24.01.2022 I planted heaps of these pretties in my vegie garden ages ago. They look so sweet poking their little heads out between the beetroot and cabbages. But I had a thought the other day that I should be using them for more than just looking at, so I've decided to dry some to use as soap and cake decorations. You can dry any flowers or herbs this way. Just arrange them out on paper towel and leave them there in the open air until they are crispy before you store them in glass jars ...in a dark cupboard so they don't fade. You can also use pansies and violets fresh to add to salads too if you had the urge Pretty & useful...just the way I like things!

24.01.2022 Gluten Free Peanut Butter Bickies. This is an old recipe of mine, and those who have made it in the past told me they thought they were the BEST EVER gluten free peanut butter bickies they had ever tried! Even better than ones with wheat flour. ... Really I hear you say? Yep...really! Ingredients 1 cup peanut butter (must be spreadable but not runny) If the peanut butter isn't salted, add a couple of pinches cup brown sugar 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp bicarb METHOD 1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. 2. Combine ingredients and drop by teaspoon amounts on baking tray. Press down with a fork. Bake for 8 minutes. Let cool. EAT - BE HAPPY - REPEAT

23.01.2022 I'm MIA at the moment. Off grid camping...in a camper trailer...with our dog...in 32 degree heat and gale force winds. Fun times Anyhoo...on the plus side I found a bounty of elderflowers on my walks so I'm going to make elderflower syrup...camping style! You know...cause vodka on it's own can be boring

22.01.2022 Isn't this just the happiest little garden bed. Full of beetroot & leeks with some little smiling faces popping up to keep them company I have a day of renovating and then tomorrow a walk around the flower bowl at Camden Head tomorrow. Hopefully we will see sime beautiful wild flowers. What's everyone else up to?

18.01.2022 My Natural Soap Making Online Class is almost ready to launch. I'm putting the final touches to it, and checking it over constantly to make sure it's right. I can't wait to finally press the button...I'm pretty excited
14.01.2022 I've been on an enforced sugar free and bread free diet for a couple of months Apparently eating half a loaf of freshly baked sourdough isn't that good for you after all Anyhoo, the hubby was complaining he hadn't had anything sweet for months, so I thought I better rectify that, but in a refined sugar and almost gluten free way. Enter these granola bars. ... Nuts, oats, linseeds, chia seeds, coconut, cranberries and honey. I only tasted a teeny square but they were super delish! Honey, Almond & Cranberry Granola Bars 1/2 cup honey 1/3 cup butter or coconut oil 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 cup almonds (coarsely chopped) cup dried cranberries cup flaked, or shredded coconut 2 Tablespoons linseed's 1 Tablespoon chia seeds 3 cups rolled oats (gluten free if needed) Pinch salt Method 1.Combine the honey and the butter or coconut oil in a medium pot. Bring to a simmer then once the honey mixture starts foaming on the surface, time it for another 1 minutes. No need to stir as it foams. (this step is important to make sure it reduces enough to make the mixture stick together). 2.When time is up, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla & salt. Allow to cool for 10 minutes in the pot. 3.While the honey mixture is cooling, prepare a slice tin with baking paper approximately 8 x 10 inch or similar. 4.Place all the dry ingredients into a large bowl then stir in the honey mixture. Combine until everything is coated. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin, then using the back of a large spoon or rubber spatula, press the mixture into the tin very firmly. (this will help it stick together). Spraying the spoon or spatula with oil will help to make this job easier. Repeat pressing the mixture again another two times to ensure it’s really packed down. 5.Place the tray into the fridge to set overnight. Cut into bars and keep stored in a container in the fridge. In cooler weather these can stay at room temperature for up to 3 days, however they are best stored in the fridge for up to 7 days or in the freezer for 2 3 months.

04.01.2022 I think I've stumbled on a gardening hack I planted 3 broccoli plants in front of my snow pea trellis. I never got around to covering them with vegie netting to stop white cabbage moths from laying eggs on them....but...check this out! My broccoli plants are still pest free ... This might be an old theory but I'm thinking that the white snow pea flowers have deterred them...what do you think?
