There's been some big changes in the last few weeks, and I will be restructuring what I do so I can better serve you. Also, I'm off to Japan today! I'll be spending 2 weeks travelling the country, so expect my posts here to continue the current trend of "minimal to none" until I get back. If you ever receive something like this, DELETE IT. Do not respond, do not put your account information into any form. I know people get scammed by phone calls all the time. 18.01.2022 FREE EDITING SOFTWARE CONTINUED...! Did you know I wrote this down, and I STILL forgot to mention it during the Live chat today?? Ugh! Typical! If you are a beginner, then there is another free video editor you can easily use. And that is YouTube's own video editor!... Here's what you do: 1. Open a YouTube channel, and upload your raw video file. 2. Make sure you're in YouTube Studio Beta. Click on your video, and on the left will be an option to edit your video. Click this! 3. Now, you can "split" your video to make jump cuts (delete dead space and fluff), trim your video, and even add a music track. All for free! 4. Save your edited video. It will take a bit of time to complete saving. Use this new edited video as your official upload. Does that make sense? Oh! You can also use this editor to BLUR parts of your video :o Great if you have number plates, personal information or kids in your clip. Need help? 15.01.2022 Three years ago, I was still living in Japan During this time, I made a few videos about Japanese life. What it was like teaching there, travelling and a whole lot more. One of those videos was about getting my hair cut and coloured in a Japanese salon, which was so out in the rural countryside, the only neighbours were rice fields.... Anyway, I'm sharing it here with you today for two reasons: 1) It shows how something as ordinary and everyday as going to a hairdresser can be turned into a video. 2) After trying desperately to explain how to edit to the beat of a music track yesterday, I now realise this is THE PERFECT example of what I meant!! I'm not going to pretend like I know EXACTLY how to do this... we grow up learning how to write academic essays, not copy!! But, I do want to share what I know!... 08.01.2022 Afternoon everyone! Bit of a "long time no see" posting... and it's about time I got REAL REAL. Consider this a tea spill moment. So here's the thing, I originally started That Video Girl 2 years and a smidgen ago, because I wanted to get more people using video. And I've tried! I haven't "failed" at this goal. I've mentored people, supported people, inspired people. But no matter how many talks I give, phone calls I have, posts I make... it's not "working". I've tried to f...ix this, change my messaging, and been incredibly open. But I can't help those who either don't see the big picture, or... and here's the hard truth: do not want to be helped. We gotta be on the same page, and the VAST majority of people just aren't there with me! So here's what's going to happen... Since taking over The Gold Coast Art School, I now have access to a large workshop space. I'll be running very focused workshops from this space in the future, and you will leave each one with specific content and acquired skills. I will also be re-opening my YouTube channel set-up. This is a once-off, done for you deal. Just give me the info you want, and I will set it up fully with all socials & SEO done. I can't do many of these at once, so you must book in. YouTube is gaining speed, and if you can't get your head around it, talk to me. That's it! I can't continue to give so much of my time and energy developing relationships with people who are not ready. You need to want this as badly as I want it for you. And that's A LOT. I still feel like I'm still sugar-coating this. And I know people will say it's me. Maybe it is! But I've talked to too many people over the years who say one thing and then do the opposite. I gotta pull back from that and focus on actionable steps, and make video happen for the right people. I guess I'm done with playing games, lol. This isn't a hobby to me. This is my business. I need to treat it as seriously as exactly that. And you should do the same with yours! We can't progress with "Maybe, I'll think about it". No way. If you're in, there's no question. You stop thinking and you just DO. We've only got a few more months until 2020 kicks in, so make every moment meaningful. ~ Jess
