04.01.2022 Mixed results for our boys yesterday. Div 1 secured their second gf appearance in as many years, with a tough, hard fought, heart stopping 14-12 victory over Lakes. With 4 mins remaining & down 12-8, the boys were out on their feet. They dug in as a group, kept turning up for each other, stuck to their processes & were rewarded with a late try in the corner, off a set play to our centre Jai, after a scintillating 50m run by our winger Owen. This set the scene for Declan to ...attempt to nail a pressure sideline conversion...........KABOOM.....over it goes!!!! The boys then held on for the final 2 mins to claim victory, breaking the hearts of the Lakes players & supporters in the process. A superb effort by all players, although there’ll be some fine tuning needed to be done by coaches Simon & Daniel this week at training, to help bring home the silverware again next week, in a replay of last years GF against Wests at Cardiff Oval at 10-55am. Unfortunately our Div 2 boys went down 18-12 to Central. It was a disappointing end to a promising season, with the boys having many opportunities to secure victory. Missed chances & wrong options proved very costly in the end, it was definitely the one that got away. A big shout out to coaches Gaz & Gollo for their commitment & effort to the squad throughout the year, your passion for footy can never be questioned, great stuff. Can all players & supporters of the 2’s please get to Cardiff next week to cheer on the Div 1 boys? They would love to see & hear you all there.....GO YOU LIONS
