11.01.2022 Tension simmers from the white hot heat of the cold hard truth That I never heard up in no classroom Coming to understand, that I got blood on my hands Cost of living in this sunburnt land From the sands of the coast to the bush... We advanced as we came And we pushed as they pulled so we took And what we gave in exchange Plague, disease and poison in the bottle No question, blood stains the wattle Was it like a game of hide and seek? Stalking through the bush silently Cos society told em to do it quietly From the Apple Isle to the Myall Creek Gun barrels rang out and put an end to what might've been Genocide, lies, deceit, rape and massacre Systematic assassination of character Acts of depravity disguised as charity All in the name of civilising humanity Children snatched away from their families Pain resonates leaving untold casualties Protection boards and half castes The truth is the flag ought fly at half mast It's a dark past buried in our own backyard Still I can't stand the thought that it's all too hard Or the heartless catch cry that "it's all in the past" Yo that sounds like a coward's remarks This is happening right now, outback third world conditions That never seem to make our televisions Screens to congested with the rhetoric of politicians Grandiose claims about Australian traditions Enquiries and royal commissions That are yet follow through to a conviction Loyal subjects protected by the system Too many dying in our prisons Like a Palm Island man left lying on a cold cell floor While the people looked for justice in a makeshift court The response just stopped short of martial law With the riot squad kicking down doors I remember at fifteen, walking through The Block, feeling nervous Cos my whole life I'd heard that it was risky The racist in me, what a crock of shit I stopped to think the opposite when the streets burned for T.J Hickey Don't ask why, what's the use in that? Cops roll past in red, white and blue of the Union Jack Subtile oppression, bubbling menace Maintain the presence, make the population feel threatened Now fate beckons, hear the echoes As the pain resonates devastation Every January 26 I'm torn between wanting to celebrate And hang my head in shame There's gotta be a better way, let me say [-0-] See more

04.01.2022 UPDATE 9/3/2020 This morning I spoke to Tony. his friend and his nephew. The family have taken charge of the situation with Tony's house. The first step is, a ...fence is being erected probably this week. This will keep the crims scum and thieves out at least. Then the family will consider what to do next. The house is in a really poor condition with even copper piping being stolen so no plumbing. Thanks SO MUCH to all of the kind offers of help, and now we need to just leave it in the hands of the family. Be warned crim types, many more eyes are now on the house and the police will be called if anyone is seen in the yard. Cheers, Lorese Tonys place. On Monday 2 of March I came home to find two young women in the process of digging up a fig tree from Tonys place on Macarthur Avenue OConnor. When I asked them what they were doing they claimed to be rescuing fruit trees because the house was obviously abandoned and anyhow they heard it was to be bulldozed along with two blocks near it for units. I asked how they knew this; They read it somewhere unfortunately there has been some disrespectful conversation about this house and yard in this group and may have been where the knowledge came from. I spoke to Tony, his brother & his friend yesterday. Tony still owns the house and at the moment there are no plans for sale or demolition. Tony is so distressed about the constant attacks on his house, he shook his head in disbelief with tears in his eyes when he heard about the assault on his tree. Theyd also ripped out a bucket of plants and left them there. Tony took them home to try to replant them but they were half dead by the time he saw them. Tony or his brother or friend or nephew tend the garden daily. OK the yard is a mess, his neighbours wish hed clean it up from time to time but, well, we live and let live and Tony has provided free veggies for years. Tony is not some old Italian guy as someone on here described him. He is a human being, he is 84 years old, he is fighting cancer. He has lived in the street from when he was a young man and worked on the building of the houses in Macarthur Place. In time he brought his mum and dad out from Italy and they lived on the property too. They came after the WWII for a better life in Australia and the whole family prospered. Some years ago Tony tried to help some young men who he thought needed a job, they were bad sorts. When they couldnt extort any more money from him they totally destroyed the inside of his house and they bashed him as well. They rifled through the memories of his parents - documents and photos looking for valuables. They squatted in his shed and finally burned it down. While being treated for cancer and then recovering at his sisters home, Tonys already vandalised house became somewhere for lowlifes who were attending parties next door to further smash the windows and graffiti the whole outside of his house. Tony could no longer come home to this unsafe situation - his family would not let him, but as I said, he still tends his garden. Can you please, all members on here, show Tony some respect. Taking anything from his yard is stealing, walking onto the block to take photos is trespass. Rather than spread gossip about how you might squat in his house or help yourself to his produce, spread the real story and encourage others to have some respect as well.
