25.01.2022 SOLD PENDING I have come into guardianship of the most beautiful book which needs to be passed on to someone who can truly appreciate the history and reference material. "Mrs Leach's Fancy Work Basket" Half yearly volume 3. No date of publication however the previous owner inscribed her name and the year 1903. The book is in excellent antique condition, the spine looks to have been reinforced and is intact with just a few nibbles. A perfect Christmas gift for someone in your life who honours the traditions of embroidery, knitting, crochet, leather work etc. Or a treat for yourself. $50 pp or pick up from The Dusty Mermaid in Geeveston

23.01.2022 The Dusty Mermaid (me, Sarah) is very excited to be heading to the first Franklin Market in a very LONG time tomorrow 10am to 2pm. I'd actually decided to have a break from the marketer life and focus more on the shop but supporting and being involved with the community that has made me feel so welcome is a pretty important part of our business, SO I'll be there with all these clothes and a table of cheap bric a brac. The shop will be opened too, so many reasons to visit the Huon Valley tomorrow

22.01.2022 They say that you rise by lifting others and I always thought that was a bit new agey for me but this week, I felt that vibe to my core. There's some really lovely shop owners and locals in the little town of Geeveston, I feel really lucky how kind and good they are to me. Everyone puts in such a huge effort to provide something special for the visitors and I can't wait til the day that the town booms. We've been through bushfires and a pandemic and we are still standing. If you are wondering what you can do to help small businesses in these uncertain times, jump in your car and visit the Huon Valley, there's so much to enjoy. 21.01.2022 Looking for something to do today? The Market at Franklin is on from 10am until 2pm with lots of lovely gift ideas. The little town of Franklin is definitely worth a stop, follow the road a bit further down and you'll come across Geeveston where again there's lots of little cafes and shops to enjoy including ours

20.01.2022 A whirlwind couple of days catching up with these two Legends means I've come home with a heap of stock. Lots and lots of stock! I'll be in the shop from 10am if you fancy having a look!

20.01.2022 I love being a second hand dealer. I love the history, the art, the clothes, the books. I love finding treasure. The visuals, the textiles. My latest great find was a Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition guide "From the Catwalk to Australia". The front cover drew me in and when I flipped it open oh my goodness, it's signed. What a sneaky little surprise that was I'm going to start selling more books from the shop I think, if I can let them go. Scrolling is well and good but I'm still in love with a beautiful coffee table book or novel, they are pieces of history.

16.01.2022 The Songbirds have arrived! These beautiful hand painted clay birds are just so vibrant and happy! Designed here in Tasmania and hand crafted by a collective of women in Thailand, I am super stoked to now be a stockist and a part of this little community. Each large bird is a paperweight and smaller birds are necklaces and they are whistles! What an awesome Christmas gift idea. Paperweights are $45 each and necklaces are $30. The Dusty Mermaid is not just your average clothing shop, we've filled a huge space with lots of different things, something for everyone!
