24.01.2022 Enjoying my Sunday afternoon footy before a massive week starts. I have a shed to paint, a deck to paint and a bathroom to put together from scratch. So dry walling, waterproofing, tiling and even repositioning a window. If you need someone to do any of these types of jobs or anything at all really then The Handy Chick is here for you
23.01.2022 Need something as simple as a gate to keep the dogs or the littlies in? Than give The Handy Chick a call and get a girl do it
23.01.2022 Wow. I have woken up this morning to 107 likes in the first day. I am very overwhelmed by the support and belief i have. So many have shared the page and i already have some people asking about jobs. I just want to say a great big thank you. Since i verbalized this idea it has been pointed out that there are people in our community who may feel more comfortable with a female coming into their homes. Because of not feeling comfortable the little jobs they need doing are gettin...g neglected. I am offering an alternative to the norm. So why not give a woman a try. It is my promise to be respectful, reliable, honest and trustworthy while doing the best work i possibly can. So come on and give me a call. I am ready and waiting. Let's get stuff done. The Handy Chick.

19.01.2022 So my Dad who just turned 90 earlier this year has been a bricklayer all his life. And from what i have heard a bloody good one. He was sought after for his artistic fireplaces that he made. At 74 he had a heart attack and the first thing he askes the nurse was when can he get back to work. Tough as nails old bastard he is and I love him. . So when I had the opportunity to be given some of his old work tools still covered in cement i jumped at it. They will sit pride os place in The Handy Chicks Garage
18.01.2022 Very happy with progress on day 2. Started tiling the kitchen backsplash too.
18.01.2022 What a beautiful winter day it was yesterday. Had fun in the outdoors getting rid of the iod putty and putting in new putty for these gorgeous old windows. Can't wait to see how they look when they are painted. Only 10 more to go

13.01.2022 Back for a couple of hours on the bathroom today. I finally started putting tiles on the walls
11.01.2022 I have a found a real passion for helping people out with odd jobs and maintenance of their homes. It seems there are alot of people out there, women escpecially who have unfortunately lost the faith and trust in tradesman. They are being taken advantage of and over quoted and thats if the person turns up in the first place. This is something here at The Handy Chick that i pride myself on. Not only will I turn up but I will do a great job at a great price. So come on and give a woman a chance.
10.01.2022 Another busy week coming up for The Handy Chick. Finally finishing the bathroom. Then a complete Granny Flat revamp including new floors, painting and some touch ups
09.01.2022 Looks like my business cards arrived today. Don't forget to give me a buzz if you need anything done
08.01.2022 So all is going well with the bathroom. Waterproofing done. Gaps filled. Just about ready for tiling.
05.01.2022 So it seems I was a little over enthusiastic with the idea of helping people who seem to be either sick of being taken advantage of or bot feeling completely comfortable with male tradies. There is definitely a need for women doing handy work especially those smaller jobs that tradies just won't touch. I was completely taken by surprise with how quick the work rolled in and it took on a life of its own which was fantastic. Unfortunately it has left me with no time for myself ...or my family. I have been working The Handy Chick and doing jobs on every day off from my shift work job and I was booked up until late August. Because of this I had no down time to rest and recuperate from night shifts etc so as you wouod expect it finally took its toll. I believe wholeheartedly in this business but for me it is not viable for me to continue. I felt really bad about this but than realised that at 47 I have to do what is righr for me. I do not need nor do I want to create stress in my life. I understand it was just a case of bad timing. So i am letting everybody know that I will no longer be working as The Handy Chick. But it was great while it lasted. Thank you so much for believing in me and keeping me busy See more
05.01.2022 So i was watching The Project last night and saw a story about a group of tradie women called the Tradettes. They are all plumbers and all female. It seems they have been coping a bit of a hiding on social media by what I would call a group of inadequate men who cannot deal with the fact that there are women out there in the trades possibly doing a better job then them. I find this quite distressing to know that there are still people out therw who think that women still belo...ng behind a kitchen sink. The irony there is that these particular women won't just be behind the sink they will be under it too. After i listened to the spokeswoman i became quite inspired by what is a very dedicated and talented group of tradies out therw doing their job to the best of their ability and giving the tradie world that touch that only a woman can give. So if you live in Qld and you need a plumber don't forget that a woman can do it too. Give them a go you may be surprised. I have worked in male dominated workplaces for 30 years, since i was 17 and what i have found is that most men are more than happy to share centre stage with a woman. They don't feel threatened and they don't feel it's not oir place and they don't feel uncomfortable. But there are always the few that want to stick you in a box. As a woman in this arena it often feels like you have to try harder than your male counter parts but what i say to this is just be yourself and do what you love and be strong and never let anyone tell you that you shouldn't be here because its our world now and the men need to step aside and let us through or we will simply walk over the top of them. Women tradies rock #womentradies
05.01.2022 And I can build you a BBQ or a wall or a garden bed
01.01.2022 Cause there is always time for fun and games A blonde teenager, wanting to earn some extra money for the summer, decided to hire herself out as a "handy-woman" She started canvassing a nearby well-to-do neighborhood. She went to the front door of the first house, and asked the owner if he had any odd jobs for her to do.... "Well, I guess I could use somebody to paint my porch," he said, "How much will you charge me?" Delighted, the girl quickly responded, "How about $50?" The man agreed and told her that the paint brushes and everything she would need was in the garage. The man's wife, hearing the conversation said to her husband, "Does she realize that our porch goes ALL the way around the house?" He responded, "That's a bit cynical, isn't it?" The wife replied, "You're right. I guess I'm starting to believe all those dumb blonde jokes we've been getting by email lately." Later that day, the blonde teenager came to the door to collect her money. "You're finished already?" the startled husband asked. "Yes, she replied, and I even had paint left over, so I gave it two coats." Impressed, the man reached into his pocket for the $50.00 and handed it to her along with a $10.00 tip. And, by the way," the teenager added, "it's not a Porch, it's a Lexus."
