23.01.2022 What concerns you the most about your oral health? What are your biggest fears when you think of your mouth? Please if you can take a moment i would love to know and this gathers up information for me too. If can be anything.... Colour, acid wear, gum disease, the way they look, the positioning, bad breath, dry mouth, decay...list goes on. I would love this to be a safe and comfortable platform where you feel opened to me. My concern is getting advanced gum disease (Periodontitis) the type thats not reversible... which in turn long term leads to tooth wobbles and even tooth loss. Almost everyone has some form of wear whether it be from grinding & clenching or whether is be from brushing too hard (tooth brush abrasion) or from acidic wear (tooth erosion) either way this needs to be monitored. , particularly is a type of tooth wear that occurs wearing down the teeth overtime making the teeth shorter and shorter and straight. This wears away your enamel then your dentin resulting in sensitivity and higher risk of getting decay. Attrition is caused by several factors such as natural tooth wear and wear and tear as we age , but the most common cause is grinding and clenching with the force on the teeth with friction particularly overnight this where most of damage happens Here's what to do if your noticing tooth wear or your teeth are starting to appear smaller or experiencing jaw pain. Go and see your dentist regularly for an assessment Discuss options on what you can do such as wearing a night splint to protect the teeth overnight (bruxism another topic) Assess jaw issues or pain (TMD) and what the cause is In severe cases you may need restorative work to build up the teeth to protect them. *This is based on general advice to the population, each individual will vary. Speak to your dental practitioner for more advice if your worried or DM*

16.01.2022 Meet my tribe My anchor to our family, the reason why I started the The Dental Hygiene Studio & Teeth Whitening. I have big plans, I have dreams and in all this uncertainty we live in at the moment unfortunately we had to hold off a little longer. Doesnt mean however, I cant pursue just a small part of my dream and thats to educate, and make people feel so comfortable within themselves. I listen to what my patients NEED and what they want, and I try to help them the b...est I possibly can truthfully and honestly.. 2020 has actually taught me to open up, to realise what I actually wanted in life and just go for it when I have nothing to lose if it means I gave it a go. After over 12 years of being in the dental industry and after so many years of pursuing my dream to become a dental hygienist, I've realised I can make a difference, help people, and seeing patients almost everyday has shown me exactly this and why I love what I do. However none of this possible without my amazing supportive husband and family and friends. The people who believe in me, support me and want to see me thrive and succeed. I do this for my son, so he can grow up to be able to watch his parents and be good role models for him and my future kids. My followers, my new insta friends who I talk to almost daily, the insta tribe you guys are all amazing and its so wonderful to see what instagram is all about. I want people to WANT to follow me because I want these all to be GENUINE followers who are really honestly interested in my future plans and my products & education. So much right now especially for the year of 2020 when we all need that support and mental health check in. Just dont forget to check in to your loved ones, your friends, your family, or simply anyone you meet. Sometimes talking to strangers you find out more about their mental health then someone you know. So please in times like this ...just check in. I have some days where I am not okay. Just send virtual hugs, kisses and support only takes a phone call. Just the other day, I sent some scones over to my neighbour and we had a lovely good chat whilst my son was playing outside. Afterwards she msged me and said just how much of an impact I made on her day. 02.01.2022 M E D I C A L C O N D I T I O N S & O R A L H E A L T H YES. Our head is connected to our body...we cant ignore the rest of our overal health. This topic can go on forever and one of my favourites as its so educational did you know poor oral hygiene and gum disease can link to medical conditions by exacerbating the current condition? There has been many studies to suggest this links to heart disease, diabetes, kidney failure, premature and low birth weight in pregnancy ...and of course more. This is quite common to see when patients look at me in a way of why am I asking about their medical history and medications each time they visit. This is crucial each time not only to ensure we need to ensure its safe to treat a patient in that present time and some medications may have contraindications for dental treatment. , the overal health of a patient is so crucial when forming a diagnosis of their current state. We need to factor in all aspects of the patient. Here at TDHS we always assess the overal health of a patient. Diabetes and gum disease/poor oral hygiene have a direct bidirectional link? Which means we can work with the patient to form a treatment plan and oral health plan on how to be managing oral hygiene whilst having Diabetes. For example if you have poor oral hygiene and gum disease then its likely your Diabetes will also be on a wavelength and vice versa. Diabetes affects the body state of healing which results in delayed wound healing and more prone to inflammation due to the bodies immunocompromised state. Interesting hey? Here are some things you can do Please visit your Dental Practitioner if you have ANY medical conditions- (diabetes, heart, kidney etc) exam and clean done every 3-6 months to ensure all in check and maintained Follow a oral hygiene plan and routine adviced by your practitioner Immunocompromised- high risk of developing dental issues- may need more dental visits. *This information/ advice is based on general information and not on the individual**

02.01.2022 There's a secret to one of the biggest selling teeth whitening kits?.... The LED blue light that is on every page, every whitening page, beauty pages- you name it its there, EVEN US! Whether it's in-chair or take home there is a little secret behind it all and I would love for you all to know about it. Well.. you have heard a lot of times how im always reinforcing the fact that you need to becareful who your buying from (IGTV soon to come still! ) The light is used commonly ...for all dental whitening procedures and this is because it accelerates the process and works with the Hydrogen/CP to make it more effective and faster breaking down absorption. However...for this to happen it needs a special light activating ingredient in it, so which also means its sensitive to light when stored. The bottom line? Those lights you see sold everywhere in the same packaging, with the light and pens, dont contain the light activating ingredient it is simply the new way of whitening and fast and easy to use. What it CAN do, is dehydrate the teeth in the process making them appear to be WHITER after using it..however (your bleach just did all the work) the dehydration disappears after a day. So please don't be fooled when seeing all these whitening kits with the same packaging that it does a whole lot..same goes with in chair whitening when non qualified whitening technicians are using 6% hyrogen peroxide and claim to be " Dental Grade Professional Whitening" that word above gets way too used regularly when not used in the right context. Im so proud to see alot of my dental colleagues getting out and doing the same as me to try and educate our lovely population of cosmetic and dental needs. So what's my bleach you ask? Carefully sourced and packaged locally im able to provide a light activating bleach that will actually accelerate your results and provide faster absorption allowing you to wear for shorter times ,this is why our packaging looks different as its sensitive to even what plastic it goes in.
