25.01.2022 Airports by nature are complex facilities involving a wide range of stakeholders from airlines and freight providers to government departments and the community. With so many parts comprising the whole, effective management of stakeholders is essential for a successful operation. Here, Hannah Stanley shares her thoughts on why airports should be proactive in their engagement with stakeholders and how healthy communication can be encouraged with both internal and external stakeholders.

19.01.2022 At The Airport Group, we really value our in-house airport planning team. Hannah, our manager for airport planning, studied a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning and has a PhD in International Airport Planning and Stakeholder Engagement. Her studies have encouraged her to look beyond the domestic aviation landscape to find inspiration and innovation from airports across the globe, which she is applying to plans and strategies for airports across Australia.
17.01.2022 Extensive research has been conducted on the behaviours of airline passengers from their personal identities to their reasons for travel and lengths of stay but what about the vast quantities of goods that are carried underneath them? In an Australian first report, Infrastructure Partnerships Australia and BIS Oxford Economics have measured and published the composition of Australian trade flows in The International Airfreight Indicator. We highly recommend having a read, however if you're time poor, the team at TAG have reviewed and written up their takeaways and opinions on the report. 16.01.2022 Last Friday saw the close of RAS 2019 in Airlie Beach. Following our dinner on the jetty Thursday night, we started Day 2 with more insightful presentations from our guest speakers, followed by a Master Plan presentation and tour by the Whitsunday Coast Airport team. We think Whitsunday Coast Airport manager, Brian Joiner, wrapped up the symposium perfectly, reminding us that the power of regional airports does not lie with one sole operation, but when we unite and drive change together. Thank you so much to all of our guest speakers, delegates and sponsors! We enjoyed the two days immensely and look forward to next year!
16.01.2022 Airports are complex facilities, with many parts working together to ensure day-to-day operations happen efficiently and effectively. In the airport context, these "parts" are our stakeholders, which may include anyone from airlines and passengers to local communities and government departments. Learning to successfully manage and engage with stakeholders is essential for airports, especially considering the power they have to influence numerous outcomes. Knowing this, airport operators need to be asking: Am I effectively engaging with my stakeholders? To ensure that your stakeholders feel heard and valued, Hannah Stanley has listed four things you can do to improve your communication with stakeholders. 15.01.2022 Does your organisation actively engage in research practices? At The Airport Group, we believe research is an invaluable tool, providing the opportunity to explore the aviation industry and objectively reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of current practices. This may entail a micro level interrogation of lease rates, or a macro level comparison of ground transport strategies across several airports. By looking at how others have succeeded, and even failed, airport operators can better understand what "best practice" looks like and understand market trends. Here, Hannah Stanley shares a little on how The Airport Group helps airports conduct and utilise industry and academic research to better their operation.
