23.01.2022 Today I’ve made some wound gel with pure Aloe Vera gel as a base and the oils pictured here Hiccup has torn his dew claw nail at the base and it doesn’t seem to be all the way through so I’m keeping it clean and bathing with this to promote healing and prevent infection. I made an extra one in a handy pump bottle if anyone is interested $15.00 plus postage within Tasmania

13.01.2022 Shampoo! All the usual precautions. Never in ears or eyes. Rinse well and shake the bottle I thought I’d give you the run down on how I’ve found the shampoo for various coat types. *It doesn’t strip all the natural oils out of a coat which I like. ... *If there is a lot of dead hair in a double coat it may have difficulty penetrating all the way through. *It’s very runny. You have to be careful not to tip too much out. It still goes a long way if you are using a shower attachment to help diffuse the water through the coat as well. Using buckets of water may just rinse it all off before you get a lather up. i use a sponge to apply and initially suds up to prevent run off. *Needs shaking to get the Aloe Vera to mix in before and during use. * a 500ml bottle did my four dogs and another smaller one. So it does last for a few washes. For a large very hairy with a thick coat it may not go that far. * it feels like the coat is so so soft afterwards but as it’s such a thin consistency you need to make sure you’ve rinsed it all out as you can leave a residue with goes a bit dull on the coat. It’s not a bad residue as it’s most likely the aloe vera which is only a very good thing to have linger on the skin. I think I can improve it but I really like it until I gather more information about how to create shampoos without sacrificing purity and safety of ingredients. Smells great and I think is a real healing based preparation This bath with Laika used about 100grams of shampoo. The bottle weighed 375grams before use. I applied shampoo to the sponge three times during the process and for the bits I couldn’t film I applied directly to the head, feet and tail and massaged with my hands not the sponge. I needed two hands for that. I can imagine a large dog may need a fair bit more. I have used in conjunction with other shampoos for the larger dogs to make sure they were really really clean See Smithfield in comments for a medium to large sized dog who was bathed in it alone.
