25.01.2022 Day 306 After leaving Fraser Island we backtracked to Tin Can Bay so we could feed the dolphins. The volunteers at Barnacles Dolphin Centre were very knowledgeable and we learnt a lot about these beautiful creatures who come in for a feed each morning.... Definitely worth a visit! #dolphins #dolphinfeeding #barnaclesdolphincentre #rain #rainbow #pelican #travellingaroundaustralia #caravanningwithkids #explorequeensland #queensland @ Tin Can Bay, Queensland

24.01.2022 Day 259 to 274 Cape York - Part 1 Excited was an understatement for Morgo as he has been so keen to do the cape for a long time. Lunch at Bramwell Roadhouse then bang straight into the Old Telegraph Track with van in tow and wow wasn’t it spectacular. Next couple of days we’re filled with with nervousness, fear, adrenaline, elation and massive smiles with some big woohoos. When people pull up and ask if they can have a beer and watch I’m pretty sure someone got even keener to... try the harder routes. But eventually we had to pull off and head to the tip for repairs after the front diff developed a not very nice grinding noise. So limping up to Bamaga we dropped the van off beachside at Loyalty Beach whilst waiting for repairs then onto the gorgeous Punsand Bay and thought we would test out the repairs by taking the van to the tip via the Roma Flats 4wd track which required some very tight manoeuvring and would not recommend towing anything through here. Nothing like a bit more adrenaline hey, but we did eventually make it all the way to the tip of Australia! #completecampsite #capeyork #capeyorkadventures #loyaltybeach #travellingaroundaustralia #caravanningwithkids #explorefnq @ Cape York, Queensland, Australia

23.01.2022 Day 301 Today’s adventures unexpectedly took us to the birthplace of Helen Lyndon Goff aka P.L.Travers, author of Mary Poppins. ‘The Story Bank’ is in the heritage listed Australian Joint Stock Bank building in Maryborough where P.L. travers was born in the upstairs bedroom in 1899.... From here, it was time to stock up on supplies at Rainbow Beach before heading to camp at Inskip Point for the night. #thestorybank #pltraversbirthplace #marypoppins #maryborough #read #caravanningwithkids #bookswap #travellingaroundaustralia #explorequeensland @ Mary Poppins Statue

21.01.2022 Day 315 This caravan park was right on the Tallebudgera Creek which was perfect for swimming, kayaking, fishing and watching the sunset! Max found an unusual jellyfish in the shallow water and snapped this pic.... It would have been great to stay here longer! #tallebudgeracreektouristpark #tallebudgeracreek #jellyfish #sunset #travellingaroundaustralia #caravanningwithkids #explorequeensland #lapofaustralia @ Tallebudgeraba Creek

20.01.2022 Day 300 Today was another big day of driving and we ended up at the coastal towns of 1770 & Agnes Water. We don’t like to book ahead as we never know where our adventures may lead us but unfortunately this meant we could not get a site in the beachside caravan parks. On the flip side, we did find a peaceful bush retreat to park our van @travellersrest1770 only a few k’s out of town which was well priced and has a new amenities block (when you travel you really appreciate a go...od shower and clean amenities!) #theolegumtreetravellersrest #1770 #travellingaroundaustralia #caravanningwithkids #explorequeensland

20.01.2022 Day 307-310 Left Tin Can Bay and took the scenic route to the Sunshine Coast via Rainbow Beach. Spent a few days R & R at Rick & Leanne’s little oasis ‘Fai Fai Lemu’ while exploring the local area.... We all had a crack at knee boarding and wakeboarding but then it was game over for Max when he decided to try to eat his board resulting in a fat lip and a bit of glue. We then headed south and caught up with Blair, Tina & the boys. They put on a spectacular light and sound show complete with hail. Can’t same the same for the Wallabies, nothing like being at a Kiwi’s house for the Bledisloe Cup! Thanks guys for your hospitality xx #rainbowbeach #completecampsite #ricksgarage #wakeboarding #blibliaquapark #sunshinecastle #travellingaroundaustralia #caravanningwithkids #explorequeensland @ Sunshine Coast, Queensland

19.01.2022 Cape York - Part 2 Back over the Jardine River to camp at Canal Creek for 4 days whilst we explored. Bit of everything 4WD’ing- steep descents, big angles, wombat holes and water crossings morgo was in his element mud, rock and sand it had it all. It was great to catch up with and share adventures with @our.folk.tale and @the_hof_lap again!... We loved chasing waterfalls by day and relaxing around the campfire with an amazing singer and guitarist @rhysadams at night which may of included a few hangovers. The car held up well this time and Morgo was a bit devastated that he wasn’t allowed to finish off the track with the van! #capeyork #oldtelegraphtrack #4wdaustralia #explorefnq #visitqld #travellingaroundoz

19.01.2022 Day 257-258 We spent two peaceful nights on the river just out of Coen. The kids happily played with sticks, rocks and fire and made bases, paint and music while Kristy read and Morgo tightened a few bolts that had rattled loose. The service station attendant at Musgrave Roadhouse was a bit ‘beefy’ but was friendly and happy for Max to give her a pat. #whitelilylagoon #oldlaurahomestead #coenriver #musgraveroadhouse #cow #rivercamp #whipcracking #coenhotel #campfire #themeanderingmorgans #capeyork #explorefnq #travelqld #caravanningwithkids #travellingaroundaustralia @ Coen - Cape York

18.01.2022 Day 248-250 Another big day of driving! We set off from Hell’s Gate with Kristy vowing never to tow the van on dirt again after yesterday’s / flat tyres and Morgo once again was in the driver’s seat. Originally, we set off for Lawn Hill Gorge but changed our minds and decided to head straight across towards Karumba to unwind for a few days (we’ve seen so many gorges that we don’t feel like we’re appreciating their beauty at the moment!) First stop was at Burketown to see the ...hot water bore that bubbles out of a mini volcano-like structure with water hot enough to burn! Next stop was at Leichhart Falls. Unfortunately, no water was flowing over the falls but there was still a large pool of water in the river but we couldn’t cool off due to crocs. Our last stop before Karumba was at Burke & Will’s Camp 119 which was the kid’s interesting History lesson for the day. The Sunset Tavern was the perfect spot to watch the sunset and catch up with some other travelling families. #family #sunset #themeanderingmorgans #karumbapoint #karumba #burkeandwills #camp119 #burketownbore #travellingoz #caravanningwithkids #qld #discoveraustralia @ Karumba, Queensland

17.01.2022 Day 311-314 Done the Goldie like we should-thrills, excitement, adventure and screams of sheer terror (all from Kristy and Ella!) but we had a blast doing it. Morgo and Max had a crack at everything they could, the scarier the better! 4 nights out of the van at Sea World Resort was great but it was hard to get any family member out of our spa bath because even the bathroom had a tv! (maybe being deprived for a year was a bit much) ... Ditching the kids to room service whilst we went out to fancy restaurants was up there with the highlights for sure but the one show that exceeded expectations was the Outback Spectacular-good tucker, drinks and the show was truly spectacular! The kids loved the Brazilian restaurant which I’m pretty sure we all gained a couple of kilos from! You all know the rest-beaches, shopping and sunshine! #seaworld #seaworldresort #movieworld #superman #flash #wetnwild #seal #dolphin #stingrays #travellingaroundaustralia #caravanningwithkids #explorequeensland #goldcoast #funtimes @ Gold Coast, Queensland

14.01.2022 Day 252 At Innot Hot Springs it was weird how the water could be scalding hot in some places but very cool in others. On the drive to Atherton it was an unusual sight for us to see clouds, rain (I think April was the last time we had rain!) and lush green hilly mountainsides with dense rainforest areas. This is where we found the massive Curtain Fig & Cathedral Fig.... The man-made crystal cave in Atherton exceeded our expectations with an amazing collection of crystals and huge geodes. The kids got to crack their own geode and a few purchases were made. #atherton #thecrystalcaves #innothotsprings #curtainfigtree #cathedralfigtree #geodes #themeanderingmorgans #travellingaroundaustralia #caravanningwithkids #exploreqld #farnorthqueensland @ Atherton, Queensland, Australia

13.01.2022 Woohoo!! We made it to the tip! #capeyork

13.01.2022 Day 254 Morgo enjoyed his sleep in and had a relaxing day for Father’s Day. He even relented and let us check out the local markets! Great impromptu catch up with some travelling friends. #portdouglasmarkets #big4portdouglas #avocado #waterslide #themeanderingmorgans #travellingaroundaustralia #caravanningwithkids #exploreqld #qld @ Port Douglas - North Queensland

12.01.2022 Day 251 After a few days relaxing at Karumba we hit the road once more. We found a ‘gem’ of a place at the info centre in Georgetown which is home to Ted Elliot’s mineral collection. It is reputed to be the most detailed and comprehensive private collection in Australia, rivalled only by the Geological Museum in Canberra. There were small rooms full of the most amazing minerals from Australia and worldwide. It’s mind boggling how some of these colourful creations actually com...e from the ground! Mount Surprise was where we set up camp for the night under the shade of a few trees. Here the kids enjoyed feeding the animals and fossicking for their own gemstones after visiting the Mount Surprise Gems. #tedelliotmineralcollection #mountsurprise #mineralspecimens #miniaturepony #themeanderingmorgans #travellingaroundaustralia #caravanningwithkids #exploreqld #pub @ Mount Surprise, Queensland

11.01.2022 Day 254 We spent the day in Cairns to get the brakes fixed on the van before we head north to Cape York. We’ll explore this area more on our way back down the coast. We found a great free camp at Greenpatch in Gordonvale where you can stay for up to 72 hours only 20 mins out of Cairns.... #cairns #thepancakeplace #pancakes #targa #superyacht #funatthepark #mountains #themeanderingmorgans #travellingaroundaustralia #caravanningwithkids #exploreqld #qld #thisisthelife @ Cairns, Queensland, Australia

10.01.2022 Day 255 What is this stuff falling from the sky? Welcome to the tropics- beautiful one moment, drizzling the next. We have only had 4 days with rain the whole trip and now it seems to happen every afternoon on the east coast but still so wonderful to be in the lush green of the Daintree after months of dusty tracks. #daintree #daintreerainforest #capetribulation #coconuts #beachlife #themeanderingmorgans #exploreqld #fnq #ropeswing #travellingaroundaustralia #caravanningwithkids @ Cape Tribulation Rainforest

08.01.2022 Day 245-246 Lorella Springs is a massive million acre, family owned property in the Gulf which you can explore by 4WD. As we were only there for 2 days we only got a chance to explore a small part of it. Valley of the Ghosts was our first stop which had recently been burnt by fire but this made it easier to navigate our way around the rock formations and caves. One was just like a fort and Morgo and Max pretended to take aim at the enemy approaching.... Nanny’s Pool was a good spot to go for a swim and Morgo and the kids checked out inside a cool cave. If there is a sign saying easy/hard, of course Morgo is always going to pick the hard way every time! He is always up for a 4WD challenge. We camped only 20m away from the hot springs at the homestead which were very welcoming after a day of 4WDing! #lorellasprings #campfire #themeanderingmorgans #explorent #nt #nannyspool #valleyoftheghosts #travellingoz #caravanningwithkids #adventure #aboriginalrockart @ Lorella Springs Wilderness Park

08.01.2022 Day 299 On the spur of the moment we decided to ditch the van for the night and head over to Great Keppel Island for a tropical island experience. We lazed around on the sandy white beaches and swam in the warm blue sea in the afternoon before enjoying dinner and cocktails while the sun set and the birds chirped.... #greatkeppelisland #greatkeppelislandhideaway #islandtime #sunset #family #beachlife #cocktails #travellingaroundaustralia #explorequeensland #thisisthelife #couldlivehere @ Great Keppel Island

07.01.2022 Day 296 Morgo’s birthday celebrations continued at Peter Faust Dam/Lake Proserpine. We spent the night with Ira and John at this picturesque free camp and the kids loved going out in Poppy John’s boat and paddling around on the kayak before kicking back by the campfire.... We’ve just read on a news page that on the night we camped here a bloke caught a 1.7m saltwater croc and took it home! #peterfaustdam #lakeproserpine #caravanningwithkids #travellingaroundaustralia #freecampingaustralia #queensland #explorequeensland #thisisthelife @ Peter Faust Dam

07.01.2022 Day 302-305 Another day, another island! Fraser was epic though with sharks, dingoes, turtles and rays, stunning lakes to swim in, sand dunes to slide down and creeks to float along, add the forests and we were in our element.... 4WDing by day and parties and campfires by night whilst sharing stories with new friends and old. Morgo took great pleasure in towing the van up the beach and not getting bogged whilst some others need to learn about tyre pressure. Even Kristy had a go driving home in the dark from the footy through creek crossings without an issue. What a place only wish we had more time! #fraserisland #lakemackenzie #elicreek #mahenoshipwreck #dingoes #4wdaustralia #sanddunes #shipwrecks #sandycape #travellingaroundaustralia #caravanningwithkids #explorequeensland #thisisthelife @ Fraser Island

05.01.2022 Day 292-295 Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays were the perfect places to celebrate Morgo’s 40th birthday! Ocean rafting, snorkeling, bushwalking, playing at the highest playground we’ve seen since SA, catching up with his parents and birthday dinner and drinks at Airlie Beach Hotel!... The kids didn’t want to leave the Big 4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort with massive pool, water slides, pedal carts, mini golf & farm animals but Morgo was keen to head off for a free camp and fire. #big4adventurewhitsunday #oceanraftingairliebeach #40thbirthday #snorkeling #greatbarrierreef #hillinlet #whitehavenbeach #airliebeachhotel #airliebeach #calf #caravanningwithkids #travellingaroundaustralia #thisisthelife @ Airlie Beach Whitsundays, Queensland

03.01.2022 Day 256 Well I’m glad we got the brakes fixed on the the van before tackling the Bloomfield Track! It was a very easy dirt road, just steep. It took us from Cape Tribulation to the iconic Lion’s Den Hotel where we partook in a drink or two before making our way to Black Mountain and then Captain Cook’s monument in Cooktown. Isabella Falls was good free camp for a quick overnight stopover. We’ll be back at the Lion’s Den on the way back down to tackle the Creb Track.... #bloomfieldtrack #dingo #cooktown #blackmountainnationalpark #captaincooksmonument #lionsdenhotel #isabellafalls #endeavourfalls #themeanderingmorgans #exploreqld #fnq #capeyork #fordaustralia #swingingbridge #travellingaroundaustralia #caravanningwithkids #4wdaustralia @ Cooktown, Queensland, Australia

02.01.2022 Day 247 The Southern Lost City was stunning! We all had fun walking and climbing through the rock formations before our long journey to Hell’s Gate Roadhouse just over the Queensland Border. After 100’s of kilometres on dirt roads Morgo was keen for a beer and let Kristy take the wheel for her maiden voyage towing on dirt.... With only 30kms to go the caravan took on an unusual lean and upon closer inspection found she had destroyed both the tyre and rim (the first for the van!) Morgo quickly got to work changing the tyre before continuing on only to find we had a another flat tyre by the the time we reached camp. It may be her one and only drive towing on dirt! #southernlostcity #limmennationalpark #nt #explorent #queenslandherewecome #ford #completecampsite #hellsgateroadhouse #travellingoz #caravanningwithkids #qld @ Limmen National Park

01.01.2022 Day 297-298 At Notch Point the kids spent hours swinging on the rope swings while Kristy was excited to see cows roaming the beach! Here we met Kristy, Rod and their kids... @baldyandtheblondes and decided to stay an extra night so we could join them on a 4WD adventure to Cape Palmerston, where at one point, we were surrounded by hundreds of beautiful butterflies flying around in the bush! It’s a shame we couldn’t stay longer but there are still so many more places we’d like to visit before we head home. #notchpoint #ropeswing #firstdrive #cowsonthebeach #campfire #capepalmerston #twinning #caravanningwithkids #travellingaroundaustralia #explorequeensland #beachlife @ Notch Point
