17.01.2022 Top Reasons to Become a Catechist.... by Joe Paprocki At this time of the year, many Catholics find themselves considering an invitation to become a catechist in their parish. Directors/Coordinators of Religious Education/Faith Formation, Pastoral Associates, Priests, and Deacons are all seeking out those who have the potential to serve in this role. Perhaps you’ve been invited to be a catechist. Perhaps you know someone who is thinking about becoming a catechist. Or perhaps ...you are the one doing the inviting. Whatever the case may be, I offer the following reasons for becoming a catechist. Top Reasons to Become a Catechist..... You will grow in your own faith, learn the teachings of the Church, and deepen your relationship with Jesus. Children, teens, and adults in today’s world, more than ever, need to hear the Good News of Jesus and need to encounter good role models of faith. You have much to share with those you’ll teach, and you’ll have opportunities to share faith with other catechists. Today’s catechetical textbooks/resources offer outstanding support. You’ll be challenged, you’ll have fun, and you’ll make new friends. You’ll be helping people deepen their relationship with Jesus. For more information call or email the Parish Catechist coordinators: Maureen Wooldridge - 9997 4694 or Veronica Thomas - [email protected]

12.01.2022 This Sunday marks Sunday of the Word of God, a new observance to be celebrated in Australia on the 1st Sunday of February each year. Pope Francis reminds us that when we read the Scriptures, we are entering into a true dialogue, a true encounter, a participation in the great story of salvation. As well as speaking to us personally, the Scriptures speak to us communally, for we urgently need to grow in our knowledge and love of the Scriptures and of the risen Lord, who continues to speak his word and to break bread in the community of believers. (Aperuit Illis, 8) We are encouraged to see this day of the Word of God as a year-long event, where we grow in our knowledge and love of the Scriptures. Consider taking some steps to read or study the Scriptures more this year. https://bbcatholic.us8.list-manage.com/track/click
