Body Positive Bootcamp is back in 2021, our first session of the year was this morning and the girls gave it 100%! There are now 5 & 10 session passes available so you can book and plan in advance with ease. ... 5 x sessions is $50. 10 x sessions is $90 (you get 10% off with this option) Body Positive Bootcamp is all about exercising to improve your fitness, your strength and your health and has nothing to do with intentionally trying to change the way your body looks. Thats right, there is no focus on weight loss!! It is purely a celebration of what your body can do, and girl, you are capable of amazing things! 16.01.2022 In a world of online trainers and fitness apps, you might be wondering...why would I need a PT in the gym? Well let me tell you, there are soooo many reasons! First and most importantly, a personal training session is all about YOU! It is designed around your capabilities and limitations, your injuries, your fitness level and your goals! It’s not a generic plan! Secondly, and equally as important, EDUCATION. We educate you on how to perform an exercise correctly, we watch yo...u do it, we correct you and cue you throughout the movement. The gym can be a daunting place if you have no idea what you’re doing or you are trying to copy a girl on your phone screen without really knowing what you’re doing! Thirdly, support, encouragement and motivation. Sometimes we all need a personal cheer leader and I’m definitely your girl! My clients range from beginners to more experienced gym goers and they all have admitted to me they work harder in the gym when they are with me! Even if I am telling them to slow down!! It’s also comforting to have someone to talk to about your struggles or to ask any burning questions you have and get an answer right away! Fourthly, training with purpose! Going to the gym and having a plan is so important! It saves you spending too long in the gym and trying to think of things to do! Also having a well balanced program so that you don’t develop imbalances. As much as it’s the in thing to have a booty these days, you can’t neglect the rest of your body! As we age we lose bone density and strength training and having a balanced program becomes more important then ever! Lastly, community! This may not be true for all PT’s but for me it’s not only important, it’s essential! Over time I develop a connection with all of my clients, they feel comfortable with me and trust me. They not only train with me in the gym, they come to bootcamp (and vice versa). By me supporting them, they also support me! 08.01.2022 Being confident and comfortable within your skin has nothing to do with how you look on the outside, but everything to do with how you feel within. As someone that once thought losing weight would solve all my problems, I can firmly tell you it didn’t. Pursuing weight loss only made me focus on my physical appearance more, develop disordered eating habits and overall fostered a negative body image. No matter how small I got, it was never enough. FUN FACT: Health Professionals... are actually more likely to develop disordered eating habits and body dysmorphia. The pursuit of weight loss/improving body composition has become so normalised in our culture that most will never realise that what they are doing isn’t normal behaviour (myself included). Most of my clients come to me with weight loss goals, and it’s up to me to encourage them not to focus on numbers, but focus on how they feel and the healthful behaviours they are implementing instead. Because despite what the media would have you believe, you can be healthy at any size, and our health is the most valuable thing we have in this life. Once you are gone, no one will be at your funeral saying, oh remember how thin she was, oh remember how big and perky her arse was. They will be saying remember how kind she was remember how funny she was remember all the good she did in this world remember how much love she gave to others. Don’t lose sight of what is important in this life, implement healthy behaviours because you want to take care of the ONE body you have. Stop letting a number on the scale, or a number on your clothing dictate how you live your life. 08.01.2022 During my consultations, one of my questions is for my client to describe their relationship with the scales. As their personal trainer and coach, it is important for me to understand their history so I know what to expect along our journey together. Some are more scales focussed then others, which usually stems from a desire to get to a certain number on the scale where they were once happy within themselves. The key thing I point out during this conversation is that reachin...g a certain number on the scales isn’t what makes you happy. It’s the process! It’s making healthy choices, it’s being active, it’s having more energy, it’s growing your confidence, it’s being in a better mood and it’s being able to give more to your loved ones. 03.01.2022 I love being the influence to my girls that I wish I’d had at the start of my fitness journey. I love watching their relationship to exercise and their bodies improve and flourish over time. My girls learn to exercise for all the right reasons, NOT to intentionally change their bodies. Focusing on how exercise makes you feel and what it is doing for your mental and physical health is the only way you can make regular exercise an enjoyable part of your life, not a chore (as Sam put it).
