25.01.2022 This was the best wave I got, at Mavericks Saturday! Hahaha! Thats me flying through the air, trying to put as much space between myself and the potentially doomed boat. Enjoy......

25.01.2022 Just in time Jason Sims

25.01.2022 Hi Folks Call in and order you Christmas seafood soon. We have caught quite a few snapper this trip, can feed a large gathering at Christmas. Flathead also looks like being on the menu, the boys are due back middle of the week. Wishing you all the best for the festive season.

23.01.2022 Rick Walker, some 2.5mm mono has arrived mate

20.01.2022 Did some say swordfish? Like a kid in a candy store going through this new stock!

19.01.2022 Lachlan Brazier needs some practice before he catches up with dad.

18.01.2022 Thought it might be a good idea to have a look at a few photos from way back when Facebook wasnt anything like it was now. Heres one from 2009 of Steve Hambleton and a fly caught mako he and Craig Rist caught off Devonport. When Steve was at the pulp he was the maddest, keenest angler I knew, but his boat hasnt been on the water in 3 years!! 2009 and this photo hasnt got one single "Like", bet it would get a few these days!

18.01.2022 Thanks everyone for "Liking" The Boat Shack page, we are getting new followers daily and have had some loyal followers over the years. Now PLEASE go over and LIKE our new business Seamaster Fishing Supplies - Devonport , This is where all the action will be happening from know on!!

17.01.2022 Getting serious now! Coming up to that time of the year again, a small mako caught off Bridport last weekend so they are on there way.

17.01.2022 Nice day on the water and a few salmon holed up on East Devonport Beach

16.01.2022 Keep up to date with whats biting and check out our new store Seamaster Fishing Supplies

16.01.2022 Its going to be a great season with the boys into the snapper this week.

16.01.2022 Signs are up and stock is growing daily!! Past the Mersey yacht club, Kelly Transport on the corner and the next building is us, look for the Seamaster signs and drive to the rear of the property behind Prairie Signs.

16.01.2022 After 21 years of serving the local fishing community and having been personally involved in 13 of those years, its time for a change. The Boat Shack has joined with Plastic Fabrications / The PFG Group to bring Seamaster Fishing Supplies to the NW Coast. We have moved to 129 Wright St in East Devonport, in the same complex as Prairie Signs, next to Chas Kelly Transport. We are currently hard at work setting up a huge amount of stock in a large warehouse and signs will be up over the next few days. All the usual boating and fishing equipment will be available as well as a lot of totally unique products. Thank you to all my loyal customers over the years and I look forward to exciting times ahead. Harry.

14.01.2022 Tide tables out this week

13.01.2022 April 2010 and weve got Steve Hambleton again, this time with a King George whiting. Being caught more regularly in recent years, particularly at Georges bay, St Helens and the far north west around Smithton. Locally, I have seen them at Pardoe and Moorlands Beaches, in sandy "holes" adjacent to reef and weed.

12.01.2022 Doing a bit of towage on a Saturday morning

12.01.2022 Ever seen a bird fishing? Using bread for bait? Me neither... at least until today when Skip Nantz shared this short video.

11.01.2022 Plenty of Bream in our rivers still. Secret Squirrel Nathan Stuart has nailed a couple of good ones on plastics the past couple of days.

10.01.2022 This is what weve been waiting for! Jason Sims and Badger Jago cracked the snapper today off Devonport, the best went 6.5kg!!

09.01.2022 Great information direct from Marine and Safety Tasmania - MAST

08.01.2022 If you have a square shaped GME brand EPIRB please check your serial number to see if it coincides with those listed below.

07.01.2022 Dick Emery has been nailing the bream on soft plastics this season, here is his best to date, 465mm!! taken on a squidgy wriggler in Wasabi colour from the Mersey River. The wasabi wriggler is one of the top bream plastics and will work anywhere. Please remember to respect fish this size and release them to continue breeding.

07.01.2022 Who remembers when they tried to ban fishing for Mako?? Well heres Big Steve Hambleton again with a Thresher he caught off Devonport the day before the ban was supposed to come in. Steve decided if he wasnt allowed to fish for his beloved makos then hed find another species to target . . . . and caught one. Threshers are surprisingly common in our local waters and represent another untapped fishery, I wonder how long it will take.

07.01.2022 That's one way to cross a bar.

06.01.2022 The word on the water at the moment is SNAPPER and the best way to catch snapper is by anchoring. We all know pulling an anchor is a chore, so have a read of this article and check out the SAV anchor winches in stock now

06.01.2022 Salty is on the board!

05.01.2022 Shane Rose your knives are awaiting collection.

05.01.2022 Plenty of squid about at the moment, no prizes for guessing where this one was caught.

05.01.2022 Ruth Aherne, your horse ropes are ready :-)

04.01.2022 Check out Kapten Boats & Collars , a great idea to improve saftey and performance. I have personally fitted five of these to commercial vessels and can highly recommend them.

03.01.2022 Thats one way to cross a bar.

03.01.2022 Taking a break from splicing Cray pot ropes to whip up some eight plait mooring lines for the Dell Richey.

03.01.2022 No need to brave highland snow with silver bullets like this available from our coastal estuaries.

02.01.2022 Ive spent the winter renovating the shop, creating more space and a new lay out. Stock levels have doubled and there are some great new products and special deals on older stock. Concentrating on more "unique" products, you will still find the basic fishing tackle and boat gear that you need day to day. For expert advice and friendly service, call in and check out the new look store!!

01.01.2022 Bit going on at the MYC
