25.01.2022 Best wishes for Dat’s next corneal checkup in Ho Chi Minh City which is happening this Wednesday, the appointment was brought slightly forward by his doctors in Singapore to have the eye pressure checked. A little bird Sha Heather Shek also let me know that it is Dat’s 6th birthday this week - he has endured lots of bravery in his wee 6 years and particularly the last six months. If any of Dat’s supporters would like to donate a birthday gift towards his future checkups, please PM Chelsi.

24.01.2022 Love is when your beautiful cousin HM Smith takes her grandchildren to visit Uncle Neville Tickner on the strand and tell them stories of his life. It’s a beautiful day on the esplanade in Townsville today. Like his great great nephew Roman, Uncle Nev was fearless. Thanks Heidi love you so much!

16.01.2022 Remembering our Dad Neville Tickner. On this Remembrance Day if you would like to make a donation in Dad’s memory, Chelsi is always collecting funds for Dats future eye health care. I have Dad’s miniatures on as well as my Nanas brooch and pendant.

15.01.2022 Hi All, We are trying (as usual) to raise funds for Dat's ongoing care. We thought some of you might like to read one of Dad's books - The Bridge Carpenter - Memories of the 1st World War. You can download a copy here and the money goes to little Dat.... https://www.amazon.com/Bridge-Carpenter-memori//B005C1AOEY

14.01.2022 Hi All On Sunday it will be six months since my darling Dad was taken from us leaving behind heartbroken people all over the world. My family and I will go up to Mount Morgan to my Nanas grave and place a plaque on it so that future generations have some information about where Dad’s ashes were placed. Thank you Roll for doing the plaque for me and big thank you to Rebecca from Precision Engraving & Laser Cutting for getting it made for me with a short turn around!... Thanks also to darling Nat at Tall Pines Florist for making a little something for Nana for me. I would like also to thank Dad’s cousin Kaye Cronin and my workmate Dianne Dingle for their generous donations to Dat’s next checkup! Lots of love Rox

13.01.2022 On behalf of the Blackwater Basilisks, I would like to invite everyone to attend our annual Old Boys Day on the 5th of September. This year we will be remembering our club founder and legend Nev! It will be a big day with the grand finals of the local junior competition and will finish with the two founding CH teams playing each other in what will be a top of the table clash. The club sends an invite to all of Neville’s family and friends. We hope that you can join us in a ...day where we give thanks to Neville and the legacy he has created in our small town. https://facebook.com/events/s/neville-tickner-memorial-day/1049996735425002/?ti=icl https://facebook.com/events/s/neville-tickner-memorial-day/1049996735425002/?ti=icl

10.01.2022 Thank you so much to Dad’s old army mate Paddy Durnford for placing a poppy on Dad’s war grave yesterday!

10.01.2022 Today is six months without our darling Dad. This morning Uncle Wayne met us at the cemetery at Nanas grave. We sat and had a meat pie picnic with Dad’s plaque and his darling mum and grandparents. We think they enjoyed our company. Once Roll and his family and Mum arrived we placed the plaque on Nanas grave. It looks beautiful. Uncle Wayne then took Nina, Mum and I on a tour of the cemetery and of Mount Morgan. It was fun and after we found Ganter’s Gully Unc and I celebra...ted with a drink at the railway hotel. Tonight we are having mock fish for dinner so I think Grandad would be rather satisfied with our efforts today though would much prefer to be here in person beating me in crib. Many people have donated generously to Dat’s ongoing care. His next trip is costing nearly $2000AUD so this is making the balance of our fund’s pretty low. Will take any donations graciously.

08.01.2022 It was a beautiful trip to Cockscomb Veterans Bush Retreat for Long Tan Day. I was privileged to be supported by my darling Uncle Jeff (Dad’s Veteran Brother) and Aunty Ang. My darling Leah Grice was there as first aid officer, this was lucky as she had to lend me fifty bucks to buy raffle tickets with and of course I won first prize - a massive food hamper. Most of this I donated to the kitchen at Cockscomb for the Veteran’s to enjoy. They shall grow not old, as we that are... left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest we forget.

08.01.2022 Sending love to all Dad’s friends and supporters in Melbourne. Here’s a pic of his memorial zig zag wattle flowering in our garden

06.01.2022 Dat's update: As we all know, Dat has already started grade 1... He knows that the primary school is not all just play but he needs to work hard to learn for hi...s future... Here is a video of him being taught by his teacher how to write letter "K" in cursive... In less than 10 days, he will be going back to FV Hospital in Ho Chi Min City for his next appointment. The doctor in Singapore asked to do 3 different tests which we have yet to know how much the cost will be... We are again, knocking on your hearts to help Dat in his journey for a better future... See more

06.01.2022 Heather misses holding his hand. I miss holding his face in my hands. We are all using our hands to keep doing his important work. ... If you'd like to donate to Dat's ongoing care please send us a message.

06.01.2022 Can you IMAGINE what Dad would have to say about this!

05.01.2022 Hi All, We have had a lovely trip to Townsville. We got treated like royalty at Lavarack Barracks. The museum is a credit to Paddy Durnford who manages it and was the one who organised the tour. We had the kids by the ear telling them to not touch a single thing in the museum and when we got in, Paddy and the other volunteer Norm who also knew Dad told the kids to touch whatever they wanted, so they got to pick up machine guns and learn how to load the big guns and things.... One of my favourite things in the museum was an afghan gun from the 1800s that had marks on it for each successful shot - a gory story but a beautiful piece of history. They assigned us a young Bombadier who is number 1 gunner and in 106 Battery and he was a fantastic guide. He showed us the old guns the 106 boys worked on and then took us to the workshop where the current guns are - his team of boys offered to lift the gun for us, so he used his army voice and got them to lift it for us - very impressive. The old guns Dad worked on shot about 12km, the new ones about 20-30km. Steve, the Warrant Officer who sponsored our visit to the Barracks was a lovely man. He shouted us coffee at their cafe and was the one who organised the black lanyard for Uncle Jeff for me - I tell ya, it’s easy being the favourite niece. He also got them to give me all the stuff in their shop half price. I got Roll and Brendan 106 shirts as well as a tie for Roll and David. The new memorial that has been built on the parade ground is going to get landscaped and then they will be laying memorial pavers around it so I’m going to purchase one for Dad. Even though the purpose of the trip was to see Dad’s plaque, I didn’t find it a sad trip. I felt great peace that his plaque is on a beautiful wall in a beautiful spot. We made the right choice selecting Townsville for his war grave plaque. We also got to see Dad's dear friend Ray and his wife Pat. It was a lovely catch up.

04.01.2022 It’s times like this when I miss Dad the most. I want to call and tell him this story but alas he has to hear it from heaven. I stopped at the cemetery and blew him a kiss on the way home today... - I went past Thangool today for a wedding. I took my friend Lea who is usually my boss and there was a Clydesdale and horse drawn carriage. Lea started saying something about Port Curtis Road and I butted in and said that my great Uncle Jim lived there and had Clydesdales and horse drawn carriages and she said Yes I know Because I lived in Jim’s house when I was first married and we had our son - we rented it off him when he was in the nursing home!!!!! Smalllllll world!!! Alan Bourke Dennis Bourke

04.01.2022 Hi All, Chelsi has been advised that Dad's Paver has been installed at Dad's Army RAR National Memorial Walk.

02.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Tomorrow I am going to a service for Long Tan Day at Cockscomb Veterans Bush Retreat Inc. They are installing a plaque in remembrance of Dad.
