25.01.2022 New El Cid series starting soon from John Jenkins - handpainted metal figures 60mm. El Cid was a Spanish leader in the late 1000's who fought against the Moors from North Africa. There is a movie about him called El Cid starring Charlton Heston.
25.01.2022 British and French Marines from the Boxer Rebellion - handpainted metal 60mm figures from Team Miniatures. The figures here are the next releases from the Boxer series. Previous releases include : Boxers and Imperial Chinese troops, Russians, Germans, Italians and Americans. The British Royal Marines, officially titled 'Royal Marine Light Infantry' in 1900, were perhaps the most important force in the early part of the Boxer Rebellion of that year. When the call came from th...e legations in Peking for guards, 76 Royal Marines and 3 officers were sent from the British ships off the Chinese coast. The Marines wore several uniforms during this conflict. There are plenty of photographs of them in Peking, which show that normal dress during the siege was shirt-sleeve order (hardly surprising in the summer heat), and later in the conflict various elements of tropical uniform were worn. The Fusiliers Marins ("Naval Fusiliers") are specialized French naval infantry trained for combat in land and coastal regions. The Fusiliers Marins are also in charge of providing protection for naval vessels and key French Navy sites on land. A detachment of fusiliers marins defended the French Legation (diplomatic mission) in Peking during the Boxer Rebellion of 1900. Amongst their officers was enseigne de vaisseau Paul Henry and Pierre Alexis Ronarc'h, who, in 1914, would serve as Counter-Admiral and Commandant of the Brigade de Fusiliers Marins BFM attached to the 32nd Army Corps.
24.01.2022 Boxer Rebellion series from Team Miniatures - Italian Bersaglieri - handpainted metal figures 60mm. Arriving next month.
22.01.2022 Vietnam series from King and Country - new releases arriving soon. SP112 ‘Vietnam Firebase Sand Bag Emplacement’ A half-moon sand bag emplacement perfect for setting up one of our 105mm Howitzers either manned by Aussie Gunners or Marine Corps Artillerymen. This useful little display piece made in hard-wearing polystone can also be used to place stores, vehicles or soldiers. You decide what you need it for.... VN078 ‘NVA/VC Assault Team Set #1’ As this NVA regular prepares to throw one of his Chinese-made ‘potato-masher’ grenades the black-clad Viet Cong provides covering fire. VN079 ‘NVA/VC RPG Team’ As the VC Rocket Propelled Grenadier moves forward his NVA comrade follows closely behind with his AK47. VN080 ‘The NVA Machine Gun Team’ As the lying prone NVA soldier prepares to open fire the kneeling MG Team Leader observes the enemy through his binos. The gun itself is the WW2 era Degtyaryov Light Machine Gun in service from 1928 all the way up to the late 1960’s and even into the early 1970’s. It fired the standard Soviet 7.62mm round and could be fitted with either a 47 round ‘pan’ magazine or a 63 round version.
21.01.2022 The Victorian Era - Detectives, Bad Guys and street people from King & Country. Handpainted metal figures 60mm. This series is marketed by K&C as World of Dickens but I prefer to call it the Victorian era. Here you will see a new pair of Detectives to join previous releases. Images shown include Sherlock Holmes, Dr Watson, Mrs Hudson, Moriarity, two version of Hercules Poirot, Jack the Ripper and two potential victims, Bill Sykes, Fagin and the Artful Dodger. Plus a good vari...ety of civilians. Although Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous detective creation was Mr. Sherlock Holmes several other sleuths also appeared in his novels to occasionally assist (and sometimes hamper) the great detective in his work and criminal deliberations. Among the most famous were... WoD066 ‘Inspectors Lestrade & Bradstreet of Scotland Yard’ In fiction Lestrade appears in no less than 13 of the Sherlock Holmes tales and is described as ‘one of Scotland Yard’s finest detectives’. That being said he is often portrayed as solid, reliable but lacking the almost superhuman knowledge and imagination of Holmes himself. However, he’s always useful as a ‘good man to have around’ in a difficult or violent situation. Lestrade’s contemporary and fellow Scotland Yard detective is ‘Inspector Bradstreet’, who worked out of Bow Street Police Station and was member of the Metropolitan Police’s ‘B’ Division. Physically, he is a contrast to the slim, slightly built Lestrade Bradstreet is big and well-built and often wears a tweed suit which might indicate a more rural upbringing and early life. Both fictional detectives have also appeared in several films and television series about Mr. Holmes & Dr. Watson’s many adventures. AVAILABLE: Late May
17.01.2022 I think this police identification parade was rigged !

17.01.2022 Italian Grenadiers of the Guard. In 1804, when Napoleon Bonaparte proclaimed himself ‘Emperor’ of the French Empire, the Italian Republic was similarly transformed, becoming the ‘Kingdom of Italy’ with Napoleon as its monarch. For some time Italy had been a client state of France with its capital in Milan. This ‘new’ kingdom now ruled over most of northern Italy. Its army was organized along French military lines and included regular line infantry, light infantry, dragoons ...and light horse. It soon grew to add on chasseurs, elite mounted gendarmes and... Royal Grenadiers of the Guard. Many of the regiments wore green coats instead of French ‘blue’ however their general style and cut was copied from the French military fashion of the period. Here are K&C's first ‘Grenadiers of The Guard’ on parade... somewhere in Northern Italy. NA457 Marching Officer w/Sabre Officers of the Regiment had uniform jackets in green with white facings on the chest. They would wear riding boots instead of the long dark grey leggings of the majority of the rank and file Grenadiers. Napoleonics from King & Country - handpainted metal figures 60mm. These have recently arrived. NA458 Subaltern w/Regimental Colour The regiment’s colour and eagle were usually carried by a junior officer and based on French models but again with Italian ‘green’ replacing French ‘blue’. This particular officer has chosen to wear the same leggings as his men. NA460 Marching Grenadier Musket and bayonet held on the right side of the body this Grenadier marches forward. NA461 Marching Drummer An essential member of any parade note the ‘red’ uniform facings on the chest and cuffs. NA462 Grenadier Officer Saluting Sabre held to the front this officer comes to the ‘salute’. NA463 Grenadier Presenting Arm’ The ‘classic’ parade pose... One looks good, ten look even better! NA464 Grenadier on Guard Duty This figure also works particularly well with K&C’s Napoleonic Guard Box (NA316).

13.01.2022 John Jenkins 1066 series - Saxons, Normans and Vikings in dioramas made by Brisbane collector Greg. Greg is a local collector who is a fan of John Jenkins 1066 and also happens to be a very good diorama maker. Here he has depicted the battle of Hastings with the Normans attacking the Saxon shield wall and on the right is the Vikings attacking the Saxons at Stamford Bridge. This is quite an extensive series so far with many more to come (click through to see some prototype ima...ges) .Greg has had to buy some Saxons twice in order to be able to do the fight against the Vikings as well. He has left some space in the Hastings diorama as he knows there will be some fallen Norman cavalry and some more foot figures. Greg is a regular competitor in our annual diorama competition and always puts in some great displays. No surprise he has won our prizes a few times and I am guessing his Viking attack will be a future entry. Well done Greg and also to John Jenkins for creating a great series.
13.01.2022 Seems like Bruce did not even make it to the hospital !

11.01.2022 ‘BACK TO BEERSHEBA’ - King & Country Lighthorse series latest releases. Three new mounted figures coming soon. Previous "in camp" type releases also shown. One of K&C’s, biggest and most popular ‘Australians at War’ series is the charge of the Australian Light Horse at the Battle of Beersheba in 1917 in what was then Palestine during the First World War. The last couple of years has seen K&C put more emphasis on ‘Aussies in Vietnam’ however we’ve not forgotten about this dyna...mic range of mounted horsemen and we feel it’s time to add a few more... AL106 ‘ALH Trooper Mounting Up’ (Black Horse Version) A Light Horse trooper grasps the saddle with both hands as he prepares to hoist himself onto the back of his horse. AL107 ‘ALH Officer Turning-in-the Saddle’ This great-looking mounted officer figure comes with the ‘turning-head’ feature which was first introduced with our ‘John Ford Cavalry’ range of horsemen. AL108 ‘ALH Trooper Mounting Up’ (Brown Horse Version) The same figure as AL106 but with a different colour horse to add a little variety. AVAILABLE: Late May
10.01.2022 USMC 105mm Howitzer & Crew Set - this months releases from the King & Country Vietnam series. Handpainted metal 60mm figures. Please note there are many more USMC, Viet Cong and Australians in this popular series. VN075 ‘The USMC Artillery 105mm Howitzer & Crew Set’... That’s quite a mouthful... but then it’s also quite a set too. The K&C ‘105’ comes with 4 x USMC Gunners to serve and operate the gun. The 105mm M10A1 Howitzer was an artillery piece that began as the standard U.S. field howitzer of WW2. It also saw extensive battlefield service in Korea and Vietnam with both the U.S. Army and the USMC as well as with other Allied nations’ armies. Our USMC version has 4 x Marines serving the gun and will also have future extra ‘add-on’ sets to complete the gun in action. VN077 ‘Extra USMC Artillery Personnel’ Two more ‘Grunts’ to help complete the scene... One marine carries more shells forward while a kneeling Marine radio operator relays coordinates and instructions from H.Q. for more ‘fire-missions’. AVAILABLE: Late May Special Note: The special ‘half-moon’ sandbag revetment will be available in June plus a set of extra ammo as well as discarded empty shell cases is also ‘in the works’.

08.01.2022 Ceremonial Black Watch. Royal Marines and Lifeguards from KIng & Country - handpainted metal figures 60mm. In the pre 90's many of the metal toy soldiers made were 54mm glossy parade figures from the UK. Andy Neilson, the founder of King & Country, happens to be both Scottish and an ex Royal Marine. It is no wonder then that he likes to produce ceremonial figures every now and then. In the past year he has brought of those shown here and there are more to come.
07.01.2022 Roman Emperors and Praetorians from King & Country - handpainted metal 60mm figures. June releases arriving soon. RnB041 ‘The Roman Map Board’ The perfect background accessory for the Emperor and his Generals to gather around and plan their next move.... ROM035 ‘The Praetorian Centurion’ Last month we released the first of our Praetorian Guardsmen... Now, we have one of the Centurions in command of them. ROM040 ‘Pompey the Great’ One of Rome’s greatest generals and leading statesmen he was significant in the transformation of the city from a republic to an empire. He was also, for a time, an ally of Julius Caesar before becoming his sworn enemy. He was assassinated in Egypt while fleeing from Caesar. ROM041 ‘Germanicus’ Another of Rome’s finest Generals who was known for his successful campaigns in Germania and as the elder brother of the future emperor, Claudius. During the reign of Augustus, he commanded no less than 8 Legions, about one third of the entire Roman Army. He avenged the terrible Roman defeat in the Teutoburg Forest and recovered two of the three Legionary Eagles lost there. As a famous general he was widely popular and regarded as both a noble and virtuous leader. He was also the father of the infamous Caligula who, it was said, poisoned Germanicus upon the instructions of his grandmother. Such was life and death in Ancient Rome. ROM045 ‘Emperor Vespasian’ Vespasian ruled from 69 to 79 AD partly thanks to his successful military career during the invasion of Britain in 43 AD and the subjugation of the Jewish Rebellion in Judea in 66 AD. Perhaps his greatest building achievement, still known today, was the ‘Flavian Amphitheatre’ built in the heart of Rome. Today it is better known as... ‘The Coliseum’. ROM046 ‘The Emperor Hadrian’ Hadrian was emperor from 117-138 AD. Born into a Romano / Italo / Hispanic family he energetically pursued his own imperial ideals and personal interests by visiting almost every province in the Empire including Britannia which had recently suffered a major rebellion. There, he initialed the design and construction of a huge wall, ‘to separate Romans from their northern barbarian neighbours.’ Shrewdly he reckoned it was cheaper to build and garrison the wall and its many forts along his northern border than keep a huge standing army there. Even today remains of the wall can still be seen in northern England and southern Scotland. Hadrian was also one of the few leading Emperors to wear a beard... nearly all the others were clean-shaven. AVAILABLE: Late June

05.01.2022 Stonewall Jackson and the Liberty Hall Volunteers, Co. I, 4th Virginia Regiment, The Army of the Shenandoah - figures from John Jenkins - handpointed metal 60mm. Note Jackson is still his blue uniform as he is depicted at the start of the war when he had not yet got the grey uniform. The 1st Brigade of the Army of the Shenandoah, commanded by Brigadier-General Thomas J. Jackson, earned their legendary nickname at First Manassas on 21st July 1861.... Arriving on the battlefield in time to stem the Federal tide sweeping back the confederate left flank, they gained immortality when General Barnard E. Bee, declared: Look at Jackson’s Brigade! It stands there like a stone wall! Many civil war regiments and the various companies they comprised, tended to be made up of men from the same geographical area or who shared a commom heritage. The Liberty Hall Volunteers, Co. I, 4th Virginia Infantry, were largely composed of students at Washington College in Lexington. From 1776 1798 it was known as the Liberty Hall Academy. These young men obviously proud of their school became known as the Liberty Hall Volunteers, and had already been receiving military training from cadets of the neighboring Virginia Military Institute. By the time they were mustered into Confederate service on June 2nd 1861, to serve for a period of one year, the men of the Washington College were considered a well-drilled command. The young men however, were to learn quickly that cannonballs and bullets had no respect for academic achievement. At the battle of First Manassas six of the company were killed or severely wounded. The volunteers wore collarless light blue grey hunting shirts, with dark blue trim, on top of white cotton shirts with collars showing. Trousers were grey with a dark blue stripe. Members of this company also provided themselves with short bowie knives. It was shortly before noon when Jackson arrived at the summit of Henry Hill with his 2,000 Virginians. He rapidly grasped the situation and organized his men into a superb defensive position, which the Northern regiments were unable to break down, and in the end were to wear themselves out in their repeated attempts. On April 14th 1862, Company I was reorganized . Forty Nine men from the militia and another eleven transfers from other units were incorporated into the company, which meant it lost much of its original academic flavor. The 4th Virginia served with the Army of Northern Virginia until the end of the war. It was organized along with the 2nd, 5th, 27th and 33rd Virginia Regiments to make up the famous Stonewall Brigade.
04.01.2022 Romans by King & Country - small but effective diorama by Rusty from Brisbane. The figure with scroll is a new release, the Emperor Augustus, as are the two Preatorians behind. The Centurion on the left cant be fully seen but is one of the best in the series. He has used three dio pieces from K&C to create the scene. In the back are the Egyptian pyramid blocks, a K&C fountain and two pillars from a Greek item.
02.01.2022 German Paratrooper figures from King & Country - handpainted metal 60mm figures. Among the most highly-regarded German soldiers (by their enemies) were the men of the Luftwaffe’s Fallschirmjager (Paratroop) Regiments. Although by 1944 they were primarily used as ‘Elite Infantry’, the Fallschirmjagers could be found fighting on every battlefront Hitler’s armed forces were operating in. The Normandy front in the days and weeks following the June 6, D.DAY Invasion was no excepti...on. Here, as promised, is the second batch of Fallschirmjagers in action battling. K&C has produced Fallschirmjagers for North Africa and Europe as shown below.
