25.01.2022 On a wintery cold day in Tasmania I decided a walk to the river was not an option. So instead I harvested 180gm fresh Golden Seal which I need now due to inco...rporation into my Viral Immune tonic and a Throat spray that I make. These examples are 5 - 6 yers old. The last photo is of blood root. I have been growing this for 5 years now and it is very plump and healthy. To my surprise it grows very well, under the right conditions and you can see I have accidently cut it in half. These herbs are so precious, a true Herbalists delight, sometimes I find it astounding they are here with me in my garden. See more

Dr. Nicole Apelian even credits them in helping her manage her condition . Think about it Theyre safe, and essentially free. Heres how to use them: https://www.book-of-herbal-remedies.com/int/

11.01.2022 Such a huge interest in this lovely native plant and so many people are asking question after question. Perhaps thie information below will assist. Tasmanian Pepperberry. Tasmannia lanceolata (T. lanceolate) Medicinally the leaves are used and the berry, which is now gaining popularity for its warming and anti-oxidant value. The warmth from the berry comes from the constituent Wintergreen. FAMILY: Winteraceae The berries, leaves and bark have traditional use as a medicina...l plant. The following information is from: http://www.vitalityandwellness.com.au//tasmanian-pepperber Tasmannia lanceolata was used as flavouring agent by Australian Aborigines and more recently by European settlers. Traditionally, the leaves have been used as a herb and the berries have been used as a spice. Australian Aborigines also used Tasmannia lanceolata as a therapeutic agent to treat stomach disorders and as an emetic, as well as general usage as a tonic. Reports also exist of the use of Tasmannia lanceolata by Australian Aborigines for the treatment and cure of skin disorders, venereal diseases, colic, and stomach disorders. European colonists also recognized the therapeutic potential of Tasmannia lanceolata and the bark was used as a common substitute for other herbal remedies and to treat scurvy due to its high anti-oxidant content. interest in the therapeutic uses of Tasmannia lanceolate is its antimicrobial properties. Tasmannia lanceolate extracts have been shown broad-spectrum antibacterial and antifungal activity. Polygodial is the active component in Tasmannia lanceolata. Studies have reported the therapeutic properties of polygodial, including its anti-bacterial, antifungal, anti-hyperalgesia, anti-inflammatory, antiallergic and vaso-relaxation activities. Several studies have also reported protozoal growth inhibitory activity for polygodial. Studies have also reported the induction of significant intracellular structural changes including mitochondrial swelling, loss of microtubule organization and membrane damage following exposure to polygodial. 04.01.2022 From the archive.... IN CENTRAL EUROPA DURING THE COPPER AGE, 5,300 YEARS AGO, PEOPLE HAD SURPRISINGLY SOPHISTICATED KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE FABRIC OF THE HUMAN BOD...Y AND HOW TO TREAT ILLNESSES, STUDY CONCLUDES AFTER RE-ASSESSING TZI, THE TYROLEAN ICEMAN The study also says that Icemans society appears to be more complex than thought having reached this level of medical knowledge, practice and organization. Possible evidence for care and treatment in the Tyrolean Iceman. Zink A. et al. https://www.sciencedirect.com//arti/pii/S1879981718300883 The 61 tattoos on the mummified body of the Iceman were already believed to be administered as a kind of treatment for his lower back pain and degenerative joint disease of his knees, hip and wrist. In other studies, the tattoos of the Iceman have been related to an early form of acupuncture. Re-evaluating the various health issues of the Iceman, including joint diseases, gastrointestinal problems and arterial calcifications, comparing them to the location and number of tattoos; the finding of medically effective fungi and plants, such as the birch polypore or fern in his equipment and intestines, the scientists think that there was already a broad understanding of the use of different forms of therapy and the efficacy of herbal remedies during the Icemans time, the Copper Age. The tattoos, consisting of groups of short black, paralel lines, discovered only in 2015, were created by making small incisions in the skin which were then rubbed in with charcoal. tzi is the oldes tatooed human mummy found. The scientists also said: considering that the tattooist did put considerable efforts into applying the tattoos on the body possible to relieve pain - and provided care for the Iceman, has implications for our understanding of the Icemans society. Developing acupuncture through a trial and error system, learning and practicing therapeutic skills, suggests that other forms of medicinal treatment (plant, fungi, etc.) were known and practiced. The complex organization of the Icemans society is further supported by the sophisticated technologies used in the manufacture of tools and the intentional design elements in the selection of materials for clothes. The Icemummy was nicknamed tzi, because of the name of the valley where he was found in 1991, at the South-Tyrolean/Italian side of the border with Austria, frozen in the ice, at 3.200 m elevation. Since the discovery the 46 years old man was examined multple times. Only in 2001 is was discovered he probably died after having been shot with an arrow which hit his left shoulder, rupturing a major bloodvessel, leading to tzi bleeding to death within minutes. https://www.nytimes.com//bolzano-italy-iceman-south-tyrol- In 2012, genetic data suggested that tzi had brown eyes and type-O blood, and was lactose intolerant, although agrarian ways of life and subsistence was known in Europe in tzis time since more than 2,000 years, read: https://www.nature.com//iceman-s-dna-reveals-health-risks- In 2018 a study reconstructed tzis last meal, https://www.cell.com/current-biology//S0960-9822(18)30703-6 The Icemans copper axe is remarkable, as copper metallurgy was only recently known in Europe, introduced from the Middle-East. The tool, of which the copper was made came from Central Italy, and would have been very valuable and a status symbol. It remains a mystery why the people who killed tzi didnt take the axe. Beside the axe, tzi had a flint dagger and a longbow in the making, made of yew, and arrows. In 2013 geneticists found that 19 Tyrolean men alive today were related to tzi, read: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-24477038 The mummy is preserved in a cold storage chamber at the South-Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano, Italy, since 1998.
