20.01.2022 Pilates is for everybody and all ages. The wonderful Pat working on the Core Align just shy of her 80th Birthday . What an inspiration!

17.01.2022 Dear clients of the Bodimind Centre In light of the current public health crisis affecting our nation and abroad, we are closely following the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Department of Health websites. So far we are able to continue our daily routines as long as we maintain social distance and keep up with our stringent hygiene protocols. We are taking all necessary precautions to keep our business as safe as possible. This will include minimising our class sizes... where possible, to allow clients additional space. During this time, we kindly request your help in maintaining a safe and clean environment by following these steps: 1. If you have one or any combination of the following flu like symptoms: fever, cough, sore throat, dizziness, and shortness of breath - please do not come into the studio. Contact your GP or call the government COVID-19 hotline. Even if your symptoms are mild. 2. Please do not come into the studio if you have been in direct contact with anyone who has the above symptoms, or who is being tested for, or confirmed with COVID-19. This also applies if you have travelled internationally in recent weeks. 3. We ask that you return to the studio only after the two week isolation period, and if you are symptom free. Please contact us if this is the case - we are happy to assist with rescheduling your sessions. 4. Please wash your hands with soap (for 20 seconds) and use the sanitiser provided on arrival at the studio. 5. Please clean mats, equipment and small apparatus following every use with the disinfectant cleaner and wipes provided. 6. Please bring your own towel and clean socks, and take all personal items with you when you leave. 7. Please try to maintain a distance of 1.5m from other clients when in the studio - our smaller classes will assist with this. We are here to help and will accommodate your needs where we can. Please speak with us if you have any concerns. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed of changes. Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Look after yourselves and your loved ones Stay well, Arwen

17.01.2022 Makarlu shoulder rotation I like this exercise as a way to bring focus into placement of the shoulder, improving pronation and supination by using the #makarlu... base. Really a lovely and simple way to build shoulder awareness @manuelalcazarr @carla_mullins_ @pilateswestend

16.01.2022 Makarlu elephant trunk I love this version for hand strength( you can take parts of the Makarlu out to reduce weigh) and for elbow/shoulder work. Nice exercise ...to slip in to either a reformer or mat class. It is also a great exercise to work in for those clients with tennis or golf elbow. We recently wrote a detailed blog on tennis elbow if you want to know more about how Body Organics can help you (www.bodyorganics.com.au/blog) Hand and wrist strength is so important and often forgotten. We will be teaching some makarlu classes at #PAA2019 #makarlu @severine_one @carla_mullins_ @body_organics_studios #tenniselbow #pilates #pilatesforhands #pilateswestendbrisbane #pilatessouthbrisbane #pilatesannerley #pilatestrainingaustralia

12.01.2022 The Bodimind Centre is open! It’s been a tough couple of months, and we’ve missed our wonderful Pilates family . We look forward to welcoming all our lovely clients back, and we also have openings for new clients. ... There are a few changes to our operations as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. These include smaller class sizes and additional cleaning and hygiene measures. We are doing our best to make sure that we all stay safe and healthy - but can keep moving. To book a class, or find out more about Pilates at the Bodimind Centre, contact Arwen at [email protected]

07.01.2022 WHY PILATES FOR SENIORS? Pilates is a great choice for seniors because it builds core strength which helps to improve stability. Falling is one of most common... injuries for seniors and with brittle bones, this can have dire consequences. Balanced Body, Inc. says 'Pilates has been documented to slow or reverse the effects of debilitating diseases like Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis. The mid-range motion of the exercises can help people overcome rigidity and become more limber. It can even help with brain traumas like a stroke.' With its low-impact, gentle and holistic approach, Pilates strengthens the body while providing older adults with more confidence in their ability to move around and get the most out of life. 06.01.2022 The magic circle we never get tired of all the fabulous variations you can use it for like these two options such good feedback for head, ribcage and shou...lder placement think of pressing the forehead (not the occipital junction) gently back into the circle handle to get some deep neck flexor action (hello abdominals) also get that humeral external rotation and BAM, the triceps are quivering #pilates #pilatesitc #movementeducation #funcircletimes See more

06.01.2022 Fuse and cuff stepping We were having fun in Goulburn exploring stepping and running. I like the way the ankle cuff can help encourage hamstring activation. Th...e arm spring helps activate the posterior oblique muscular sling, so as to assist glute activation in the supporting leg. If her foot was collapsing too much we would place the #makarlu timber base under that foot to support stability. The #fuseladder can be substituted with your trapeze table. However, I find the height and variability of the Fuse Ladder the better option for this series. #pilateswestendbrisbane #pilatesannerley #pilatesforrunners #pilatestraining #pilateswithprops @body_organics_studios @carla_mullins_ #pilatesforgait
