06.01.2022 Congratulations to Ellen Shearsby of Year 12 whose artwork has been selected for the Art Rules exhibition at Hazelhurst. Her stunning and delicate work explores the environment. Of the work she says: "The environment appears to be destined for rapid destruction due to climate change, however, my work explores an optimistic future for our planet, depicting a utopian lush ecosystem that mimics cells in nature. The laborious embroidery stitching and overall intense labour of t...he work highlight the commitment and work needed to mend the damaged state of the Earth and the importance of taking action before it’s too late. The abstract form of my work illustrates the complexities and intricacies of nature through the repetition of organic and circular shapes. Art Rules runs from Saturday 19 December 2020 Sunday 17 January 2021 at Hazelhurst’s Broadhurst Gallery.

05.01.2022 Today The Jannali High School celebrated Remembrance Day organised by our Year 9 students. This year, Remembrance Day was the focus for the Year 9 English/History cross KLA Challenge Based Learning Project. The Big Idea was Empathy through storytelling Students in 9 English P have been creating stories with war as their context, with the aim to create a sense of connection through examining and telling stories from WW1. Similarly, 9 History 1 have been researching biograp...hies of soldiers in WW1 who have a connection with our school community. Their goal was to communicate those stories in a multi-modal and visceral way to our school and broader community. These stories shown in the iMovie resonated with our students due to the family connections to the soldiers https://youtu.be/8FMqGeppfCA
