25.01.2022 LEAP Centre Coronavirus Update 15 June 2020 Last week saw the return of music therapist, Simone and we all enjoyed having visitors and welcoming families back into the building. With strict protocols around hand sanitising, numbers of adults and children in the Centre and social distancing we are slowly beginning to visit more children in the community and have some children come to the Centre. Children who enjoy and continue to benefit from telehealth services may continue t...o receive supports in this way but for others a return to face to face can be discussed with your therapist. Our school readiness group is set to start this week. For the first 2 sessions we will have smaller groups to limit the number of people in the building and our plan is to move to the full group during term 3. We will be taking extra time to clean the environment and resources after each session/group and to make sure that we ask people to cancel their session if they or their child are unwell or have returned a positive COVID test result. We still have some staff working from home to reduce the number of people at the office which is in line with the current Government advice. Do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns. You can: telephone the Centre on 02 60241809 email me [email protected] or talk directly to your usual therapist/support coordinator Sarah Nicolson Centre Manager

24.01.2022 The LEAP centre in conjunction with Association for Children with a Disability (ACD) are holding a Zoom session in relation to SSG’s and children returning to school. The session will be held this Wednesday Night the 27th May at 8pm. Preparing for your Student Support Group is our new 45 minute online workshop for parents of students with disability.... This session is very timely with kids returning to school in the next couple of weeks, we spend a little bit of time looking at what transition considerations some kids may need after home learning. 13.01.2022 The LEAP Centre Carers Connect group has purchased a number of Resilience Project workbooks for carers. For those who haven't heard about the Resilience project I have included a short video about it. It is a project that focuses on finding the positives, even during the tough times. We will also be setting up a specific Facebook group so that we can share our experiences with others if you feel comfortable to. This is open to anyone who accesses The LEAP centre past and present. If you would be interested in joining in the program, and would like a book dropped off, email Katrina at [email protected] or phone The LEAP centre on (02) 6024 1809.
13.01.2022 Our wonderful MyTime play helper Steph Duff has created some activity packs for your kids to do at home. These kits include colouring in, recipes, a mask to make and some bubbles. If you would like one of these kits then please let Katrina at LEAP know how many kits you would like and which ones. These kits can be picked up at The LEAP Centre Wodonga or can be dropped off to you. Steph will be creating more kits next week also.
12.01.2022 Starting Prep is a milestone for all children and parents/carers. It's an exciting time but can also be stressful. A smooth transition is more likely if parents/carers have all the tools and information about what to expect and how to build a positive relationship with their school. Inspired Carers and Association for Children with a Disability (ACD) are running a free online workshop series in mid November for parents/carers who have a child with a disability or developmental delay starting prep in 2021. The workshop will be hosted by Nicole O'Brien (Inspired Carers) and delivered in three sixty minute sessions over three consecutive weeks. Full details and registration in the Eventbrite link. https://events.acd.org.au/north-east-spt
11.01.2022 Check out this free online summit happening all of this week =)
11.01.2022 LEAP Centre Coronavirus Update 6 April 2020 We are continuing to provide supports via telephone and video link to as many families as possible and we are aiming to keep in touch with everyone during this challenging time. We are minimising the number of staff in the Centre at any one time with staff working from home where possible. We are continuing to observe social distancing and hand hygiene protocols when we are in the building. There will be at least 1 staff member at t...he Centre from Monday to Thursday to answer phone queries. As you may have heard, the NDIS has increased by 10% the price which providers can charge for some services. This includes early childhood intervention supports and therapeutic supports but does not apply to support coordination. This has been done to help providers to remain afloat financially. Many organisations, including the LEAP Centre, are experiencing a decrease in the amount of service they can provide with the current restrictions in place. The price increase will last for 6 months and will be reviewed by the NDIS in 3 months. We will contact families individually to let them know that we have begun charging the new rate. We will continue to keep you updated about how the changes are impacting the LEAP Centre. Do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns. You can telephone the Centre on 02 60241809 email me [email protected] or talk directly to your usual therapist/support coordinator Sarah Nicolson Centre Manager See more

Morning tea will be provided as per normal. It will be a great opportunity for us to catch up and talk about the events of the last 3 month. ... I need families to email me that they intend on coming to the session. To RSVP contact [email protected] Can you please also let anyone else know who may not see this message. There will be hand sanitiser for your use at the front door. We also ask that you register you attendance as you arrive. No one is to enter the kitchen. We ask that if you or your child has a cough, runny nose, fever or is unwell in anyway, that you please stay at home. We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
08.01.2022 IMPORTANT INFO We are having issues with our email system, specifically the manager's email address. Please delete and do not open any attachments, if it does not look like a legit email. If you have any concerns or are unsure please give us a call. At this stage it is just the one email address, not any other therapists'. We are following up on the issue and will do our best to make sure no further issues occur.
08.01.2022 LEAP Centre Coronavirus Update 20 April 2020 We hope that you and your family are travelling ok as the restrictions on our normal routines continue. We certainly miss seeing you all and working with your children face to face. I expect many of you have been very busy with home schooling this last week as term 2 gets underway. The team at LEAP are working hard to make telehealth both a fun and productive learning time. We are finding that there needs to be quite a bit of pre...paration and organisation for each session and you may see that reflected in your payment requests/invoices. The privacy of your child’s telehealth session is maintained through the built -in functions of Zoom. Do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns. You can: telephone the Centre on 02 60241809 email me [email protected] or talk directly to your usual therapist/support coordinator Sarah Nicolson Centre Manager See more

02.01.2022 LEAP Centre Coronavirus Update 11 May 2020 As we see the restrictions slowly starting to lift in Victoria and NSW, we have begun thinking about how we move back to services as usual. This will include: All staff returning to work at the Centre... Visiting families at home and having them visit us at the Centre Seeing children at preschool, childcare and school Continuing telehealth sessions for some children MyTime group and other parent support groups meeting at the Centre School readiness group commencing These things will happen as a staged response over time and as always we will be guided by state and federal government recommendations. In the meantime, it is important that we continue to observe the social distancing and hand hygiene requirements. When we do start face to face visits again it will also be important for people to let us know if there has been any recent illness in the family so that we can continue to do our best to keep everyone safe. Do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns. You can: telephone the Centre on 02 60241809 email me [email protected] or talk directly to your usual therapist/support coordinator Sarah Nicolson Centre Manager
