25.01.2022 Well no crab for dinner. We caught about 20 crabs but all Jenny's or undersize. We caught this great big Jenny with no nippers. She is back swimming.

22.01.2022 So we went to our Fishing club meeting last night where I won "The most meritorious capture 2019/2020" award. Super excited!! Apparently my dolphin fish (Mahi mahi) at 135 cm long was also a club record.

21.01.2022 Super excited about this... we are entering the competition too.... everyone cross your fingers that the ocean is flat on this weekend for us.

21.01.2022 Gidday Good Alf'ers... unless you want to see some nice yakkas that Paul caught, there's not much to see out here today. It has flattened out and we've seen 5 whales so far.

21.01.2022 Here's your update on yesterday.... we worked out we did over 72 kilometres and came home with one small sweetlip and some nice yakka and a bonito to use as bait next time. We had a bit of excitement with a whale. We had seen it in the distance and it did a nice dive showing us it's tail. Next minute we spotted it heading right for us. Then it popped it's head up about 50 metres from us almost like it was saying "oh, there you are, I'll just go this way then" and off it went. I was too slow with the camera for that as we were trying like mad to get all our lines in so we could get out of it's way. We stayed out until the sun set and made it back in before dark. We had a great day out but the fish just weren't cooperating.

20.01.2022 Good morning.... it's the Good Alf's birthday on Saturday. We have to work and the forecast wasn't good anyway. So we are out here today... happy 4th birthday Good Alf

19.01.2022 Just a quick video of us cruising along...

19.01.2022 The early birds got hypothermia last time so we are heading out now. We stopped and got a few nice pike for livies. Wendy got 2 Maori cod but both were undersized so are back in to do a bit more growing up. We are trolling a couple of lures now out to the closest FAD which is 20 k's away. Stay tuned...

19.01.2022 Okay, so here's how our day went.... We were up at 3.30 am, picked David Powell up on the way. Got the boat in and went all the way up to Arkwright shoals (off Coolum). As soon as our baits hit the bottom we had fish on. We must have had at least 20 fish each in the boat. We were so busy pulling fish in that we didn't get many photos sorry. Most of the fish were just undersized. At one stage we thought we had a good fish on a yakka floating out the back but it was the biggest squid. It would have been easily over 50 cm long. We were on a mission to catch it and tried a few things but it ended up getting away from us. So at the end of the day we had 5 good keepers in the esky and are looking forward to having a nice feed of fresh fish.

19.01.2022 So we got up super early and went all the way out to Barwon Banks. That's 40 + kilometres. It was a bit lumpy on the way out as we were going into a slight swell but once we were out there it flattened out like glass. We tried a few spots and caught a few small red throat emperors and some leather jackets. We saw 3 lots of dolphins, a sea snake, a huge turtle right beside the boat and just a few mack tuna that we couldn't convince to get in the boat. We came home with just one keeper... we think it is called a pig fish.

19.01.2022 So my phone was almost flat so here's a "best of" our day. We had a great day with lots of fish in the boat. We ended up almost at Noosa, going to Sunshine reef. Today we had our neighbour Glen on board. Wendy caught the most fish, Paul caught the only keepers of the day and Glen had the best day ever due to his first ever boat trip where he didn't get sea sick.

12.01.2022 It's not every day that you have to get out of the way of a sea plane that's landing.

11.01.2022 Well we have a nice lot of yakkas and that's it. The Minn kota batteries decided to die on us about 10.30 am so we had to do drift fishing which we are not so keen on. It's pizza for dinner for us tonight.

09.01.2022 Good morning Adventurers.... we're back!! We've got a few in the esky already so will post some photos later...

08.01.2022 David showing us how to do it with a record fish

04.01.2022 Lets see if us early birds catch any fish.... wish us luck

03.01.2022 Okay, we are back and have had several nana naps to recover from our 3 am start. We caught heaps of fish most of them were just under size so they are back swimming with their mates. We came home with just 4 keepers, not whoppers but well and truly legal so it will be nice to have a couple of fish dinners. If it were a most species competition we would have won today. Species caught today were.... Tusk fish, snapper, sweetlip, moses pearch, maori cod, wire netting cod, those annoying little red rock cod, trigger fish, eel, black spinefoot, rainbow runner and a pearl perch.

01.01.2022 Paul thought he had a 67 cm fish on. He was wrong.... the moses perch was 30 cm and the cod was 37 cm.
