23.01.2022 GARDENING inc. planting of seeds will be happening again THIS SATURDAY SEPT 12th (NOT 22nd as the flyer reads) from 10am - 12pm. FREE COFFEE, good company! See Deidre's message... Hi everyone, This is Deidre from the Junction Community Centre. I am working with Ottoway residents to revegetate their verges and front gardens with local butterfly attracting plants that also provide nectar for birds and bees.... There is an additional benefit to this. The more we plant out our suburb the cooler and more beautiful it becomes. We will be planting out the Junction's garden and asking residents to select plants to be delivered on the following Saturday for you to plant. Each household will be given up to 10 plants + native compost, fertiliser and water saving crystals. I hope you will join us and share your garden ideas and FREE coffee. Cheers Deidre

18.01.2022 Dear all, the Committee of Management met on July 2nd and in accordance with the State Government's Stage 3 Easing of Restrictions have approved the resumption of 95% of the centre's activities. The COM has decided to delay the return of Playgroup, large community events and private function hire for now - this will be reviewed prior to the start of term 4 (Oct, 2020).... We have asked that all Group Facilitators do a Covid-safe plan (https://www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/rec/create-a-covid-safe-plan); and all Group Facilitators, centre staff and volunteers do the free Covid Infection Control 15 minute online training (https://www.health.gov.au//covid-19-infection-control-trai) prior to our resuming activities at the start of term 3 (week beginning July 20th). Please note: EVERYONE using the centre will be required to use sanitiser, practice social distancing and complete the Covid Contact Tracing form/sign in sheet in the front foyer upon entry. For the safety of all, everyone MUST comply with the Government's Covid health guidelines whilst engaging in the centre or you will be asked to leave. Please feel free to contact either Kay or Sophia should you have any concerns. We look forward to seeing you soon!!!

17.01.2022 SEWING TUTOR - voluntary position We are looking for someone to run our Sewing For A Cause classes on Thursdays from 10am-12pm during school term. The voluntary position would require someone who can do dressmaking - to teach the students from scratch, how to make simple items of clothing. The students will then have the skills to make one for themselves and another for the centre to donate to families in need in the APY Lands. ... The tutor would need to demonstrate: * sound dressmaking skills * the ability to work with women with varying levels of English proficiency * the ability to work with women who may need extra support to learn the skills being taught All fabric, haberdashery, sewing machines and overlockers are provided by the centre. Please call Sophia on 8341-1334 to apply, thanks.

08.01.2022 So, I just finished my first 'Walk A Mile' which I decided to do after seeing so many more people homeless or suffering much greater hardship in and around the Port during the peak of the Covid period. I extended my weekly hike and did 11kms in 2hrs. I met my fundraising goal ($250) but if you can donate more to help people that are homeless - it'd be great! Thank you so much. https://www.walkamile.org.au//sophia/walk-a-mile-challenge
