25.01.2022 Here’s a chance to dress up and support Taylors Solicitors Virtual Fashions Off the Field.

24.01.2022 Arrived home today to some new fluffy bums in the bird cage including this beautiful creature. Thank you Kevin and Clay for this lovely gift. I also found three lovely fresh eggs so either they are getting busy really fast or my lone frizzle thinks she had better be getting productive or she might be on the outer.

23.01.2022 Out and about this afternoon. I spotted this field of hay bales earlier in the week on one of my trips to town. Head down Sugarshed Rd on your way to The Teahouse . We don’t get to see this sight too often so hurry as they’re being bundled up and may not be there for much longer.

21.01.2022 Here’s what you need to brighten up the weekend. We have a few limited bunches of fresh flowers available for you to purchase. Pop in tomorrow, have a cuppa and some scones and choose your favourite bunch.

19.01.2022 Daisy has made the most of today’s inclement weather- curling up on the couch and drinking milkshakes. How else is a girl to spend the day. We’re not complaining about the rain though, the garden will really appreciate it. Have a great day.

18.01.2022 Happy Wednesday everyone! How can that little furry face not make you smile.

17.01.2022 Come and join us on the couch for a cuppa and some scones. Phone us on 4959 0528 to make a booking.

17.01.2022 This year our fundraising efforts are going towards the Seaforth State School’s new veggie garden. This weekend we will be donating $1.00 from every serve of scones sold to support this great little initiative

16.01.2022 Some more wedding loveliness for you.

15.01.2022 If you are popping out this morning Seaforth Rd is blocked at the intersection with Cape Hillsborough Rd due to a burnt out power pole. Ergon will be busy replacing the pole for a few hours. The best way to get to the Cape this morning is either take Howells Rd or pop down the Highway to the Mount Ossa turnoff and come in that way.

15.01.2022 It’s been a big weekend! Enjoy these photos from Starcut Flowers. I’ll share mine when I’m awake again.

14.01.2022 Good morning Sunshine, it’s nice to see your face.

14.01.2022 Happy Saturday everyone! What are your plans for the weekend? I hope there’s some scones with homemade jam and cream involved.

13.01.2022 An awesome prize package from some of our local tourism heroes. Tag your special someone and pop over to www.mackayregion.com/winaholiday to enter.

12.01.2022 Good news tea lovers - French Earl Grey is back in stock. After long delays for our supplier we can once again offer you the choice of this lovely fragrant brew with your scones. Every day is the perfect day for scones and tea.

10.01.2022 The family has asked me to post on their behalf tonight. Dwayne, Maryanne and Pam, Matthew and Kaitlyn and Mervyn said goodbye to their mother, grandmother and lifelong partner this week. Lorraine passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday evening. After many years of fighting poor health she passed over on her own terms and is now resting peacefully. Her family was her reason for fighting so hard to make the most of everyday and she will be missed by them. She will be ...remembered for her spirit and determination and her grace in the face of life’s challenges. She was a woman made of cast iron but in the end it wasn’t enough to overcome. Lorraine will now be enjoying a green ginger wine on the other side with her family that went before and a myriad of furry family at her side including Copper, Fallon, Joey and Tisha to keep her company. 09.01.2022 We have been overrun with butterflies this year, they are still hanging around long after their usual season. Maybe they’re trying to avoid COVID as well and let’s face it why wouldn’t you want to hang out in the beautiful Mackay region for as long as possible. #visitmackay #visitmackayregion #visitmackayqueensland

09.01.2022 It’s that time of the year when we start making our small batch puddings. Weighing in at just over a kilo these babies will feed a small army but supplies are always limited and I can tell you that two of them are spoken for already. Covid will not stop one of them winging their way to Tasmania and the other to Brisvegas. The price is the same as it has always been. Forty five bucks will secure your own piece of Teahouse Christmas. Call me on 4959 0528 or message me through the page.

09.01.2022 The Teahouse will be open tomorrow from 9.30am until 2.30pm. Come for a drive to beautiful Cape Hillsborough and enjoy some fresh baked goodness.

07.01.2022 I’ve been writing a daily post on the member page for Mackay Tourism that covered the One Hundred and Seventeen days we were in Hibernation. Chapter Two started when we headed back to work and now my husband has asked me to start sharing these posts with you. The pressure is on! I write Monday to Friday and it’s been one of the things that has helped me to navigate through these strange times. So here is the post I wrote tonight. Chapter Two: Day Fourteen: Back To Work. Today...’s photo was taken at one of the best picnic and swimming spots in the region. Can you guess where this is? If you guessed Platypus Beach then you would be 100% correct. With plenty of parking, sand right down to the water and located a leisurely thirty-five minutes drive from Mackay it’s a lovely quiet spot to get away for a few hours. Take the pooch for a swim in the beautiful clear water while you do some birdwatching, hungry cormorants often drop in for a spot of fishing or take a canoe and go for a glide down the river. From here it’s a quick jaunt through the Pioneer Valley to Eungella for a spot of platypus viewing or a walk through the rainforest. Now there’s an Instagramable itinerary for you with the hashtag #visitmackay of course. Have a great weekend, see you on the other side of Sunday. See more

07.01.2022 Well I promised you some are images from our weekend of weddings and here they are. Friday saw Kane and Stevie marry at The Teahouse in a beautiful boho style ceremony and reception under the fig trees. Stevie's dress was custom designed for her by local designer @AnnaDuttonCouture and was just perfect. Stevie's beautiful collection of crystals featured throughout the decor and were an integral part of the centrepieces. Saturday was the day for Leigh and Kelly and once again it was a stunning day. The amazing colours of the floral displays matched the hot red colour of the bride's gorgeous 1951 Morris Minor. Both of our couples had their special days postponed by Covid so we were absolutely delighted to be able to share their day at The Teahouse.

06.01.2022 How did you celebrate the first day of spring? We popped down to Ball Bay this afternoon for a beach picnic with some friends and what a lovely afternoon it was. The dogs had a great run around and Daisy is now parked up on the couch. I imagine her friend Tiger is also parked somewhere comfortable. Thank you to Max and Karen for organising this, we enjoyed the change of scenery and your great company.

05.01.2022 I went for a wander through the rainforest today and was surrounded by thousands of Blue Tiger butterflies. These guys have definitely forgotten how to migrate. As you all know Dwayne’s mother passed away last week and not being able to head to Tasmania to support the rest of the family is weighing heavily on him so I have put my foot down and we are taking the week off. The Teahouse will be closed while we are away. I hope you will understand. We will be back at work on Thursday 10th September and if these flutterbys are still around you might be lucky enough to see them too.

04.01.2022 Have you heard of Mackay Rocks or maybe you’ve been out somewhere and found one hidden. One of these talented rock painters is a regular visitor to The Teahouse and there are still a few left to be found. Whoever finds that tiny wee button and brings it to me will earn themselves a milkshake. Check out the Mackay Rocks Facebook page to see what its all about. #mackayrocks #letsdosomethingmackay

03.01.2022 Get your Holiday reading sorted and support one of our local animal rescue groups. For a gold coin donation you can select from a variety of titles and we will donate much needed supplies to a small local group. If you would like to make a physical donation we are happy to pass on kitten food, kitty litter etc.

03.01.2022 If you’re as old as I am you will know the film Brigadoon. It’s about a town that appears out of the mist only every one hundred years. Well it’s a bit like that here this morning, the fog has rolled in and even the chickens are having trouble seeing which way to go. I expect it will burn off later and we’ll end up with a glorious day

02.01.2022 Breaking News From The Kitchen Bench. Tomorrow we are celebrating the wedding of Kane and Stevie. It’s been a long time between weddings this year and we are excited for the celebration. We will be closed for this so we can concentrate on making sure everything is perfect. Saturday also sees our last wedding for the year and we will close at 2.00pm for that one.... Both of our couples have had to postpone their big days due to that pesky virus so we hope you will understand. Feel free to pop out Saturday before 2.00pm or drop in on Sunday. Cheers everyone!
