23.01.2022 In your job, do you handle a controlled extinguishing agent for use in fire protection? If so, you must hold an Extinguishing Agent Handling Licence (EAHL). 23.01.2022 A little over 3 years ago I was at this Plant training Chubb Employee’s on Sprinkler, Pump & Deluge Testing. https://mobile.abc.net.au//coronavirus-where-to-/12026116
23.01.2022 Today we lost a Gentleman in the Fire Industry....Early this morning, John Callachan, many of you may know him as Jock lost his fight with the big C and passed at 3am...Jock worked with many companies during his career in Fire. His working life was incredibly interesting. Jock born in Glasgow, was a former serving Commissioned Officer in the Royal Navy and served at sea during the Fauklands Conflict, somehow he also managed to secure a trade as an Electrician moving eventu...ally into the Fire industry, he trained many who are in this group. I had the privilege to work with Jock during my time with PWR/Rio Tinto as his Supervisor. Jock couldn’t cook for shit, but where that was lacking his huge heart and personality made up for that shortfall. Many hours I spent with Jock after work and over many glasses of Wild Turkey Sting,,,happy juice as we called it,,,discussing the shortfalls of the industry, religion and other things somehow we always found solutions after the 4th glass or so.. He will be sadly missed by his Family, colleagues at K Town and many that had the privilege to be his friend or work with him... to our next merry meeting my friend, so mote it be... See more

10.01.2022 Before and after shots, unbelievable how some install/service providers think. Installing a fire detection/suppression system on a Customers critical infrastructure requires a certain amount of pride in the end result.. Ampac Firefinder with 2 banks x 12 containers Co2 gaseous suppression.
10.01.2022 Saw this one today while conducting site surveys, not often do you now see a HV Switch Room with a full CO2 suppression system,
10.01.2022 Impulse Actuator test &reset

05.01.2022 Today’s job, servicing a Fogmaker Vehicle suppression system
03.01.2022 Santos says goodbye HCFC Blend A, hello fluorinated ketone. Santos, one of the most prominent independent oil and gas producers in the Asia-Pacific region, is shifting towards environmentally cleaner extinguishing agents. Santos removed all of its HCFC Blend A cylinders from their Port Bonython processing facility in South Australia, replacing it with fluorinated ketone. HCFC Blend A was once considered a highly effective substance for fire suppression, but research into its ...potency revealed an output of unacceptable levels of gases commonly known to contribute to ozone layer depletion and global warming. The Santos site at Port Bonython is now protected by a completely new fire suppression system, using fluorinated ketone as a total flooding agent. Fluorinated ketone is considered breakthrough technology in fire suppression and is the most benign and environmentally friendly agent available. Before and after: Santos Port Bonython removed its HCFC Blend A containers (pictured left) in favour of containers that use fluorinated ketone (pictured right). In addition to being far better for the environment, this clear, colourless agent (fluorinated ketone) has many other advantages. It is: non-toxic to humans fast acting in suppressing a fire not harmful to sensitive equipment an electrically non-conductive medium, being especially suited where electronic systems cannot be shut down in an emergency clean and quickly evaporates once the fire is suppressed as it is environmentally safe, persons handling it are not required to hold an Extinguishing Agent Handling Licence. The fluid can be used in total flooding fire suppression applications such as: data processing centres tape storage vaults occupied or unoccupied electronic areas with very sensitive or irreplaceable equipment telecommunications including cellular sites and switching centres military systems including combat vehicles and marine engine rooms transportation including merchant marine vessels and mass transit vehicles recreation including pleasure craft and race cars.
02.01.2022 You would think that major install companies would label cables and relays to help a Technician fault find and figure out how it is intended to work... to much to ask for??
02.01.2022 Annual Inspection & Test of a Customers Detection and warning system ensures that critical equipment is operating within specification and will work when needed. It gives us the opportunity to test 50% smoke, 20% heat & 100% call points per circuit integration with other systems and report and repair any failures.
