its medicinal properties since ancient times. It contains a compound called gingerol which is one of nature’s best antioxidants and it triggers the body’s anti-inflammatory response. Ginger alleviates nausea from travel and sea sickness, chemotherapy and other medications that cause nausea, after surgery, and during pregnancy. If it is used everyday for at least four days, these effects can increase by up to five-fold. Just taking one gram before your medication is often enough to relieve nausea if taken every day. Try this for 2 weeks...you must give your body time. GINGER REDUCES INFLAMMATION. This is great news for athletes, as studies have shown that taking two grams every day for five days straight, can reduce muscle pain from intense exercise. A BOON FOR TRAVELERS, ginger can also prevent blood clots, lower blood pressure, and reduce cholesterol build up in the arteries. It also alleviates heartburn and indigestion symptoms like stomach cramps and bloating. Just take your ginger before your meals. GINGER IS A POWERHOUSE FOR THE IMMUNE SYSTEM, fighting colds and flu and other infections. It kills many types of fungus which cause disease. FOR THE IMMEDIATE BENEFITS OF GINGER, I like to take a spoonful of Ginger Honey before meals. Travelers can carry a jar with them (check with your airline whether you can take it in on-board luggage). GINGER HONEY - method **Juice fresh ginger and pour into an airtight jar. **Stir in untreated honey and check for taste. Take a dessertspoon BEFORE YOUR MEAL, or stir into warm water and drink before meals. That’s it. Be sure to taste it as too much ginger juice will make it very hot! The honey will preserve the ginger, so it won’t go off. Enjoy your travels with amazing ginger and take care. DISCLAIMER: Please ensure you are consulting with your health professional. 11.01.2022 DRINK GINGER & LEMON HEALING TEA #isolationrecipes #thatnomad #thatnomadshop Homemade tea can be nutritious and healing. Coming into winter with its colds, flu and corona virus, ginger and lemon tea can be your best friend. It can easily be made at a campsite, backpackers, hostel or B&B. You can travel with it in a thermos or travel mug.... Make this up every day. It is relatively inexpensive, nutritious and is a friend to your kidneys, blood sugar levels, and the respiratory, digestive, circulatory systems. The vitamins A and C, the minerals magnesium, potassium, manganese and copper, reduce inflammation, benefit your hair and skin, and help with weight management. INGREDIENTS (for one person) About 2.5cm (1 inch) piece of fresh Ginger Fresh lemon juice (squeezed) 2 cups of water preferably filtered Untreated natural honey For an extra boost: you can add a teaspoon of organic turmeric powder or slice a small piece of fresh turmeric into the water with the ginger. METHOD Cut the Ginger (and Turmeric) into thin slices and simmer gently in a saucepan of filtered water for about 10 minutes Let the water cool down (leave the ginger in it) Add the juice of half to one lemon Once cool, add some pure honey to taste Make sure you don’t add the honey and lemon while the water is hot. Wait till the water is only a little warm so the honey dissolves. This amazing tasty, natural, nutritious drink is now ready. Drink it throughout the day and evening. ***Buy your honey from the honey producer not the supermarket. Sometimes your local small supermarket will carry local honey. This is so important. You will be supporting local industry, helping to keep populations of bees pollinating our trees, flowers, herbs and vegies, and it will be better for you. Ask your beekeeper if the honey is heat-treated (pasteurized). You do NOT want your honey to be processed! It is already anti-bacterial and needs no treatment for you to store it and be naturally good for you.
