05.01.2022 Short Walks | Historic Houses of Carrick Following on from our Historic Deloraine post last week, this week we look at Historic Houses of Carrick. Originally kn...own as Lyttleton, the historic township of Carrick lies 17km southwest of Launceston on the banks of the Liffey River. The town was originally established in 1818 by Thomas Reiby to house the workers commissioned to build nearby Entally House. Of the 20 colonial buildings showcased on this walk, fifteen are listed on the Tasmanian Heritage Register, including Carrick House (1840), St Andrew's Church (1848), the Old Watch house (1837), Monds Roller Mill (1846) and the Carrick Hotel (1833). Many of the buildings have been carefully restored to their former glory.
