23.01.2022 Congratulations to everyone involved in TFS member challenge! It was a fantastic to see so many teams from each club getting involved, supporting and encouraging each other and of course some healthy rivalry :) Of course a BIG Congratulations to our winning teams! For Weight loss team Pump and Grind (Katherine Hotston, Jonathan Hotston Janine Madsen, Joanne OHara) took this out with a total of 19.4kg lost!... And our points winners Rus Angels ( Simon Leslie, Luke De La Haye, Iain Turnbull, Ian Lilley) with 1129 points. Each team took home a prize pool of $1765!!!! Enjoy :) Well done everyone!

16.01.2022 Feeling Guilty Aint Helping You! So yesterday this happened.... We all had ice cream. And nope I dont regret it or feel bad about this choice. And neither sh...ould you. Yeah certainly, there are foods that are going to serve you and your health more efficiently than others. But having a poor relationship with food can be worse than the amount of calories, sugar or crap in the actual food itself. As youve probably heard, its about balance. Restricting yourself or saying no I cant have that at all has a higher rate of failure than allowing yourself a little. If a certain food fits into your week or day, then go for it, and dont look back. Heres a little tip. Remember the 80/20 % philosophy. If 80% of your week is full of nutritious foods, real foods and your exercising regularly then you can allow some foods that sit outside this. Life is meant to be enjoyed, and sometimes a sneaky treat or drink is part of that, and if youre doing everything else then you shouldnt need to worry. If youre not getting the results you want, take a look at your food, maybe youre only doing 60/40%. If youre after some kind of physical change, or you want to feel better, have more energy or move better, and youre not getting it from your current lifestyle/food habits then work on improving your ratio. So, stop feeling guilty, going for the all or nothing approach and work on developing a better relationship with food and allowing some balance so you can still get the results you what. *tag a friend who needs to read this ;)

14.01.2022 BOXING & HIIT TRAINING Boxing is a great way to do High Intensity Interval Training. Its certainly a fun way to exercise, relieves stress, HIIT Training also has some other great benefits. 1. Burns More Fat... HIIT training more energy in the same amount as doing lower intensity (endurance style training). The Spike/Rest or Sprint/recover style of training puts more stress on your system creating a higher energy expenditure. 2. Can more enjoyable. Obviously this depends on the individual, however having to continuously change the intensity rather than doing the same thing of ran hour can keep your mind more engaged and less likely to wander off thinking about other things. Plus its a great way to break up your week of upper/lower body weights and running/other cardio sessions. And when something is more enjoyable its more likely you will stick with it, and consistency is a massive part of getting great results! 3. Full Body Workout When you are using a proper boxing technique, meaning your stance, using your feet, hips and torso correctly, you use far ore calories and actually work your whole body much more effectively than if you just focused on using your arms. So next time your coach encourages you to use your hips or feet more, think of the added benefits! We have boxing all day today at Boot Camp, so be sure to get along!

05.01.2022 Do you often crave sweet things? Especially after dinner? Just one square BAM! The whole block is gone... ... Sound familiar? There could be a few reasons why youre causing your inner sugar devil to go crazy. 1) Youre dehydrated - your body can get confused between hunger and dehydration, so keep your fluids up. 2)Low on magnesium - your body craves sugars, especially chocolate when youre low so be sure to speak to a naturopath and see if youre getting enough. If youre raining regularly it wouldnt hurt to supplement with magnesium as it helps with recovery and muscle function. Avoid supermarket brands and stock from a practitioner who stock metagenics or similar. 3) Your maybe low on high fibre/cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, garden cress, bok choy, broccoli, brussels sprouts and similar green leafy vegetables. These foods help steady your blood sugar levels. As opposed to hi GI/starch veggies or simple sugars like lollies which will build insulin resistance, and throw your horns ones all over the place making it harder to manage hunger levels.
