25.01.2022 Dating back to 1866, this little-known graveyard in Corindas protected under the Queensland Heritage Register, including under Criterion E: "The hilltop setting of Francis Outlook with its panoramic views of Brisbane and as an example of a well considered timber framed lychgate, Francis Outlook is important because of its aesthetic significance." Kudos to the neighbours, for standing up in protection of heritage values!

25.01.2022 "We do not know what pain he had We never saw him die, We only know he passed away And were not there to say goodbye."... So reads the headstone of my G-G-Grandfather, who passed away in Mackay Hospital from the "Spanish Flu" on the 9th July, 1919 - whilst the rest of his family lay seriously ill under quarantine in their house, 40km to the west in Mirani. Please follow the official advice, socially distance & keep yourselves safe.

24.01.2022 The date for our next Tragic Tales of Toowong Tour has now been confirmed, after some wrangling with Brisbane City Council, for Thursday 8th October. If youve never visited this beautiful cemetery after dark, or joined us last year but are keen for a completely new suite of stories, wed love to welcome you along!

24.01.2022 From this morning, new restrictions are now in place regarding social gatherings in Brisbane. Were monitoring the situation very closely this weekend to see how it develops, and will make a decision at the start of next week regarding our upcoming tours at South Brisbane & Toowong Cemeteries. Please get in touch if you have any queries.

22.01.2022 Just in case you missed it on Christmas Eve, a great exposé went up over on The Lost Boys page, surrounding the debated location of the earthly remains of roughly 2,000 Wolston Park patients, & the tract of unassuming bushland at Wacol beneath which they're still likely buried - completely unacknowledged, & all but forgotten.

21.01.2022 On the eve of The Haunts of Brisbanes first South Brisbane Cemetery Tour for 2020, we have 4 tickets still available for tomorrow nights tour. If your Friday night is free & youre looking for something a little different to do with your night, wed love to have you along - please let us know?

21.01.2022 The lengthy trip southwest across the Queensland border, & on through central New South Wales to the Pilliga Scrub, continues...whilst the plan aims to arrive before sunset, maybe a little night driving along the Newell Highway mightnt ultimately be so bad a thing!?

21.01.2022 Not long to go now until our first Tragic Tales of Toowong Tour, in what seems like a lifetime (back in early March) - for those wholl be joining us tonight, make sure to rug up, & were super excited to be having you along for a walk amongst the headstones!

20.01.2022 With Halloween behind us, there's still a couple of spots available on this week's "Tragic Tales of Toowong Cemetery" tour - if you haven't come along already this year, this will likely be the 2nd last for 2020 before the route changes in 2021 - & only $15, *all* donated straight to cemetery projects :)

20.01.2022 After arriving back into Brisbane after 11pm last night, Im pleased to say we all survived the 2020 Pilliga Expedition! A huge shout-out to both Craig & Nicky of Team WSPR for coordinating this incredible adventure, & I can now definitively say (without question) that "theres something in the Pilliga!"

19.01.2022 On the back end of a few quiet weeks spent planning & researching, The Haunts of Brisbanes "Tragic Tales of Toowong Tour" is now only a couple of sleeps away for everyone who managed to snaffle a ticket! With an entirely different suite of stories to 2019, heres hoping 2020s Toowong Cemetery tours receive an ongoing BCC green light - wed love to have you along!!

19.01.2022 For those who've attended one of our "Tragic Tales of Toowong" tours in the past, & were keenly waiting for this year's new tour route & stories, or for those who were hoping to join us for your first journey amongst the headstones in 2021 (after a pretty uncertain tour schedule through 2020), we have some very sad news to share... Despite having run this tour once a month for the past 2 years, with the iron-clad promise that the unique route through the cemetery, & suite of ...painstakingly researched & historically accurate stories, would change each & every year (2019, 2020 & now 2021) - to encourage tour patrons to return & learn more about Brisbane's early history - it now seems as if this venture has been cruelly cruelly cut short...despite *every cent* of revenue from these tours having been funnelled directly into cemetery history & maintenance projects, & an incredible number of people from far & wide who've attended over the previous 24 months. In the past week, a Brisbane City Council staffer has advised the Friends of South Brisbane Cemetery (an amazing volunteer community group beneath whom the monthly Haunts of Brisbane tours at Toowong Cemetery would not be possible), that "local residents" feel there are already ample tours available at Toowong Cemetery - specifically, those tours run by a commercial "Ghost Tour" operator - &, as such, further not-for-profit tours at Toowong Cemetery under either the Friends of South Brisbane Cemetery or Haunts of Brisbane banner will no longer be permitted by Council. To say that we are both gutted & currently confounded at this knee-jerk decision is an understatement. Council funding & upkeep for our historical cemeteries across Brisbane is drawn from the wider financial pool, & as such these cemeteries belong to the whole of Brisbane - these sites do not belong exclusively to one Council ward, should never be traded out for commercial gain under a monopoly, & nor should our incredibly vibrant & important history (& the stories of those who've lived, loved & lost across Brisbane) be "buried" & silenced once again in favour of a gimmick - rest assured, we'll be lobbying this decision over coming weeks to regain access to Toowong Cemetery.

18.01.2022 A very exciting new history journal is taking shape, for launch in late 2020! To any & all cemetery historians & researchers, submissions are now open for articles to feature in the first edition of the Queensland Cemetery History Journal - links attached below :)

18.01.2022 Good news - this Friday nights Haunts of Brisbane tour through South Brisbane Cemetery will be going ahead, in adherence with our ongoing COVID-safe plan. 17.01.2022 If you caught last night's episode of The Lost Boys on Bay FM 100.3, & are champing at the bit to actually see what lies beneath The Wickham in Fortitude Valley, then here's your chance: first-time-ever footage from within the Hotel's 135 year old basement! **Spoiler** Also contains an amazing 1850's Brisbane poltergeist story

17.01.2022 Its definitely been a week, with everything thats transpiring both locally & internationally - we hope youre all safe & remaining well, despite the circumstances? Despite all of the changes that seemingly roll in daily, including the cessation of The Haunts of Brisbane tours at both Toowong & South Brisbane Cemeteries for the foreseeable future, were currently working on some new, exciting content to mull over whilst were all on home detention. Please stay safe, stay at home where & when necessary, & stay resilient whilst we prepare some content to help distract from COVID-19.

17.01.2022 About to head back to the mainland after a morning volunteering with Ocean Crusaders, removing rubbish from the northeast corner of St Helena Island - always amazing having an opportunity to visit, even if but for a few hours.

17.01.2022 A heartfelt thank you to all who joined us on Thursday night for this month's Tragic Tales of Toowong Tour at Toowong Cemetery - we hope you all enjoyed our venture between the headstones, recounting the forgotten tales of early Brisbane :)

15.01.2022 Coming up next Wednesday night at 9pm on Bay FM 100.3 (or via stream at www.bayfm.org.au), the age-old question of whether secret subterranean tunnels exist beneath The Wickham will finally be answered, amongst many other paranormal oddities - make sure to share widely, & tune in!

14.01.2022 If you caught last nights episode of The Lost Boys on Bay FM 100.3, & are champing at the bit to actually see what lies beneath The Wickham in Fortitude Valley, then heres your chance: first-time-ever footage from within the Hotels 135 year old basement! **Spoiler** Also contains an amazing 1850s Brisbane poltergeist story

14.01.2022 On the back end of The Lost Boys first episode on Bay FM 100.3 Wednesday night past, the below video adds some great additional content & predominantly documents our exploration of the amazing forgotten c.1890 tunnel that snakes well below the streets of South Brisbane for over a kilometre - please give it a watch!

14.01.2022 On the back end of last weeks trip deep into the Pilliga Scrub, Mia & Kristy (two of the brave adventurers who were also there in the thick of it) will be hosting a facebook live stream tonight to discuss their personal take on the 4-day expedition - if youre free at 6:30pm, jump onto their page below for a watch & listen :)

11.01.2022 A massive thanks to everyone who joined us on Thursday nights "Tragic Tales of Toowong Cemetery" tour - our first for 2020, showcasing completely new stories from our 2019 tours. Whilst Council clearance for our future 2020 tour dates at Toowong remain pending, wed love to gauge your support for an April tour date in the comments below!

11.01.2022 That highly embarrassing moment you not only get an easily verified historical date incorrect, but also go on to repeatedly misspell a persons name...despite it being clearly printed on the headstone youve allegedly just "restored" & widely plugged on social media, as a draw card for your "extensively researched" South Brisbane Cemetery tour! Please always be discerning when sourcing your next fix of Brisbane history...

11.01.2022 A massive thankyou to everyone who joined us on last Thursday night's "Tragic Tales of Toowong" tour - despite a few last-minute cancellations, we relished guiding you all through the cemetery, as the smaller group allowed more time to answer your questions & showcase this amazing location :D

08.01.2022 For anyone whos booked on tonights Tragic Tales of Toowong Tour & hasnt checked their inboxes in the past few days, weve had to very regrettably postpone tonights walk due to unexpected surgery - please check your emails for rescheduling information (if you havent already), or direct message for further details

Stay tuned to find out very shortly!
