It was a teary good bye for everyone at Axis Track Services, especially for Nick and Phil who have spent the last 4+ years restoring this big cat! They have done an incredible job and we will be so proud to display it here at the museum for everyone to see! ... We cant wait to welcome this kitty to its new home in Cairns! 22.01.2022 TIGER I UPDATE Glen and Beau are making great progress on our Tiger I project! As you can see they have now completed the front upper hull armour plate along with both sides. The upper hull will come along nicely from here on as we have the vital components prepped and ready to go. ... Stay tuned for further updates!

21.01.2022 Well once again you never know what will turn up in your own backyard! We have been aware of this WWII Japanese Type 95 Ha Go tank for some time, but the owners, the Wedd family were reluctant to part with it. They finally made a decision to dispose of the vehicle and gave us a call. It is now awaiting transport to Cairns. We will provide a full set of pictures upon its arrival. We are very excited to have a rare addition to our WWII Japanese section!

19.01.2022 TIGER I UPDATE Thank you to everyone that attended AusArmourfest 2020, either in person or virtually! We had a great time and hope that everyone that attended did too! Now its back to basics! Glen and Beau have been very busy in recent weeks producing the axles to hold the road wheels. It shows the skill level of our crew that we are able to produce these vital components in house.

19.01.2022 TIGER I UPDATE Time to give everyone an update on our static Tiger I resto! We have commenced putting our Tiger I hull together, as you can see the left and right sides are new along with part of the floor. This is necessary due to the fact that the original hull pieces that we have were beyond practical repair. A tough decision to make! We thought it best to be honest with our loyal followers! ... We have the option in the future to make this a running vehicle, but with so many projects either underway or in the pipeline we need to keep moving!

The T-72 traded off interior space for a low silhouette but with a reduced gun depression of -6 degrees (106mils) compared to a Leopard 1 of -9 degrees (160mils) Did you know, anyone taller than 5ft7 couldn't sit in the turret to be able to close the hatch?... The T72 can go also go underwater to a depth of 5 meters with a snorkel. A tank made for battle.

07.01.2022 Tank Tuesday brought to you by the Churchill! Australia bought 51 Churchills! A mix of Mk IV, V, VI ,VII and VIII. Our initial purchase number was 510.... The Churchill was trialled against the Sherman tanks at Madang in August 1944. Did you know we have a Mk IV, VII, AVRE and the only Churchill Flail (Toad) here at Ausarmour?

Our M26 Pershing has finally arrived in Brisbane, the bad news is that it failed the quarantine inspection hence it had to be wrapped to prevent the escape of any foreign matter while it was moved for cleaning. We look forward to its arrival to the USA WWII section of the Museum.... As always stay tuned for further updates!

05.01.2022 We are cruising into Tank Tuesday with our Australian Cruiser Mk IV or as some people know it, the AC4. Field Marshall Sir Thomas Blamey requested a 17pdr be fitted as it had twice the muzzle velocity of a 25pdr on the AC3! The AC4 was to have a 70 inch turret ring compared to the 54 inch of an AC1.... There was only one prototype of the AC4 with the 17 pdr, it was made before the project was cancelled. Did you know Australia was the first allied army to fit a 17pdr in a turret, one year before the Firefly?!
