24.01.2022 Great footage of one of our kiwi cousin penguins. Right in Wellington city opposite my old workplace of (ahem) 35 years ago. I also had them nesting under my house in Island Bay!

22.01.2022 We are open for business! A fantastic, important message from Australia.com. Please share!

22.01.2022 Nature Parks temporarily closes its doors In light of the rapidly changing situation, and in order to help contain the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Na...ture Parks Board has made the very difficult decision to temporarily close the Penguin Parade, Koala Conservation Reserve, The Nobbies and Churchill Island, effective from 5pm on Monday 23 March. We have been committed to ensuring the safety of our visitors, staff and community since the commencement of this global outbreak. Last week we reduced maximum numbers allowed at the outdoor viewing areas of the Penguin Parade to less than 500, and we had also made significant changes to the operation of the visitor centre so that we could maintain less than 100 people indoors. Upon further consideration of the risk posed to staff and visitors coming together in all of our venues, the Board made the decision to temporarily close in order to offer the greatest protection to our visitors and staff from close contact. The decision to temporarily close the Penguin Parade especially has not been made lightly, as it has been an important part of the local community for nearly 100 years, and has been at the centre of holiday plans for generations of Victorian families. We are critically aware however of the need to play our part in managing the safety of our staff, our visitors, those in our community who are most vulnerable, and the wider community, so this is clearly the right decision. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your cooperation and understanding during these challenging times, as and of course for your ongoing support of the Nature Parks over the years. We would like to assure you that we will be ready and willing to welcome you back to Phillip Island as soon as its considered appropriate to do so. Visitors with existing bookings or tickets to the Nature Parks are requested to contact the agent, tour operator or online platform through whom their tickets were purchased. For any tickets purchased directly through the Nature Parks website or over the phone, please refer to www.penguins.org.au for more information, or contact the Nature Parks at [email protected] Our thoughts are with all of those impacted by the virus, and we look forward to a time when this is resolved and we can once again welcome visitors from all around the world to this special place.

22.01.2022 Safe to travel with them and, even better, us! Please support small businesses at this difficult time and always book direct. Thanks.

21.01.2022 Information about TripAdvisor Experiences price increase. Please share. From 02/2020 TripAdvisor decided unilaterally and without prior notice to operators to increase retail prices on activities and experiences. The objective is to get a 25% commission for each booking. This means that, when you book through their platform, 25% of the price that you are paying is going directly to them. Its not operators who are increasing prices, our net prices remain the same.... Thats why we want to encourage you to BOOK DIRECTLY WITH OPERATORS, the same way that you book directly with hotels, restaurants and others. When you book via third parties, 25% goes straight to them. We could understand this was fair in exchange for online exposure, but 25% is unacceptable. And they are now making a lie of their own Low Price Guarantee because they are selling tours for a higher price than on the tour operators own website. TripAdvisor and other online travel agents are also dominating search engines making it more difficult for small businesses to survive without selling tours through them. Basically they are driving up the price you pay for tours. See more

18.01.2022 Awesome to see the Penguin Parade reopening! They are starting with only 100 tickets per day, down a bit from the usual 3500! So only for the general public for now, no tour buses. We are still looking at an August reopening, if it looks viable with only Australian and maybe kiwi visitors. Its a great time for locals to make the trip down there. Just make sure you pre-book online, there are no sales onsite.

15.01.2022 Too good not to share. Stuck at home? Clean the windows, make sauce!

15.01.2022 Sydneysiders and Melburnians are now donning P2 air pollution masks to go outside because the air is thick with bushfire smoke. No they are not Lonely Planet! Very very few people are wearing masks and most days are clear and fine. 5 million people live here and we are all doing just fine thanks!

11.01.2022 Everyones a winner at the Penguin Parade! A light-hearted look at the little penguins to keep you going until we can return.

11.01.2022 Its Penguin Awareness Day! Here are some little facts about Phillip Islands Little Penguins: Little penguins (Eudyptula minor) are the smallest of all pen...guin species. They stand approximiately 33cm tall and weigh around one kilogram, with males weighing slightly more than females. Little penguins breed in colonies along the southern coastlines of Australia and New Zealand, with Phillip Island in Victoria home to an estimated 32,000 breeding adults. Little penguins spend 80% of their lives at sea swimming and foraging for food, and return to their nesting burrows on Phillip Island to breed, raise chicks, moult and to take a break after days or weeks spent at sea. It is when little penguins return to land, at sunset each day, that visitors to the Penguin Parade are lucky enough to spot them tumbling from the waves, waddling across the beach and into their colony along the coastline. Your visit to the Penguin Parade on Phillip Island contributes to vital research, conservation and education. Little Penguin facts via Penguin Foundation

02.01.2022 Great news from the Penguin Parade, a very successful breeding season!

01.01.2022 Im very sorry to say that after 9 years of blood sweat and tears and 7 day weeks I have finally been forced to take a break! We are closed until August due to the Coronavirus situation. Massive thanks to my right hand man David for his support and fantastic tour guiding over the last 7 years. If anyone has a job for a couple of 59 year olds with no skills other than giving awesome tours please let me know! Stay safe and well everyone. Look after your neighbours.

01.01.2022 Hi Everyone We have had several people contacting us recently regarding the devastating bushfires unfolding in our state. I would like to reassure everyone that Phillip Island and our wonderful little penguins are safe and well away from the fire zones. Our tours are still operating and we are constantly monitoring the situation. Safety for our guests is a huge priority. Your messages of concern and support are hugely appreciated. Thanks.
