23.01.2022 Charlotte is a bold and active resident of Afford’s Cranbourne Supported Accommodation in Melbourne, but it hasn’t always been that way. When she first moved into her new home, Charlotte was shy and rarely felt comfortable speaking to others in group situations. Her room was her ‘hideout’ and her comfort zone. Today, Charlotte confidently does things around the house and makes choices about the things she wants to do. She enthusiastically participates in the weekly resident m...eetings at her home with her housemates. She is now at ease and relaxed to chat and laugh with staff and residents. The most significant milestone for Charlotte is her participation in walks with staff and her housemates. When she first joined Afford, Charlotte would retreat to her room to go on her iPad or listen to music. Now, she is keen to get outdoors and explore her local community and get some exercise at the same time. Her independent living skills have flourished, and she makes delicious pizzas that she loves sharing with everyone at her home. Over the past few months, Charlotte has bloomed into a confident and capable young woman with so many wonderful opportunities ahead. With support if and when she needs it, Charlotte now has the confidence to live life her way. Go Charlotte!
