25.01.2022 That's a Cod and good looking support. Always be careful of supporting the stomach as he looks like he's doing a good effort here. Where possible get in the water and support the fish closer to its return location. But a common No! No! never hold it from the gills for a vertical shot, the weight of its own guts will detach the throat from it's holding causing irreversible damage and although it may swim off, it will die. Landscape or Horizontal shots of large Cod or other fis...h only, fully support the weight and especially the gut, the higher up the better and where possible close to the water and if available get in the drink and take it on the water. Attention to detail will guarantee a future catch down the track, if he hasn't woken up to you. Always closely identify carefully to avoid removing Trout Cod where possible. Otherwise, Smash It and have fun! See more

23.01.2022 VTakcke, Vince one of the proud Sponsors and great supporters of the EAC Interclub Masters. Support small businesses as he supports us brilliantly!

21.01.2022 Now, what a way to spend a couple of days with a couple of mates wrapping up before Xmas. Former EAC and well-loved member Mark Farrer drift boated the Mighty Goulburn River. He reports it was a stress release pill and thoroughly recommends, saw some amazing areas of water, and all fish caught were released including this unusual but magnificent female Rainbow Trout. Drift Boating the Goulburn sounds like a plan, what a top idea.

20.01.2022 Do you see what I see? Maybe zoom in, or move your phone closer But not that close! These well-camouflaged fry are brown trout, which have been stocked into ...a tributary of the King River as part of a trial supporting the Victorian Wild Trout Strategy. As you can see they blend in pretty well with their surroundings right now, but in years to come we hope they’ll grow far bigger and help to sustain the wild population. We’ve assisted the Australian Trout Foundation Inc to stock 50,000 of these little beauties into a stream that, like many at the moment, was flowing strong. In coming weeks stockings will take place in the Nariel Creek near Corryong, in further trials focussing on an area affected by summer’s bushfires. The strategy was led by ATF and is part of the Victorian Wild Trout Management Program, which is being implemented thanks to your fishing licence fees. #yourfishinglicencefeesatwork #wildtrout #fishstocking

17.01.2022 Blow this shot up and have a good look. A huge school of Snapper working their way along in Port Philip Bay in the 1980's being followed by a school of Sharks. Some Snapper if you look closely are breaking the surface. What a shot.

14.01.2022 VTackle, One of the EAC's Interclub Masters Sponsors. Always something going on down at the store!

12.01.2022 The EAC was presented yesterday morning on the 21st November of the sad news of the passing of an old-time and well respected former member of the club. Without question would have the record for the most amount of Club Championships won I would say by anyone. Ray (Razza) Larcombe will be sadly missed by those who knew him and there will be a lot of members saddened but I'm sure will reflect with great fondness of one of the most popular clubs cleaver-witted larrikins the club has seen. RIP Razza! One of those legendary fishermen that made it look easy true and true. Gone but not forgotten.

12.01.2022 Fisheries have put in another 30 or so XL rainbow trout today into spavin lake !!! Good luck great effort by fisheries

10.01.2022 Aaron Habgood a good friend of the EAC explaining the benefits of those in the position of designing your own boat. Here's his new beast!

06.01.2022 Former EAC Club Member Mark (Osman) Farrer with a nice wild Trout on the fly I'm assuming still up the Mitta Mitta where he posted a shot from a couple of days ago. Still, the Mitta, or have you moved on. Nice looking water!

05.01.2022 Amazing news! This year’s scientific survey of the Gippsland Lakes has recorded the second highest abundance of baby black bream in the last 10 years. These sur...veys are undertaken annually by VFA scientists at 50 sites in the Gippsland Lakes system. Using specialised techniques, juvenile black bream less than one year old (typically under 10cm) are sampled to provide a snapshot of how successful the previous spawning season was. Spawning variation from year to year is normal and influenced by environmental factors such as river flows and waterway health, however the trend over the last 4 years is significantly better than the 6 years prior. Black bream take about 6 years to reach their minimum size of 28cm, which means this strong pulse of small bream will enter the fishery from 2026/27 BUT, you won’t have to wait that long! The strongest spawning event of the past 10 years occurred in 2017, which means they’ll be abundant and ready to catch in 2023/24! Want to have your say on the Gippsland Lakes Recreational Fishery Plan? It’s currently out for public consultation until 28 October! 04.01.2022 The EAC would like to congratulate Katherine Grech on her appointment which kicked off this morning as the new CEO of The BBV (Better Boating Victoria) Myself and a few others were informed last week but officially kicked off professionally this morning. She is fully aware of and all over the Ministers promise for our Maribyrnong River Boat Ramps 2021 completion and being the BBV's original Director during its inception having already a strong involvement and understanding of... the project we're in great hands. Congratulations Katherine and looking forward to a new look and BBV direction............ Pictured here with the heads and representatives of many of the relevant Piscatorial, Boating, and Political counterparts earlier this year at the EAC "Interclub Masters" Competition pre Award Ceremony. For all those who contacted me recently with concerns, Hang In There. Good things are on the horizon. See more

03.01.2022 The one-metre club or thereabouts. Allan Moore from the Greensborough Angling Club christening his new Bassco Cyclone boat went Crocodile fishing. Dangerous habit mate those things will eat ya. What a Frog (Dusty) Not his first either Allan's landed a few of these in his time. Well Done mate.

01.01.2022 Great to see a rush of moves regarding the Maribyrnong Boat Ramp in our meeting this morning. Since the State Treasurer announced in the Budget a couple of weeks ago the whopping $1.6M dedicated to this ramp only, gears have been moving and necessary areas to get this done and dusted are being worked on consecutively. Keep an eye out guys the wheels are turning and a destination is in sight. Original post below.
