25.01.2022 ? It is such a widely used word but to me it means the body getting rid of the rubbish that is holding it back .... The problem is our lifestyles and environment also continuously adds a toxic burden and depending on our state of health is how well our body can rid ourselves from that garbage build up We know our liver is one of the main organs of elimination but our kidneys, lung and skin are also playing a role here. Hence why we get breakouts, rashes, and skin ailments Its our bodies way of trying to take out the garbage. . This might be as simple as cleaning up our diet and including more organic vegetables and fruits, even just increasing the amount we eat will increase the fibre and like a big bottle brush clean out the digestive tract. Now for some that is too quick and we need to begin slower by taking the burden off the digestion as a such. I remember my first detox diet (and no I never did the lemon juice and salt diet) I just increased my fibre, reduced the toxins and included some delicious elixirs daily and after the first few days I began to have so much energy and felt amazing. ? / #detox #cleaneating #healthy #naturopath

Much of the processed food that people eat today is devoid of a large portion of the nutrients that come in natural foods.... Many of these nutrients are found in delicious fruits and vegetables that can be blended in imaginative ways to create delicious dishes that you can enjoy for years to come. The primary reason you will want to eat this bowl, is because its a massive ultra-punch of antioxidants. As mentioned before, they help keep the skin healthy. They also fight off free radicals that can cause cancer or permanent damage to your cells. The berries are very high in fiber, which is good for your digestive tract. They can also help improve your memory functionality, which is great for older people. Hemp seeds and chia seeds are widely known for their high protein content, which helps the body to metabolize fats more efficiently. 1 frozen banana 1/2 cup frozen cherries 1/2 cup almond milk 1/2 fresh banana cut into coins fresh raspberries fresh cranberries 1 tablespoon shell-less pumpkin seeds 1 tablespoon coconut flakes 1 teaspoon chia seeds 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds 1 tablespoon hemp seeds Take your banana, frozen cherries, and almond milk and blend it into liquid mixture. This is going to be the base of your smoothie bowl. You can place your banana slices to the side or simply drop them into the bowl. 19.01.2022 With this cooler weather approaching I like to make an infusion of antibacterial and anti-inflammatory herbs at the first sign of a tickly throat. This recipe is easy and you might even have all of this already growing in your garden. I like to drink it warm but you can cool it and have at room temperature too. I wouldnt drink it straight from the fridge as it will be too cold for these autumn days. Give it a try and let me know what you think ... 5 fresh sage leaves, ripped in half 2 fresh thyme sprigs Sliced ginger about 2.5-3cm 2 cups (500ml) boiling water Juice of a lemon Optional 2 tsp raw honey or coconut sugar Add all sage leaves,thyme and ginger into a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Once cooled a little add lemon juice, this way you want kill the amazing antibacterial properties of the lemon Pour into cups through strainer and stir in raw honey if desired If you like, you can add a slice of lemon and a sprig of thyme into the drink to pretty it up! Drink while warm or cool overnight for a refreshing cold beverage.
18.01.2022 Whilst many emotions are swinging wildly from one extreme to the other during these difficult times, it is important to understand that not everybody is sitting... in the same boat... WE ARE NOT IN THE SAME BOAT author unknown I heard that we are all in the same boat, but it's not like that. We are in the same storm, but not in the same boat. Your ship could be shipwrecked and mine might not be. Or vice versa. For some, quarantine is optimal. A moment of reflection, of re-connection, easy in flip flops, with a cocktail or coffee. For others, this is a desperate financial & family crisis. For some that live alone they're facing endless loneliness. While for others it is peace, rest & time with their mother, father, sons & daughters. With the $600 weekly increase in unemployment some are bringing in more money to their households than they were working. Others are working more hours for less money due to pay cuts or loss in sales. Some families of 4 just received $3400 from the stimulus while other families of 4 saw $0. Some were concerned about getting a certain candy for Easter while others were concerned if there would be enough bread, milk and eggs for the weekend. Some want to go back to work because they don't qualify for unemployment and are running out of money. Others want to kill those who break the quarantine. Some are home spending 2-3 hours/day helping their child with online schooling while others are spending 2-3 hours/day to educate their children on top of a 10-12 hour workday. Some have experienced the near death of the virus, some have already lost someone from it and some are not sure if their loved ones are going to make it. Others don't believe this is a big deal. Some have faith in God and expect miracles during this 2020. Others say the worst is yet to come. So, friends, we are not in the same boat. We are going through a time when our perceptions and needs are completely different. Each of us will emerge, in our own way, from this storm. It is very important to see beyond what is seen at first glance. Not just looking, actually seeing. We are all on different ships during this storm experiencing a very different journey. 13.01.2022 ? I ? I am asking because I know I have also had my own uncertainty about what is going on around us. My husband is in the event business and has gone from a solid timetable to having all jobs cancelled until October, so I know that times are tough and many have lost work but by supporting each other we are going to come through this. Every time we turn on the news we cannot escape CV-19 and the reporting can be doom and gloom, so of course ...we start to feel anxious and worried. Fear creeps in if you let it. I often talk about eating healthy nutritious foods but did you know that feeding your mind with healthy nutritious thoughts is also important. We can choose to - or we can choose to take control of the things we can like our thoughts. I have found that giving to myself first, I often talk about journaling and if you havent yet done this now is a great time to begin. Write down the things you are grateful for, choose 3 things you will achieve and let go of the things you cannot change. You can meditate on this if it makes it easier and keeps you calm. 07.01.2022 . Stop looking in the fridge for inspiration and include these to the pantry. So simple and delicious 2 cans of chickpeas (I like #globalorganics ) 2 tbs olive oil... 1 tsp garlic powder, ground cumin, ground coriander 2 tsp smoked paprika salt and pepper to taste Toss together all ingredients in a bowl and spread out on a tray lined with baking paper Place in am moderate oven and bake for 30 minutes, turning halfway through. When cooled you can store in a jar for several days Eat as a snack or toss into a salad for extra crunch * instead of the above spices you could use Italian herbs and a sprinkle of nutritional yeast Chickpeas are nutrient powerhouses packed with essential minerals See more

07.01.2022 , - The way the immune system is talked about is that it is this that we grow and develop, that we feed superfoods and its going to become robust but it doesnt work like that. .... There isnt one food alone that will boost your in fact we need multiple different balanced foods. I like to tell my clients to eat a variety of colourful foods with, healthy plant fats like avocado and olive and their oils to maximize the absorption of our fat soluble vitamins like Vitamins A & E, copper, and one of most important antioxidant vitamins Vitamin C. Dont forget your going to get fibre with the veggies which is so very important t keep your digestive tract nice and healthy. Including animal and plant proteins to get your daily needs for minerals especially essential immune minerals Zinc as well as iron, B12, B6. Supporting our gut health is vital for immune health I personally like to include fermented foods like Miso, kimchi, sauerkraut and yoghurts in my daily diet. Keeping inflammation down is important as well so I add turmeric to cooking and drink our amazing Golden Latte (recipe included in the recipe guide) I have put together for breakfast, lunch and dinner plus bonus snacks and it is family friendly! 06.01.2022 I think there is nothing better that a quick soup for lunch. This carrot and tomato soup is as quick as cooking the carrot until tender. Bonus its great for these beautiful autumn days Sweat a chopped onion and several cloves of garlic in some olive oil, add 3 chopped carrots and 1 can of organic peeled tomatoes and 2-3 cups of Massel Veggie stock, simmer 15-20 minutes or until the carrot is tender. Puree and top with some fresh herbs and you have a nutritious lunch without any guilt
