25.01.2022 The big winners of Australia Post’s parcel post changes are book buyers. Books that needed a 1kg bag at $11.55 last year, nearly all fit into the new small $9.20 bag this year.

17.01.2022 I handle a lot of used books. Before selling, I clean and disinfect them with rubbing alcohol. It dries so quickly the book cover isn’t damaged. The big bonus is knowing that my hands are clean and that my customers won’t pick up any nasties. If you buy used books from op shops or secondhand bookstores, make sure to clean your hands and the book. These days, I would disinfect new books too.

07.01.2022 The Royal Western Australian Historical Society gave a rave book review to Phyllis Barnes OAM Early Bunbury: People and Places. They especially liked the detailed index. You can buy the book from the RWAHS bookshop and from The Book Merchant.

05.01.2022 I’d rather more money be allocated to the wonderful work the National Library is doing digitising Australian historical sources in Trove.

Phyllis has had access to many images, maps and pieces of information that most of us didn't know existed. She's included them in her beautifully printed book.
