22.01.2022 Happy Adoption Tale! Tao the tiny 12 year old King Charles Spaniel x Toy Poodle has found a lovely home with retiree Jane down on the Mornington Peninsula. When not getting coiffed at the local salon, walking along the beach or enjoying the company of Jane, her friends and their dogs, she’s happily cuddling up to Jane and being a good girl with Bella, Jane’s Ragdoll cat. Says Jane, ‘Tao has settled in really well. She loves her comfy new bed and eats like a horse. It’s like she’s always been here with us.’ Thanks Jane. We’re so glad to hear!

15.01.2022 Happy Adoption Tale! Mavis, the 12 month old, 45kg Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff) x Neapolitan Mastiff (yep, she’s a big girl!) has found a very loving home with Leanne and her partner Shane. Leanne wrote ‘We lost our family pet in February this year due to old age. Replacing her was far from our thoughts but as time passed, I realised the impact pet therapy made on my mental wellness, being an ex service veteran. So I began looking for a dog that needed a new home. Mav...is’ profile stood out and so I began the process, with success. She has been a part of our family for a little while now and in such a short time she has helped me get out and about as well as being supportive of my well-being. I am slowly training her with the skills she needs and who knows if she might get accreditation as a recognised service dog. We are both learning new skill sets and methods of understanding, as she loves the treats and I enjoy the drill....Either way I have learnt that I need her as much as she needs us. 07.01.2022 The Animal Justice Party and wonderful journalist Claire Harris (whose foster dog Dash was killed when he was meant to be going back to the RSPCA temporarily for some behavioural work), have joined forces and had a huge win. Legislation has finally been passed in Victoria banning the convenience killing of healthy, rehomable pets. It’s sadly too late for Dash and the tens of thousands of pets unnecessarily put to sleep each year in Victoria, but well done Claire and Andy Meddick, Victoria’s only Animal Justice Party MP. This legislation is long overdue.

07.01.2022 If looking for a placid dog that requires an hour of exercise a day and then pretty much relaxes the rest of the time, try a greyhound. Gumtree Greys (nothing to do with Gumtree) have many needing homes. They suit people who can provide them with company during the day or can take them to work. If unable to do those things, having a doggy door and another compatible dog for company would suit. 06.01.2022 Happy (and Sad) Adoption Tale. Back in April 2017 (refer last photo) we rehomed beautiful senior boy Benny a Cocker Spaniel x, to Meredith and her other dog Hollie. Fast forward three years. Meredith his new mum, sent us this. ‘It is with a heavy heart that I write to say that we said goodbye to our beloved goofball Benny (aka Bunny). 25/01/2007-4/8/2020... Benny came to me 3 years ago through Michaela and TARS. He lived a happy and carefree 3 years with me after surviving 10 pretty awful years. He was always happy to see people and they loved his big goofy grin. He was a blessing to my house...in spite of the ongoing vet bills and copious amounts of medication required to give him the best life possible. What a gentle old man he was. He will be missed by the whole neighbourhood.
