Virginia and I spent the morning at the river drinking tea, talking to seagulls and dancing up the elements of our new course offering "Emerging" that starts next week. Looking forward to stepping into the light and exploring gracefully the knowledge and wisdom that lies in our bodies, waiting to be moved.... https://facebook.com/events/s/emerging/249136469496209/?ti=cl #dancemovementtherapy #emerging #dance #danceinnature #somatictherapy

21.01.2022 It has been such a surprising time for me being in isolation. I was surprised most of all at how busy I am and how hard it was to slow down. I want to keep the pace of my life easier and spend more time with my family. I have spoken to many of my friends who have also gained a lot of insight during this period and it inspired me to offer this opportunity to actualise the changes learned through this time. To embody these experiences to make them a part of life- with more sati...sfaction, ease and nourishment. It might be getting clearer about what you want in your life, about your focus and direction. It might be how you spend your time, getting more chance to be creative for instance. I might be to be more confident and not get involved in your negative self identities. Whatever it might be, this is a chance to explore, clarify and integrate these changes into your life. In the new moon waxing an opportunity to emerge consciously and strongly into the way you want to live your life. This is a retreat-like space online. Introducing and exploring the experience in the afternoon of the 23 May, and completing your vision and integration on the morning of Sunday 24 May. More details are here at the event, and you can contact me on [email protected] if you want more information. See more

15.01.2022 In today's class we shared Donna Martin's poem...as we tuned in to the power of our own breath THE BREATH IS LIFE'S TEACHER Observe me, says the Breath, and learn to live effortlessly in the Present Moment. ... Feel me, says the Breath, and feel the Ebb and Flow of Life. Allow me, says the Breath, and I’ll sustain and nourish you, filling you with energy and cleansing you of tension and fatigue. Move with me, says the Breath, and I’ll invite your soul to dance. Make sounds with me and I shall teach your soul to sing. Follow me, says the Breath, and I’ll lead you out to the farthest reaches of the Universe, and inward to the deepest parts of your inner world. Notice, says the Breath, that I am as valuable to you coming or going that every part of my cycle is as necessary as another that after I’m released, I return again and again that even after a long pause moments when nothing seems to happen eventually I am there. Each time I come, says the Breath, I am a gift from Life. And yet you release me without regret without suffering without fear. Notice how you take me in, invites the Breath. Is it with joy with gratitude? Do you take me in fully invite me into all the inner spaces of your home? Or carefully into just inside the door? What places in you am I not allowed to nourish? And notice, says the Breath, how you release me. Do you hold me prisoner in closed up places in the body? Is my release resisted do you let me go reluctantly, or easily? And are my waves of Breath, of Life, as gentle as a quiet sea, softly smoothing sandy stretches of yourself.? Or anxious, urgent, choppy waves? Or the crashing tumult of a stormy sea? And can you feel me as the link between your inner and outer worlds feel me as Life’s exchange between the Universe and You? The Universe breathes me into You You send me back to the Universe. I am the flow of life between every single part and the Whole. #breath #breathe #dancetherapy #movement #danceismedicine #therapy #healing #artofdance

11.01.2022 hmmm when I'm in my body and loving it life flows with ease- when I struggle with my body pain is more intense and joy out of reach when I step out of my mind into the present moment I take better care of myself ... I am dealing with what is here vs what I am imagining and therefore keep repeating the same ways of being in my body..... When I am present in my body I can find the pleasure, enjoy whatever delights my sensations offer I can lift into the fullness of life and out of anticipation of something uncomfortable light and dark ease and struggle joy and pain I can reach all of these...not just my mind stories about my body There is relaxation and there is pleasure in being present and feeling resilient ... THere are still some places left in my sessions on Tuesdays in Mullumbimby where we will explore how to get more out of being in a body I am making this an open group where you can join any time. And offering 2 free places for this Tuesday if you want to try it out and see if it is for you :) Check out the event page and contact me if you want to join us. https://www.facebook.com/events/1242593066102976/

06.01.2022 How do you want to grow out of this experience of isolation? There are so many things I want to bring with me that I want to improve my relationships, my health..., my approach to life. Even though I have been busy I have had the opportunity to really look at how I think, and how I make decisions. I have found opportunities to enjoy quiet and stillness. I want to bring that into my life. Taking time to feel into the changes you want to create, embody the sensation of those changes, and clarify the steps, the how you will make those changes, with kindness and self-compassion, is the aim of my at home, on-line retreat this Saturday 23 May. 05.01.2022 The mind is like the wind, and the body is like the sand; if you want to know how the wind is blowing, you can look at the sand (Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, 2009) We have a few spots left for the upcoming Emerging course so if you were thinking about it now is the time to act.

02.01.2022 "I have loved dance since I can remember. I started with ballet and did any kind of dance available whenever possible. And I think it is genetic because my great grandfather is reported to have danced on the bar of the local pub and my grandmother (his daughter) would dance to anything! I love the feeling of moving through space, the feeling music gives me, and there is a feeling of spirit I can't describe that is so uplifting and freeing. I discovered 'dance-movement therapy...' at 19 when I was trying to find an alternative to psychology ( I was studying at the time). It was wonderful to explore how dance could make me 'feel' and that it could be a way to explore feelings and my experience of my body. Since then I have trained as a dance instructor and as a somatic psychotherapist to better understand the effect of dance on our psyche. I have a passion and vision to support people to know this experience in their body and mind. To find the freedom of dancing from your soul, and accessing the wisdom that is held in our body. I have supported many people to undo the knots of the past and step into a more comfortable and free way of being their true self in the world, and love to offer experiences to support this."
