24.01.2022 This week I decided to hit the road and head bush. I was heading to a place where we have stopped many many times before, so I thought it was about time to boo...k in a review and share the story. After a few hours on the road we lobbed in the Wide Bay town of Goomeri. Goonmeri is only small but bustling with locals and travelers. In the centre of town is The Goomeri Bakery. Owners Jo and Miranda Prendergast have a real love affair with this town. They currently own 3 businesses in the area employing over 50 odd staff. Joe's Grand Hotel, Dusty Hill Vineyard and the Goomeri Bakery. All three are 100% worth a visit but I was here for one thing and one thing only glorious ’s. Unfortunately the owners weren’t available at the time of my visit but I was introduced to head chef Bri. Bri has been working for the family for about 9 years, but mostly over at the pub. So when the bakery opened 3 years ago Bri was asked if she wanted to start baking and this little legend jumped at the opportunity. After drooling at everything this shop has to offer, it was time to start smashing ’s This weeks of choice was a simple one. I’m a sucker for lamb particularly 14 hour slow cooked lamb. Add in rosemary and red onion and you had me at Hello !!! The color of this looked off the chats and I couldn’t wait to tuck in. THE REVIEW 1. Value for Money - At $8 yes it’s a little pricey, but the ingredients were of the highest quality. The was big enough but at the $8 price tag it would wanna be. Overall not bad. Could be slightly bigger at that price. 6.5/10 2. Meat Ratio - When you pay $8 for a you would expect it to be completely full !!! And yes it was !!!! Totally loaded up. 10/10 3. Meat Flavour - OUTSTANDING !!!! The 14 hour slow cooked Lamb melted in your mouth. The rosemary flavor was out of this world, while the red onion just added the cream on top so to speak. So so good !! 10/10 4. Pastry - Don’t be fooled by the darkish color in the pastry, it was divine. The base was perfect while the top was incredibly flakey. The whole pastry was full of flavor. 9/10 5. Temperature - Once again the temp was spot on. 10/10 Overall Rating 45.5//50 Apart from the price tag, this was a perfect . The was full to the brim, the flavor & temp were a perfect score and the pastry was terrific. I really liked this and would not hesitate at grabbing another one on my way through again. For all you traditionalists out there your going to be disappointed. This isn’t your traditional bakery. The moment you walk through the door you might be mistaken to think you’re ordering something from the Du Pain et des idees. The flour used in this bakery is imported from Paris, plus prior to opening 3 years ago several staff spent time in Paris bakeries learning their craft. The whole building inside and out has been polished with absolute class which makes a stop here a absolute must. i guarantee ’s won’t be the only product you buy. The selection of breads and pasties are ridiculous and taste ridiculous. Plus this place has heaps of seating inside and out so take your time, sit back and relax. I need to send out a huge shout to head chef Bri and the girls for there hospitality. I literally called the bakery 24 hours before the review and Bri was extremely accommodating and was more than happy to spend time and share the story of this bakeries history. Head Chef Bri has come a long way since her days pouring beers in the pub. With no baking experience but a passion for cooking all of her of her creations are made from scratch with some of the ingredients grown on the premises. Goomeri is a cracking town and famously known for the annual Pumpkin festival. It’s a pretty town filled with shops, cafes and heritage listed buildings. If you haven’t been out this way, start making travel plans and get amongst it. These little country communities rely of the tourist dollars and the traveling grey nomads. With Xmas only 5 days away this will be my last posted review for the year. We will be away camping, drinking and water skiing with our dam family at Boomdooma.
