25.01.2022 WHAT A GREAT RESULT. Thankyou to all the AWESOME "Hills IGA"customers that supported our instore raffle this week. Between the raffle and and our donation of $1 for every internationally acclaimed coffee sold we have managed to raise $2000 All money raised will go towards helping those families facing their own personal cancer battle. Big thankyou to little Liam who kindly offered to draw out the winning ticket this morning. I dont know whether he was more excited about receiving his very own limited edition Dan Rigney IGA hat or the fact he actually drew out his own name, winning the esky and a Merlo hamper for Mum and Dad. This is not something that is easily achieved in our retail network. So a big shout out to our awesome team that Im sure you all know. 01.01.2022 Loss of another true gentleman and friend. Michael " one of our famous old boys" pictured here first on the left passed away on Monday morning. His family were fortunate enough to spend time with him and say their goodbyes on Sunday. He was 88 years old. We knew he loved his family We knew he loved a cold beer We knew he loved a punt (and he often gave me some good tips that paid $$$)... We knew he was a drummer in his day often playing at Cloudland in Brisbane. For 25 years Michael fronted up, here at The Hills IGA at 6am every morning along with his good mates Earl, Don and Bob. The four of them would spend 30 minutes or so solving the political and social ills of the world right here in our store. I dont think you can quantify just how many lives these 4 gentleman have touched over the past 25 years, simply by being the constant fixtures that they have been. A simple smile, a wave or a quick chat to all those that have passed through our doors every morning found them well known, liked and respected in our community, and beyond.
