19.01.2022 I think it’s safe to say most of us are aware of the drought and crisis our farmers are facing... What I’m unsure of is if we are all aware of just how dire thi...ngs really are... Only hours away from us there are Aussies without drinking water... things are heartbreakingly desperate. I understand fully that I can not change the world... but I know that together we sure can make a difference! So a few of my huge hearted mates and myself have come up with HOPE FLOATS drive for water... Our goal is to fill a float OR MORE with bottled water of ALL shapes and sizes and personally deliver it to the kids in the local schools of the Stanthorpe/Applethorpe region. Let’s fill this float with hope and give our fellow Aussies a true blue outpouring of love! Any water donations can be dropped into Holli Dolli Shop 4/40 Christie Street Canungra QLD 4275 Ph: 0403046002 Backroads Beaudesert 8/121-123 Brisbane Street Beaudesert, QLD 4285 Ph: 55413 832 XO2 42 Junction Road Burleigh Heads, QLD 4220 Ph: 1300 123 499 Drop off cut off for all water donations will be Wednesday 4th of September and we will be trucking out on Thursday 5th September! I get so super excited when passionate Aussies with big hearts come together in a brilliant display of human spirit... Please share this with EVERYONE! Let’s get watering.... 18.01.2022 Some exciting news out of London
18.01.2022 In a solemn ceremony at the United Grand Lodge of England in London today, HRH The Duke of Kent, Grand Master, unveiled and dedicated a new Freemasons Victoria ...Cross Remembrance Stone in honour of all Freemasons awarded Britains highest military award for bravery. Sergeant Johnson Beharry VC, himself a Freemason, was among the 130 distinguished guests who were witnesses to the historic event. Sixty four recipients of the Victoria Cross during the First World War alone were Freemasons, and 200 have been recipients of the rare and prestigious award since it was first instituted in 1856. It is estimated that Freemasons make up an astonishing 14 per cent of all VC recipients and this is put down to the type of person who wants to become a Freemason. They are by nature friendly and generous people, individuals who have an ingrained sense of duty to others and a heightened sense of selflessness and personal responsibility. These are the very traits that lead individuals to carry out the actions that are considered worthy of the Victoria Cross. The VC is only awarded for acts of conspicuous gallantry and courage in the face of an enemy. Since 1856, there have been 1,358 VCs awarded. The stone was carved by Worcester Cathedrals first female Stonemason apprentice, Emily Draper, having been sponsored by local Freemasons. Emilys Great Uncle was a Freemason VC Recipient. The Duke of Kent presented her with a stone carving toolset to aid her future projects. On April 25, 2017, a memorial was unveiled to the Freemason Great War VCs outside Freemasons Hall in London by its Grand Master, the Duke of Kent. Now the United Grand Lodge of England has a monument to honour all 200 Freemason Victoria Cross Recipients. HRH The Duke of Kent has strong military ties - having attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, he was commissioned into The Royal Scots Greys (2nd Dragoons) and subsequently served in Northern Ireland, Cyprus and Hong Kong. He retired from the Army in 1976 and was promoted to Field Marshall in 1993 and is Royal Colonel Scots Guards. He has been a Freemason for 55 years 52 as Grand Master of The United Grand Lodge of England. The United Grand Lodge of England was the worlds first Grand Lodge. Formed in 1717 it now has a membership of over 200,000. It was built to honour more than 3,000 masons killed in the First World War. Freemasonry is one of the worlds largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations, and its symbolic origin lies in stonemasonry. Its foundations of equality of individual, its spirit of altruism and practical voluntary service and charity aiding others across the whole of society makes it an obvious draw to Service Personnel and Veterans.

14.01.2022 Did you know Masons used coffee to fight the Nazis? Here at Busy Brew Coffee, we honor the memory of Hermanus Van Tongeren. He was the Grand Master of Masons in... the Netherlands when Nazi Germany invaded and suppressed the fraternity. Brother Tongeren managed to keep freemasonry alive by having it meet under the guise of "coffee clubs" in plain sight of the Nazi commanders. Eventually, the coffee clubs were found out and Van Tongeren was ultimately killed in a concentration camp. After his death, Hitler recognized the opportunity to go in and seize all of the art collections of the Dutch Masonic Lodges as well as their bank accounts but upon attempting to do that, nothing could be found. During the "coffee club" meetings, Van Tongeren had successfully smuggled out or liquidated most of the Dutch Masonic resources and his daughter, Jacoba Van Tongeren, used a great deal of the resulting money to fund Group 2000, a wildly successful resistance campaign that fought via the press as well as direct armament against the Nazis for the remainder of the war. 14.01.2022 We had an amazing time at the Beaudesert Show Society this weekend shout out to everyone that came down to show their support and special mention to our team who gave up time on Friday and Saturday to help us raise funds for our chosen charities. 13.01.2022 Whilst it is not unusual for a father to bring his son into the Craft; it is a rare occurrence for a son to assist his father. This happened at Beaudesert Lodge at their January meeting. Bro. Jacob OBrien (Southport Lodge) assisted Bro. Ed Orszulak (SW & Master Elect) to invest his father, Bro. Justin OBrien with the Badge of an Entered Apprentice. Bro. Justin a.k.a. "Yorkie" originally hailed from Bradford, Yorkshire, England and emigrated with his family to Queensland som...e 17 years ago. "Yorkie" is a stonemason/bricklayer by trade and always quick with an amusing quip. From the very beginning, as a candidate, Bro. Justin has been highly involved with the Lodge supporting its charity events and offering his aid whenever he has been called upon. Bro. Justin is pictured with son, Jacob (inset), on his right and W. Bro. Booker (Master) on left surround by Beaudesert members and visiting Brethren from Tamborine and Rathdowney Lodges See more
12.01.2022 Brother Colour Sergeant Johnson Beharry VC, being interviewed on the BBC today for Armistice Day. He isn't hiding his light! He was awarded his Victoria Cross (...The British equivalent of the American Medal of Honour) for two separate acts of valour. On 1 May 2004, Bro Beharry was driving a Warrior Armoured Fighting Vehicle, called to the assistance of a foot patrol caught in a series of ambushes in Iraq. His vehicle was struck by several Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), which knocked out his periscope, all Radios, His commander, Gunner, and other inside were injured. Bro Beharry drove his Warrior through the ambush with the drivers hatch wide open, leaving him exposed to gunfire and further RPGs. He led 5 other Warriors following him to safety. He then assisted in extracting the wounded from his vehicle. His citation stated that his actions on 1 May 2004 were "Valour of the highest order". but that wasn't all. On 20 June 2004, Bro Beharry was again driving his Warrior as lead vehicle in Al Amarah, Iraq, when it was attacked with RPGs. The first RPG round struck just 6 from his head causing him severe facial and head injuries. As before, further RPGs struck the vehicle, injuring his Commander and crew. Despite his injuries, he drove the vehicle out of the ambush and to safety, whereupon he fell unconscious. He was still recovering from his wounds in March 2005, when HM Queen Elizabeth II awarded him the VC.

02.01.2022 Today we mark the 100th anniversary of the ending of The First World War. Over 415,000 men and women served and of these some 62,000 made the supreme sacrifice.... One-third of these deaths were Victorians. Over 2200 Victorian Freemasons enlisted to fight in the conflict and 236 were killed. The first Victorian to be awarded a Victoria Cross was Bro. Lance Corporal Albert Jacka.
