05.01.2022 Folks, This should help as you anguish over your selection for the Bellarine candidates. Born and raised in Swan Hill - Settled in Drysdale 40+ years ago bui...lt own home & raised family of 4. Background skills in Quantity Surveying / Business owner - operator/ Project Management First experience with Council was with the Shire of Bellarine great relationships / no VCAT necessary. Amalgamation in 1993 and fast forward to today relationships vastly different / to handle the integration and growth particularly the role of Councillors as both defacto directors of CoGG and community representatives. Past 16 years - Councillor 2004 - 08 and full time active community advocate. Challenge now is to rebuild and reconnect our communities with Council. The game breaker is the new Local Government Act 2020 / descriptive not prescriptive Two key principles / Community Engagement & Service Performance ( opportunity for PPP or BOOT type coinvestment schemes ) Now to today / Post Covid and Federal Government Budget / more than ever the need for us all to proact rather than react . we must be proactive not reactive. Three key steps I’m proposing - 1. Develop the visions and missions for each of our townships and villages along with the relationships to the marine, coastal, and rural elements. 2. Develop the priorities, the partners, and the budgets 3. Construct our Plan for The Bellarine Important that we take the initiative and share the work load with Council .
