24.01.2022 Re-posting this wonderful video footage from our project at the Primus Hotel, Pitt St, Sydney in 2015. Featuring Maurizio Feliziani and Julien Fantone of Idea Creations and their wonderful team, The Painted Image was delighted to be co-creating on a very complex project with these wonderful craftspeople. This description from the Gourmet Traveller perfectly sums up the beautiful work:- " The lobby is a show-stopper. It features eight scarlet columns of Scagliola, a rarely se...en plaster technique that imitates marble, which required restoration by a team of a dozen craftsmen from Italy. The eight-metre columns are crowned by a mezzanine level and massive panelled skylight, minus a layer of tar and a roof installed in 1960 to create more office space. The newly illuminated space in the lobby houses a bar and 120-seat fine-diner The Wilmot, with an open kitchen overseen by Korean chef Ryan Hong, formerly of Rockpool Bar & Grill and Black by Ezard, and an Asian-influenced, modern Australian menu. The hotel's 172 guestrooms occupy six floors of what were rather plain offices, now models of sober, masculine luxury with plush navy carpet, oak joinery, marble bathrooms and Deco-inspired details." 15.01.2022 Oxidized Metals and Patinas I came across this old fridge on a bush walk that had become a piece of art - oxidised by the elements naturally - it had turned red, blue & green. It was beautiful ! You can create this on copper by using different chemicals to speed the process up. However you can't always control the results exactly....... You can exaggerate the results using paint techniques over the sheet if necessary!! See more

02.01.2022 The Painted Image was commissioned in January 2015 to organise a team of master tradespeople to replace and repair the traditional finish called scagliola at th...e heritage building at 339 Pitt Street to its' original condition. All the surfaces had major damage from cracking, staining and previous neglect. It was a huge privilege to be elected to work on this project with the builders Ganellen who proved to be a remarkable client. This work could undoubtedly not have been completed without the skill and diligence of Julien Fantone from Idea Creations and his skilled team. Maurizio Feliziani is a master of scagliola technique from Italy and spent four months with his team working on this phenomenal project. It was a pleasure for everybody involved to work alongside them all. As a result the Painted Image in unison with Idea Creations are now able to offer these spectacular finishes to our clients across Australia.
