15.01.2022 A friend sent me an email last night with a product SDS attached and asked me to review it. It's one of those new miracle type removers. I think it pretty much ...accurately reflects what's happening to our industry. I don't want to name the brand, but here are just a few things I noted at a very quick glance. The main ingredient listed as hazardous was "organic alkali" . That's a very non specific name....it's like me putting the description " car" into a SDS - you have no way of knowing whether it's a second hand 20 yr old Toyota or the latest BMW. That makes it very difficult to then make some sort of assessment about the actual safety of the material. That said I'd expect anything with an organic alkali at 40%+ to be a corrosive agent, but there's no mention of any corrosive effects in Section 2 of the SDS and in Section 9 the pH has not even been determined and in Section 11 there is no data re Skin irritation or corrosion. In section 7 there's this little clue about the product "The operator must undergo special training and strictly abide by the operating procedures". What special training ? - the SDS is supposed to provide the information about safe handling...not point towards "special training" That's about as vague as many other sections of the SDS are. I spotted a number of other discrepancies as well, but I won't labour the point any further. I am certainly no expert on the SDS standards for the EU or the USA, but certainly by Australian standards this document falls a long way short of what is required. It fails to do what an SDS is supposed to do i.e alert users to the hazards of the material and give them precautions to be taken for safe use. See more

15.01.2022 Could not recommend Desa and Alex enough! If you are looking for closely monitored, quality training by the professionals themselves in any beauty department this is your place Its a blessing in disguise that I didnt go ahead with the two previous training academies I visited

12.01.2022 Someone asked, "My daughter is having an organic dip system applied to her nails and I want to educate her on this. Can you post something?: Facts: There is n...o such thing as an "organic dip". Dips that claim to be "organic" are no more organic than gel manicures or acrylics. All of these are "organic" in the same sense that cow dung or road tar are made from organic molecules. That does NOT mean "organic certified". That's the trick! Don't be fooled. No dip system is "organic certified" and NONE can rightfully claim to be organic. This is a violation in many places, e.g. in the US, falsely claiming to be "organic" is in violation of the USDA National Organic Program, and considered a serious offense. Companies making these deceptive and false claims are talking about products based on cyanoacrylate adhesives and acrylic powder. Calling these organic is pure deception. Buyer Beware! Don't reward deceivers by purchasing their products. Avoid Them! Warn your friends to do the same.
