20.01.2022 Thurs 28th May. Woke to a double rainbow which was nice but we knew it was going to be a wet and windy day ahead. Off to The Pinnacles where we went for a look ...through the Desert Discovery Centre then off for a 1.5km walk through the pinnacles. Took our umbrellas as it was raining but only needed them for the first 10 mins. After the walk we did the drive through the pinnacles and the sun even came out for a little while. Loved the peacefulness of the area. We did spend 3 hours there so off to Hangover Bay which was taking a battering from the wind and swell. Dropped the camper trailer at Cervantes and then looked at the Stromatalites (cousins to the Thrombalites - see previous post) at Lake Thetis. Drove to Jurien Bay and walked the Jetties and check out the boat harbour. Back to Cervantes via Moolah Point and Thirsty Point, set up the camper then went to watch the sunset. 03.01.2022 Cervantes (Days 159-161) After a stopover in Bunbury for the night we headed straight for warmer weather to Cervantes. The Pinnacles drive, a 4km one way loop ...at Nambung National Park was definitely a highlight for us. It was so random seeing these jagged limestone pillars rising from the sand in the middle of nowhere. We all had lots of fun pretending we were in the dessert and the kids burnt some energy running parts of the drive. From here we stopped at Lake Thetis and spotted a baby brown snake and some fascinating structures known as Thrombolites. We also checked out the jetty at Jurien Bay and witnessed one of the most epic sunsets we’ve seen yet at Cervantes.
