Presidents Report, As I was not at the last meeting I cannot report on the meeting we had in August. I was overseas visiting the Magic Live Magic Convention in Las Vegas with John and Carol Bowen. I will give a full report of that at our next meeting. Our 75th birthday celebrations will be held at the Magic Zone on the 3rd Monday of December (our normal club night). This function will be fully catered for dinner and BYO drinks. The price is $5 for members and their partners, $20 for non members and friends. You can either pay at the Club on our next meeting, or by phone to me or pay directly into our Magic Circle bank account. Add $1 if you are paying by Credit Card to cover the cost. There are only 100 tickets for sale, and I think we will have it fully booked out. This is the type of function that you showcase to your friends, so get a group together and book early. I am having about 8 people go and if half our members do the same we will sell all tickets before we offer them to other clubs. It is for dinner and show. Please call me on 97062433 or 0412335165. 23.01.2022 m. Close. PRESIDENTS REPORT We were fortunate to have 2 lectures at our club in the last month. First we had PETER COOK. I warned every one that Peter is a very funny man, and he did not let me down, he had every one in stitches of laughter. Peter in his working life was employed by the oil companies and spent all his week at work far out at sea on an Oil rig. All his spare time was spent in the workshop making magic. He demonstrated some of the magic he made witch was uniqu...e to Peter. Second we had DAVE LORD. Those who paid the $25 certainly got their moneys worth. He did not have lecture notes but Graham video recorded it, and this is his Lecture Notes. Only the people who attended the lecture on the night can purchase them from Graham. The Money for the video goes to Graham to cover cost to produce it. Please see Graham if you want them. Up coming lectures. JOE MONTI Monday the 10th of June. 22.01.2022 At the 75th MCV party once again held on Monday 16th December there will be footage displayed on the projector screen. This will be silent footage. If you would like to be included in this footage Graeme will be filming at the next meeting (Monday 21st October). If you are interested please bring along a quick visual trick (no speech) This can be anything form a vanish, appearance, flourish, juggling etc. Please bring along something. 22.01.2022 VICE PRESIDENTS REPORT Another great night with a lecture from Barry Govan, who came all the way from Ballarat. More than thirty members & guests attended to enjoy a very interesting & informative evening. Barry demonstrated & taught us some of the magic that has made him famous around the world. Thank you Barry. Many thanks to Alan Sloggett who suggested Barry for the lecture & gave him a bed for the night. Any members who might have a friend or knows someone who would be w...illing to do a lecture please let the committee know. The July meeting is the Annual General Meeting. The 2011-12 Harmony winners will be announced on the night. It is also Solve-A-Trick night. If you have a trick with no instructions or you are not sure how to do it, bring it along. Those who attended would have been well entertained by his unique style of performing. He has invented a lot of tricks using magnets and latex. If you ever wanted or needed a spade or dove or even a hammer made out of latex he is the man to see. His web site is www.magiclatex.com if you view the link you will see his illusion show. I have been performing with balloons for over 20 years and I feel that I am good at it. 11.01.2022 Hi, My name is Justin Dalton and I run a childrens summer camp in New York called Chipinaw. We hire staff from all over the world in order to give our campers a diverse experience. I am partial to hiring Aussie as they have a... great work ethic, I am one so that might be a motivating factor also... I am looking for someone to come over for 8 weeks and teach magic to our campers and be apart of camp. 08.01.2022 Vice Presidents Report Caryl & I woke in Seattle U.S.A. at 7am. 42 hours later we arrived at the April MCV meeting at The Magic Zone. Other than a nap on the plane, it had been 42 hours since we had seen a bed, so if I seemed a bit fuzzy at the meeting, that was the reason! I would like to thank Peter Rodda for a good lecture. It was diversified, informative and helpful, not only for the contestants in the March close-up competition, but for all 32 people who attended the Ap...ril meeting. Another great variety of magic in Harmony with nine contestants. Did you find it hard to pick a winner? So did I! There is a new format for MCV meetings starting in June. Doors open at 7pm. Meeting starts 7.30pm sharp with the Presidents welcome, swearing-in ceremony, then Harmony. After a 10 minute interval, the Guest Speaker will be introduced. Dont forget that you must be a financial member to be able to vote at the AGM on 16th July. You can pay at the June meeting or when you arrive at the AGM prior to the start of the meeting. Membership fees are the same as last year. Our Guest Speaker for June is International Master Magician, Barry Govan. This is not a lecture to be missed. Barry has been a very successful performer & lecturer in Australia & America. His sleight of hand has been featured on TV & in films. He has a life-time of magical knowledge to share with you. P.S. 05.01.2022 June Hi all, This month we have talented Barry Govan coming in to give us a lecture. Barry has proven himself to be one of the best card mechanics in the business with an astounding career. He was also one of the first to teach Casino dealers to recognise signs a person may be cheating with cards. This is truly not a lecture to be missed.

Shane Hill will be our Guest at the March meeting of The Circle and he will be talking on the Hypnosis Show he operates. As well as Shanes experience with his Hypnosis Shows, he is also a well rounded Performer, with years in the business including: Stand Up Comedian, Magician, Clinical Hypnotherapist, Stage & Show Promoter & marketer and has a deep interest in N. L. P. (Neuro Linguistic Programming) With such a well-rounded background, I cant think of a better person to be talking to our March meeting on the
03.01.2022 Presidents Report Last meeting (third Monday in September) We had three new guests that have not been to our club before. Also, we had as a guest Graham Etherington. (past lecturer of our club) We had five perform for harmony. Felix did a card trick that was on the Penn and Teller show and it fooled Penn and Teller. A card was chosen at random and he did a spread of black cards and it was printed ( the random card which was the 6 of spades) on face of the blank cards. George... did a card trick involving 5 sets of 5 cards and he named the selected card in all five piles. Alan (me) performed the Unequal Ropes. Richard did one of my old favourites the Jumping Red Knot. Garry performed the Washing Line trick with all different kinds of socks and he was wearing the two odd socks that were randomly chosen. Gary Johnson was the winner and Alan Sloggett second. The standard of magic in harmony has been exceptionally high this year, and last meeting was no exception. Anyone of the five contestants could have won it. Felix (from Spain) is lecturing next meeting and is a must for all to attend. It is free for members and $25 for guests. We as the Magic Circle of Victoria will be hosting him, so it is your dues that are paying for his fees, so it is a must for members to attend. I do not know much about Felix, but have heard that he is a great lecturer. Richard Wibberley is hosting a magic convention sometime next year. He has already secured an overseas lecturer. What a great meeting we had last month, with almost a record number of people attending. It was great to see so many juniors in attendance. If I fast forward 20 years I might wander into the club and I bet one of those juniors will be the president of our club. Next month is our auction of magic props. If youre just starting out in magic, or a regular performer, it may be the right time for our regular performers to pick up a bargain. From memory you can pick up good tricks for less than a tenth of their value. We had 7 performers for Harmony with remarks from the new comers such as .....Wow what a great standard that was. So keep it going. Im always delighted with the standard of Harmony. The line up is as follows: George, Sanjay, Roger, John, Felix, Richard, Alan. Winners were: First Felix ( well done and well deserved) Second John Cairns Third Alan ( me) We had Duck Cameron as our guest lecturer. He was very well received by all and he did a great job of both teaching a trick and his stories of performing. Thank you Duck. Almost all tickets have just about been sold for our 75th anniversary on the 16th of December. I only have 4 tickets left and am saving them for members only. Nick Johnson gave us a fantastic lecture with insights to how a Con Mans mind works. We also had 7 people compete in Harmony with 7 people finishing in the top 3. Rex gave us a show in Time for a Trick with a routine based around the Rope and Vase trick. Alan was away for this meeting but will be back for the next one! At this early stage we intend to limit the number of attendees to 75 and the weekend will be a friendly revival of past conventions in Melbourne. Two venues will be utilized The cost of the convention will be approx. $250 and included in this price will be Friday night cocktails and Magic Circle Stage show. Guest Speaker yet to be determinedany ideas/requests Dealers Demonstration. Close-up Competition. Rules to be determined Childrens Competition. Cash Prize to winner to be staged at Bayswater Arts Centre 175 seats.
