23.01.2022 Important notice concerning the 2021 Gathering

21.01.2022 Thursday 9 July 2020 CLAN MACLEOD WORLD GATHERING 2021 CANCELLED The anticipated April 2021 Clan World Gathering at McLaren Vale near Adelaide South Australia, has been cancelled by the South Australian regional Clan Society due to the Coronavirus pandemic. 2 main points being; uncertainties for the immediate future,... giving sufficient notice to people to amend their travel plans. The SA Clan MacLeod committee considered the following factors:- Australia’s travel restrictions and isolation requirements. A new global wave of infection and outbreaks within Australia. Sudden State social restrictions could apply anytime. To not risk people’s health, and plans; nor risk committing significant money to the event from this date. They are sorry for disappointing folk, who were looking forward to this Gathering, ourselves foremost, and the Clan Chiefs of MacLeod :- Lewes and Raasay, as presenters. The Committee believes that this is the correct decision, founded on their planning. The Clan holds some hope that in August 2021 a scaled down event, MacLeod Week, may yet be an occasion for clanfolk to come if they can, and celebrate the MacLeod heritage in South Australia, since 1838. ### Direct enquiries about this announcement to Alex McLeod, Convenor: [email protected] Learn more about Clan MacLeod in South Australia on our website: www.cmssa.org.au and on facebook. 11.01.2022 Hugh MacLeod and his team at Dunvegan were very sorry to hear the sad news about Dolly MacLeod’s passing last Friday. We extend our sincere condolences to her f...amily and friends. Dolly worked at the castle for over 20 years as a guide and retired in her 80s. One of the many fond memories Chief Hugh has is of one cold morning after a severe snow storm when he saw Dolly and Mary wading through snow drifts down the back drive to open the castle to phantom (non-existent) tourists in mid-winter. Loyalty, dedication and a wonderful sense of humour were just some of her trademarks. She was 93, a larger than life and much loved member of our community, who always had a subversive twinkle in her eye. Dolly will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her. RIP.

10.01.2022 A big ‘Thank You’ to member Mick Murphy for making a new banner stand for our ‘Harris Banner’ to compliment the Lewis stand he made for us a few years ago.
