24.01.2022 Canungra Markets are back next weekend!!

24.01.2022 The Shoe Vault celebrating six years in business. Congratulations!

23.01.2022 Putting the October edition of Canungra Times together at the moment and it's a different ball game these days. After working on my own for about 10 years, it's great to have a couple of people around helping to share the workload. I have to say, The Canungra Times has always been dependent on the input from the community - and what a great community we have. ... Whether it is the local businesses who support us through advertising or people who send articles or columns in, the support has always been incredible, and very much appreciated. Then there are the people who just pop in or send a message to see how I'm going, friends I've met through the paper or people I haven't met but feel comfortable to touch base that way. It's an important part of a small town newspaper and I feel really privileged to be part of this community. Thank you, Canungra, just for being you.

23.01.2022 Deadline 12 noon this Friday!!

22.01.2022 CANUNGRA RSL SUB BRANCH BUILDING TO BE SOLD Canungra RSL Sub-Branch members have voted to put the Pine Street building up for sale. A Special General Meeting of members was held at the Club on Sunday 27th September 2020.... Following a contentious debate, Canungra RSL Sub-Branch members voted ten to four in favour of a motion to sell the building. Canungra RSL Services Club had operated in the building until 2014. In November 2013 a motion to wind up the Club was withdrawn after a rescue package came from Nerang RSL & Memorial Club. However, Canungra was not able to operate profitably and the Club closed briefly in November 2014, reopening after negotiations recommenced with Nerang. Nerang Memorial Club took on a ten year lease in 2014 to run the Canungra Services Club from the Pine Street location, which included licences for 10 poker machines. In December 2019, Nerang handed back the lease, paying out the remaining five years in rent. The building has been vacant in the ten months since Nerang RSL & Memorial Club handed back the lease. A group of local people have attempted to garner support to run another Club in the premises, however this has not been successful, with repairs to the building required before it can be leased. The land and building was donated to the Canungra RSL Sub-Branch in 1954. The Canungra RSL Sub-Branch is a separate entity to the Canungra Services Club and will continue to operate to run memorial services and to look after veterans’ welfare.

06.01.2022 A group of locals in Beaudesert is fighting to save century-old saleyards as the town undergoes an $8 million dollar development. Some residents are concerned the town is losing it's agricultural roots as urban sprawl encroaches on the regional hub, just an hour away from Brisbane.
