14.01.2022 Are you clinically extremely vulnerable to COVID-19? We have some new Government advice for you. If you are in this group, you will previously have received a letter from the NHS or from your GP telling you this and you may have been advised to shield in the past. The government said today that it will only reintroduce formal shielding advice in the very worst affected local areas and for a limited time. Read the latest guidance here: https://www.gov.uk//guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-e

14.01.2022 A SSP Health lead GP has urged people not to neglect their health and to contact their surgery with medical concerns despite the new Coronavirus restrictions. Dr Atif Shafique said GP surgeries were ‘open for business’ despite the new tiered restrictions beginning today in many areas of the North West. Dr Shafique said: Despite the new rules in place, GP surgeries are very much open for business and there are no restrictions for you to contact us. Most appointments are now ...carried out on the phone, so in many cases there is no need to leave your home to be treated. For example, if you have a rash you could speak to the doctor on the phone about it, send us a picture and we can send any necessary creams to the chemist electronically. All from the convenience of your home whilst also reducing the spread of COVID-19 However, we understand there are situations where a face-to-face appointment is necessary, such as for certain examinations, and in these specific circumstances we will ask you to attend the surgery, where we do have processes in place to keep everyone as safe as possible from COVID-19. GP surgeries have had to adapt to the pandemic but at no time were practices closed to their patients. We are all working harder than ever. It is important that you contact your surgery if you have any health concerns. You may be able to find the information you require through online consultation or arrange an appointment. So please do not neglect your health. Despite COVID, we are here for you. See more

04.01.2022 Most of our appointments are now telephone consultations due to Coronavirus. Consultations with your GP on the phone are proving to be highly successful across the country and keep you and our staff safer from COVID. Patients are giving great feedback about them, including this one from an anonymous patient at The Bowery: Great telephone consultation! Sceptical of a telephone consultation for back pain, I was proven wrong by the GP at the end of the phone. She took my hist...ory in great detail and managed to elucidate the signs and symptoms and prescribe what I can only say a life-saving medication and rest which shall enable me to go back to work after three weeks. I protested against the prescribed rest, but she said I would need it and three days in pain, I heeded to her advice which has given me time to recover in body and spirit. See more

03.01.2022 Our numbers of COVID-positive patients being admitted to St Helens and Whiston Hospitals have doubled over the last week. We are now seeing hospital admission r...ates rising to a similar level to those in March/April. Sadly, increasing hospital admission rates can mean more people may lose their lives. Let's help to keep our loved ones safe - remember: hands, face, space.

02.01.2022 So proud of our SSP Health colleagues in the spotlight at a national healthcare awards ceremony...
