02.01.2022 It's a fact, men have a higher sex drive than women! It might seem like a cliché, but the reality is that generally men have more interest in sex than women. In fact, 51% of men would like to have sex at least every day compared to only 7% of women. When couples experience a mismatch in their levels of sexual desire, this can cause a wide variety of problems. These can range from the obvious such as dissatisfaction with their sex life, to more deeply felt concerns and fears... about body image and self-esteem, the love their partner has for them, infidelity and the future of the relationship. Men can feel rejected, unwanted and as though their manhood has been challenged, while women can carry a lot of guilt, lose their sense of self and fear that their inability to match their partner’s level of desire will lead to the end of the relationship. Low sexual desire is the most frequent reason for individuals or couples to access psychological services for a sexual difficulty yet it is a problem that we still understand relatively little about. This research will investigate the consequences and distress felt when one member in a couple experiences lower sexual desire than the other. The results of this research will help us to better understand how mismatched sexual desire effects individuals and couples so that we can better support people impacted by this common issue. In particular, this research will help us to develop a new way of measuring the consequences and distress felt when individuals or couples experience some level of sexual desire difficulty. Ultimately, this deeper understanding will allow for better education of individuals and professionals about sexual desire, and improve our ability to offer assistance to couples who access psychological assistance for this problem. See the links below to take the 10 minute survey and to read some great articles by the Psychologist and couples therapist behind the research, Rebecca Frost. https://prodsurvey.rcs.griffith.edu.au/TheCouplesStudy http://www.benchmarkpsychology.com.au/its-a-fact-men-have-/ http://www.havenmagazine.com.au/love-finding-it-and-making/

02.01.2022 We just ticked over to 400 participants! Keep them coming everyone :)
