24.01.2022 Kebab Corner (Palmerston) $11 Review: ... The Kebab Corner is what you call the 'light in the dark' of Palmerston. The guys taking our order were really enthusiastic and were even nice enough to show us around at the back and even let us take a photo with them with their rotisseries. Unfortunately for the kebab itself, it was not as good as we were praying for. The lamb was a bit dry and chewy and was pretty hard to down every couple of bites. Their homemade spicy chilli sauce was more of a spice you put into a curry dish than you put into a kebab which dropped the value of the kebab down significantly. However, Kebab Corner provide a different perspective and offer sweet chilli sauce for those who can't handle the spice (which we DO NOT recommend). Furthermore, their homemade tabouli goes well with the kebab. Not much to say about the kebabs in general but we enjoyed meeting the guys there. Although Kebab Corner weren't as good as we were hoping, we'd still go for another round if we ever find ourselves in Palmerston again. Rating: 6.5/10
22.01.2022 Locked & Loaded. Let the Kebab Journey begin.
22.01.2022 Istanbul Kebab Bar $10 (Lunch Special) Review:... Located in the Darwin city, Istanbul Kebab Bar is what you call your typical street corner kebab shop, conveniently located in the centre of the CBD. Their opening hours and location are also ideal for late-night town goers who are looking for some quick and easy greasy grub after a big night out on the weekend. Istanbul Kebab Bar only offer lamb and chicken (no beef) which Lucas and I both chose respectively. Upon receiving our kebabs, the filling and general size of it looked pretty small. The pita was wrapped around twice and it took us a couple of bites to actually get to the goods. The meat to salad proportion was good however it wasn't filling and we still weren't satisfied after finishing the kebab. Another good thing that can be said about the meal is that the meat itself had an excellent spice to it however, it was more minced meat than a moist ribbon that you usually bargain for in a kebab. Furthermore, the chilli sauce contained more of a kick than we were accustomed to from the previous kebab shop, and the garlic sauce wasn't as prevalent than it should have been to compensate for the spice. Overall, an average kebab that wasn't filling at all. Not sure if it was just available on a Sunday, but the $10 lunch deal made it a fair price for what it was. Rating: 6.5/10
15.01.2022 Kebab House (Fannie Bay) $11 ($13.50 for open platter) Review: ... Kebab House is located next to the iconic Cool Spot in Fannie Bay. Some of our followers built a lot of hype for this restaurant so we were expecting this to be a likely contender for the crown. The Kebab House by far sells the best kebabs out of all the stores we have travelled to so far. The kebabs were beautifully crafted and the garlic and chilli sauce wasn't oozing out of the bottom of the kebab like it normally does with your everyday kebab. Lucas and I both chose the lamb option where I tried a kebab as an open platter (do not recommend). The only upside of ordering an open platter was that it was more convenient to critique the contents that would have been in the kebab. The lamb was expertly shaved into long moist ribbons, each edged with a crisp hem. It was by far the biggest strength to the kebab as its general taste was above average as well. However, the biggest let down of the kebab as a whole was the pita as it was fairly stale. Moreover, the basic salads are on offer as well as a homemade salad consisting of a traditional family recipe. Also, the guy at the counter gave us a taste of his 'magical sauce' which was practically a salad dressing. It went especially well with the kebab, giving a tangy perspective to it. Also, for all of you that are interested, no he didn't tell us the recipe or what was in it. Overall, the kebabs were excellent. The pita could have been a bit more fresh and the open platter should be the same price as the kebab itself. However, we are still searching for a kebab that can tick all the boxes. Rating: 9/10
14.01.2022 Darwin Kebab & Pizza (Berrimah) $11.50 Review: ... Darwin Kebab & Pizza is located within Zone just off Vanderlin dr in Berrimah. We couldn't believe it at first, but the store surprisingly offers a drive-thru service, setting itself a part from other typical counter services at local kebab stores. Lucas and I both chose to go with the lamb option although Darwin Kebab & Pizza also offers chicken, beef as well as the mixed option. We noticed that the workers had already grazed chicken pieces off its own rotisserie, leaving it to chance that customers will order anything related to chicken, although it wouldn't be as fresh as it could be. When ordering our kebabs, the staff didn't seem interested in interacting with us on a social level like the guys did back at Kebab Karama but they were still efficient and really quick in prepping our kebabs. Darwin Kebab & Pizza offer the usual salads and homemade garlic and chilli sauce but if you're looking for more dietary fibre in your diet, they also offer humus as a choice of spread for your pita. Upon receiving our kebabs, the overall appearance looked appealing. The pita tightly wrapped the salads and meat together so it wasn't as much as a mess when you usually eat a kebab. It had a great ratio of meat to salad however they could have put a little bit more for what we bargained for as we didn't feel satisfied after finishing the kebab. However, the lamb was very tasty but was a bit chewy and dry so it was a bit hard to swallow at times. The sauce was modest in its quantity so it couldn't help soften up the meat when needed. On the bright side, as there was no overuse in the sauces, it gave it a sufficient amount of zing. Perhaps a bit lacking in being as fresh but it's a very minor difference from the Karama Kebab, and that can easily be overlooked by the strengths of this establishment. Overall, a very tasty kebab but we believe it has the potential to be better than it was. Worth the price? For a drive-thru some may find it so while on the go but as it is, it's standard, could be a buck or two cheaper, but beggars can't be choosers. Rating: 7/10

09.01.2022 The Kebab House (Casuarina) $11 Review:... The Kebab House in Casuarina is the now the new front runner in this epic kebab race. We couldn't believe we labelled The Kebab House in Fannie Bay with such a standard. Mainly due to bias opinion from Lucas as it is his 'go to place' for some quick grub, it essentially passed me how good my go to place in Casuarina was after almost 5 months of not purchasing any goods from this store. The main thing that can be admired about the kebabs at this store is that the pita is not soft and fluffy and not hard and stale. By far the best pita on offer so far out of all the kebab stores we have travelled to. The moist meaty ribbons were present in both the lamb and chicken and most importantly tasted fresh. Although we asked for some tabouli for some cultural flavour, we personally believe that the pita, kebab meat and the chilli and garlic sauce itself is all you need for a satisfying meal. Overall, a very good and tasty kebab. The $1 extra for just a sprinkle of cheese seems like a way to milk more money out of the customer however it is still worth for what you give. Rating: 9.5/10
03.01.2022 Kebab Karama $11.00 Review: ... Believe it or not, not everyone who lives in Karama wants to take a tourist to a dark alley and stab the kebab out of 'em. We can't say we weren't scared upon arrival due to reasoning that the suburb is believed to have general similarities with Palmerston however, after noticing the scintillating 'Kebab Karama' sign, fear immediately turned into excitement. After walking into Kebab Karama, an instant feeling of homely warmth which you usually receive from small family businesses was brought upon us. Kebab Karama has four options you can choose from; beef, lamb, chicken and mixed. Lucas and I chose the lamb and chicken respectively. The workers behind the counter were friendly and were really fast in preparing our kebabs. They have a variety of salads you can choose from as well as the usual garlic and homemade chilli sauce. You also have the choice to add cheese to your kebab if you need something to compensate for the kick from the chilli sauce. Our mistake was ordering the kebabs as a wrap rather an open platter so we could taste each element individually then as a whole without making a mess of it. The grilled pita was a bit overly cooked and a bit crunchy at times however, it wasn't sticking to the alfoil which is a good thing. We didn't really look at the meat that was in our kebabs but it tasted good and looked fresh and appealing when it was on its rotisserie. The garlic and chilli sauce had a kick which was just right when we first started out but after a few more bites, we became more and more desperate for a drink. Overall, a very good start to our kebab journey but we are hoping we can find something more bigger than Kebab Karama. Rating: 8/10
