24.01.2022 Mothers Day trade at Sydney Flower markets

24.01.2022 Our committee are looking to find a circular economy solution for disposal of plastic sleeves . Grower uses recyclable sleeve - florist buys bunches flowers - florist returns sleeves - sleeves are used to make buckets that growers use . Well keep you updated on the progress made by our polymer engineer building a case for such a solution . Where possible growers should also look for alternatives whether it be paper wrap or avoid using plastic . Go green , go sustainable . We appreciate any help from Sydney Markets given the team there have an excellent recycling program with over 80% achieved with organic material and an overall recycling achievement of 70% in conjunction with the great work from waste management contractors Veolia.

19.01.2022 Today we have the Xmas charity event for hospitals and a number of nursing homes here in Sydney Flower market run by the FGG of NSW committee . Here are a great group of florists & floristry students generously giving up their time to make up beautiful bouquets to spread cheer and joy to those that can do with a boost. Thanks to the growers and wholesalers in Sydney Flower Market that have kindly donated flowers and foliages plus Apac for the wrapping paper and Sydney Markets for their assistance .

19.01.2022 How good getting out 530 beautiful floral bouquets and mixed bunches to patients at hospitals and nursing homes across Sydney . 5 hospitals and 8 nursing homes these gifts leading into Christmas spreading much needed cheer and goodwill thanks to over 30 florists & floristry student volunteers and the kindness of most growers and wholesalers from Sydney markets donating thanks to the couriers who last minute volunteered making it all possible .

18.01.2022 This years turn out for the Xmas charity drive providing bouquets to Hospitals and Nursing home across Sydney was amazing . Roughly 60 florists , students and teachers . Some that drove from far away . Incredible help . Drivers helping including Sydney Nsw Aus Markets staff and The Flower Growers Group of NSW Inc. committee members . Industry leaders like John Grima. Generosity from growers and wholesalers like Bagala bros , T&G, Julio Nati , Wayne Inglis, Greg Bennett , the ...Leoncinos , Sam Scavo , Eastcoast, Daniel Muscat , ATM, S&P Dominello Dumont Rose garden , Mileto flowers and many more . Plus Walls Nursery for their stands and Apac yet again donating Sundries. A special mention to AWF/Flower HQ for providing literally 100s of bunches. Hospital recipients include Chris OBrien lighthouse , RPA, Concord , St George , Burwood Womens shelter and numerous nursing homes. 450+ bouquets to put a smile on many a face leading into Christmas . 12.01.2022 Opening times at the Sydney flower markets will be 4.30am this Monday for trade customers . Its possible suppliers to florists may chose to open later at 5am given that handling so much incoming stock and finishing orders may lead them to sticking to their regular time .

Over 30 volunteering florists and students are working their magic creating beautiful bouquets for hospitals and nursing homes around Sydney using flowers kindly donated by growers and wholesalers . Its great giving back to people that can do with a bit of cheering up going into Christmas . Receiving hospitals include RPA, Concord hospital, St Vincents Private , Auburn Hospital amd St George Hospital . Were also sending flowers to nursing homes around Sydney from Springwood to Bexley , Concord , Ryde and the Hills district . Spreading love is a wonderful thing

08.01.2022 Earlier this week The Flower Growers Group of NSW Inc. joined forces with a number of Florists at the Sydney Flower Market to create 168 floral centrepieces for... the 2019 OzHarvest CEO Cookoff! The event was attended by CEOs, business leaders, corporate teams and some of Australias top chefs collaborating together to create a gourmet dinner for more than 1,400 vulnerable Australians. A special shout out to all the Flower Growers who donated flowers and the Florists who took time out of their busy schedules to help with the floral arrangements.

05.01.2022 The Oz Harvest chefs cook off is on this Monday night and once again our industry has pulled together for a great cause . Oz cook off is annual event where celebrity chefs and volunteers cook meals for Sydneys vulnerable and needy citizens . The meals are served by Corporate CEOs. Organised by the FGG committee and thanks to generous donations from growers / traders we have an army of wonderful florists , teachers and students working their magic for a great cause . Over 170 table arrangements sticking to the yellow theme will be put together. Thank you @apack for donating sundries once again .
