The fireplace looks amazing and so will that piece of pressed tin, when it’s snipped to size. 25.01.2022 The last room to be attended to at The Beehive gets a wriggle on today. This will be our workshop/meeting/banquet/conference/sharing room, much like a Salon of the 1700’s where women were first invited to share intellectual ideas and notions amongst the interesting people of the day. Layers of paint and wallpaper adorn these walls as you would expect from a building that dates back to the 1880’s, but none of it can be saved unfortunately. It’s fragile underneath the paint an...d memories of the yesteryear are retained in only these snippets you see here. Just as care is being put back into the building as we prepare it for you to utilise, evidence of the skills of yore live beneath today’s layers. #handpaintedwallpaper #timehonoured #thesalon

22.01.2022 The windows are huge at The Beehive so custom blinds and curtains are being made because there’s nothing off the shelf that’s the right size! In keeping with a natural elegance, most of the blinds are made from hessian and the curtains a flowy muslin, only there’s 13 windows that need covering and there’s definitely work to be done! #customblinds #humblefolkcreativedesign #sweetlight
22.01.2022 Pressed tin is a subtle feature in a couple of the rooms here at The Beehive Society and the first piece that was purchased was destined to go above the mantel. Recycled wood replaced the previous mantel piece, which curved around the corner with no panache and finally the instalment of the fireplace fancy bit, with it’s nostalgic nod, is completed!

18.01.2022 With the updating of The Beehive space from dilapidated to classic elegance taking time, once we’re officially open, you’ll see why the time was necessary. Details of custom attention will be found everywhere, just like this vintage floor lamp. Found at a garage sale with a hideous, (seriously unusable) floral shade, this lamp was remade with natural burlap in keeping with the blinds you can see here tucked behind the muslin curtains. 13.01.2022 After having a winter slumber, work is back on at The Hive and this is the latest instalment. As this wall has structural elements that are holding up the building, it was going to be difficult putting art on the surface, so ever the instigator of solutions, this queen got handy with the drill and some rope. 06.01.2022 Winter has left Gaelle dragging her sweet time with project completion at The Hive, but today the tables in The Salon were levelled out. Seating 12 people comfortably, the two tables started off at different heights and then with the wonkiness of the floor itself, there was a fair bit to do to get them so you won’t feel like your food or folder would slide down the table! 06.01.2022 Ahhh, the big room... painting began last week on this mammoth task. I know some of you are gutted, as I am to see the last of the wallpaper’s glimpses of the past. Here’s what going on today. The wallpaper isn’t stuck to the wall anymore, so as it gets peeled back to prepare for the freshen up and the layers of the past cannot be saved unfortunately. 05.01.2022 Fellowship of the Feminine is a workshop series which was a big part of why The Beehive Society came about. . Women sitting around the table, talking, eating, drinking and supporting each other through being present and with hearty conversation is something we no longer have. . Women now meet up as mothers groups, down at the wine bar and in the gym, but not simply around the table whilst they knit, shell peas or make apple pies.... . Smudge Posies arent your average smudge stick or bundle and why would they ever need to be! Components for our posies will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring what they might have from their own garden or crystal stash, so we might be able to share the magic we all have. . 02.01.2022 Ok, so the kitchen area is looking pretty spesh now! The water has been connected to the coffee machine and were waiting on a water filter now so our guests cuppas taste gooood! No power yet though, it requires special phasing, so our ceramic take-a-way mugs are still in use. . Its so cute isnt it. Funny, seeing my vision for this room is well over a year old, now I see it all up and done, I cant remember that it wasnt like this before. Still things to get onto the wall..., but then, like other rooms, its just updating the power point access and dropping my many pendant lights in, oh theres a few... .
